GoofysMuse, did your DD go with a date or group? ... I hope she has a magical evening...
I guess this answer to this one is 'yes', 'yes', and 'yes'! DD did go with a date but that date is her best male friend at this point. She and her girlfriends had made a pact to all go solo, but then several buckled. DD was a bit panicked that she'd already turned down a few offers but I learned she had held out on one with an "I'll think about it"... DD had some basic requirements, namely that he treat her as the princess she aspires to be! :teeth: He was to make no demands, be available to dance at DD's whim but certainly not interrupt her while she was doing her thing with her friends! He does apparently like her quite a bit... presented her with a single, lovely long-stemmed pink rose, treated her to a picture with the photographer, carried out the centerpiece she'd won and asked her in the car if she had a wonderful time... which she did! Always the dancer, she later told me that she never even noticed the buffet table. She was amazed at how fantastic everyone looked, how everyone got along, how complimentary and inclusive everyone was, etc. And alas, the tears DID flow, not started by my DD but by one of her friends and I imagine the remaining closing activities at school will be handled much less gracefully than by minniesota's DD!

When exactly are you going to fit in a family vacation?
It looks like we can insert one week in mid-August... destination still TBD though you can probably guess what's on MY mind... :rolleyes1

My youngest DD is out of school on Monday, after her school "American Idol" competition. At 8 years old she has made it into the finals and there's been no living with her.
I just love this... I'll bet your youngest is a hot ticket! :goodvibes

I've been out almost all this week though as I tore some ligaments in my ankle and have been hobbling around in an air cast.
Oh dear... here's hoping you'll be on the mend soon!

By the way, Goofy's can you send some warm air to the coast. We went from 90 degrees the other day to barely getting to 60. This has been some wacky weather.
I promise... as soon as the warmer air comes back OUR way, I'll send some along. My DDs were back to wearing their heavy cheerleading sweatshirts this week! I was at my wit's end with that stretch of heat and humidity though... perfect Disney summer weather, but without the Disney! :smooth:

Regards to all for a wonderful weekend!

P.S. minniesota... That camp of your son's sounds right up my DS's alley... sounds very cool! My own DS is a huge World Showcase fan...

Steph-Congratulations! How exciting! I was 6 months pregnant for my first concierge visit. Concierge and pregnancy mix very well!

Tammi-hope you back in full swing soon!

My DD's last day of Kindergarten is 6/24 then she has "move up" day on 6/27 to meet her new teacher and classmates. I don't think the "regular" kids get out till 6/28 or 6/29. DD had Irish Step recital last night. Those 5 & 6 year olds are so cute and the older girls are amazing!

I went to visit my mom at rehab on Wednesday. She's now 60 miles each way away from me but MUCH closer to 4 of siblings. The place seemed really nice but I'm not convinced my Mom knew who I was. The PT said they had her on her feet in the morning and they were doing exercises in a chair when I arrived. She's got a long ways to go. They told my sister not everyone who leaves the rehab goes home. :sad1:

Dreaming Disney thoughts! :earsgirl:

I'm glad to hear that. I'm SOOOO looking forward to it now. :cool1:

Spectrum and Minniesota--maybe we can meet while we're all at GF together. How fun!!!

Tammi--I'm so sorry to hear about your cast! I broke my foot two years ago and was in a cast for 2 months. I can commiserate! Hope you're back to your old self very soon!

I got notified that Northwest changed my arriving flight time. Grrr. I didn't even know they could do that. It's only a couple of hours earlier, but you know what--I'm not a morning person! I'm also worried that I'm going to get to Disney and we'll be sitting around waiting for the room to be ready. We weren't planning to go to the parks that day. I hope we aren't sitting around stranded. :confused3 We're landing around 11:30am.

Hugs to all! I'm getting back in the swing of things now that it's getting closer--they'll start making my PSs late next week. Woo hoo!!!!!

Congratulations, Steph! Don't worry about getting there early - you'll have the use of the concierge lounge as soon as you check in, even if your room isn't ready. There are also plenty of non-park things to while away your time. The shops at GF are very nice, or you can ride the monorail to CR or Poly and do some exploring. It's great just to relax in a hammock on the Poly beach and look at the castle and plan your days.

Prayers & PD to all the injured, sick, sad, and otherwise in need of a little magic. Hope your ankle heals quickly, Tammi.

I really need to start planning some activities for my impending return to the Poly. We're in the middle of our super-duper birthday month - 12 family birthdays in less than 3 weeks, plus the usual June graduation parties, weddings, Father's Day, and a christening. I feel like all I've been doing besides working is shopping, wrapping, eating, shopping, wrapping, eating...

lovesdumbo, your mom remains in my prayers. I am glad to hear that your mom’s rehab facility is closer to your siblings, though I’m sure you miss having her closer.

Must say that I love this lounge. The PD flows so freely that it has to cheer everyone up a little. My news is mixed. I made it up to PA to be with my parents the same day I last posted (Monday the 6th), got in at midnight and drove an hour to get to my old home. My mom was still sitting in her chair afraid to go anywhere in case she fell. Got her to bed and then sat and stared at the walls. Tuesday was a bit better. The doctors did the first procedure on my father to remove gall stones that had moved out of the gall bladder and lodged elsewhere blocking several things. (That is what was causing the pain that made hime call for the ambulance.) Then sent him home until they could schedule surgery. That was on Friday. A very long week but he is recovering nicely. Anyway, while I was there I found a specialist to look at my mom and they are going to remove the tumor as it is causing so much pain. They don't think it is cancerous so there is a positive side to that as well. Thanks for the P & PD.

I really need a WDW break. Am now trying to talk my DH into taking us up for the weekend. I'll even stay at POP (okay not really but CSR would be nice).

Hope everyone else is receiving good news.

MinnieSummer, you are right that the pixie dust flows freely here. It’s a great group of people for sure! I am glad to hear that your father is recovering nicely and your mom’s tumor is likely not cancerous. I know that there is still much to be resolved health-wise, so your family remains in my prayers. for you too.

Glad you checked in, MinnieSummer... was wondering how things were going for you. I think many of us can relate to "parenting our parents" right now and from personal experience, I know how the distance piece only complicates things.

P & PD to you and lovesdumbo for being such good daughters, tummy pat to Steph H's :earsboy: or ::MinnieMo in development, hope TammiMcMan is up and :cheer2:, hope Angel16 and her DH are enjoying their travels and a...

BIG ROOM WAVE to everyone else! Happy summer! :sunny:

Here's to finding everyone well. Prayers and pixie dust to everyone that needs it. DH took his Dad down for his first chemotherapy treatment last Thurs. He has that once a week for 12 weeks and 33 daily radiation treatments. He is going to be worn out. I hope it is all worth it! Like everyone else, I can't wait to escape reality for awhile on our next trip!! Only 157 more days!!

I just wanted to throw some more prayers around the room here. You can never have too many people praying for you, nor can you have too many people helping you through troubles.

Leaving the cordials and desserts out extra long tonight,
Debbie

Big Room Wave to everyone! I have my daughters laptop and wanted to check in with you all.

Minnisummar- You are in my thoughts and prayers. My heart goes out to you, having both your mother and father so ill at the same time. Stay strong and healthy yourself. Your parents are so very blessed to have you.

Softbank - I hope your FIL is filled with strengh and goes through his chemo with flying colors. You and your family are in my prayers. It certainly is time of need here in our little lounge.

Steph H - Congratulations on your fantastic news. How wonderful. Please keep us posted on how you are doing and all news. :flower3:

Now I know I have the DIS bug. I have been on vacation for 11 days and I have missed your guys sooo much. I have missed my DIS Boards and all my caring thoughtful friends :grouphug:

We are currently staying the The Cranberry Country Lodge in Tomah, Wisconsin. Our SIL is being deployed on Thursday. We have been in Wisconsin since June 17th. There has been a going away party in Rhinelander, and we all are trying to keep things NORMAL. That is very difficult especially for our dd. Eighteen months to two years is a very long time to be alone. The next two days is family briefings, award briefings and on Thursday they start the deployment cermony at 4:30 PM with a two hour family visit time before they load the plane. There are 80 solders going from the Rhinelander, Wausau area. There will be total of 2000 from the state of Wisconsin. :( I knew this was going to be difficult, but.....

When I get home I hope to figure out how to send pictures of my new GS and 3 year old GD. They are wonderful and we all had a great visit the week of June 13th in Indianpolis. I am very blessed with wonderful family and great friends. :lovestruc

#1 Hockey Mom your statement about never having too much pray or too many friends is so true. Thank you for sharing.

I would love to write more, but it is late here and we need to be up early. Sending pd, joy and prayers to all. :grouphug:

Special P and PD going out to your SIL and all of our men and women of the armed forces! :wizard: Without them, we wouldn't be able to have our fun without worry at Disney, or anywhere else!

I’d like to throw myself into the group needing some prayers. My grandmother is possibly going to have to have open-heart surgery to replace her aortic valve in her heart. She has had this done once before, but the valve wears out over time. She is going to have a cardiac catheterization, which will show the surgeon the extent of the damage to her valve. That will determine whether or not she needs the surgery. My mom is also understandably frightened since it’s her mother. We truly appreciate your prayers and support.

sfbank, I will remember your husband’s father in my prayers. The cancer treatment sounds very exhausting, but I pray it will be completely effective.

Angel, please tell your son-in-law thank you for his sacrifice and willingness to serve. God bless our troops and their families! I can’t imagine how difficult this will be for your daughter, but I know that she will have excellent support from those who love her to help her through. I have a friend who is in the same situation, and the support and love of her family and friends have helped her through.

Thank you everyone, for the kind wishes and PD. So far, everything is great. And today marks the day I go into Double Digits!!!!!!!!! Let me do a little double digit dance with the baby. . .

Only one banana--can't overexert myself. :rotfl:

Steveanddonna: Thanks so much for the advice on what to do if I'm there early. I didn't even think about the concierge lounge. :teeth: Duh! And the hammock sounds wonderful right now! I know it will be great!!

MinnieSummer: Much PD and prayers to you for your mom and dad's health, as well as your sanity and health! {hugs}

Angel: Please know your SIL and DD are in my thoughts and prayers. That's a very long time to be alone, but I know her family will get her though. Your SIL is a very wonderful person to defend our country for us.

Sfbank: Prayers for your FIL that his treatment is relative easy and goes quickly!

ead79: I'll add your grandmother to my prayers and PD list. {hugs}

Hope everyone else is having a great summer! How about some cappuccino and various flavors of biscotti for breakfast this morning. Try the chocolate hazelnut version--it's my particular favorite.

ANGEL: I've been very fortunate in that none of my family has been touched by this war and we pray often for those that have been. I can only say that I am proud of our boys and girls who serve this country and pray that each one comes home whole. I know that everyone in this lounge will pray for your SIL and DD and, if there truly is power in numbers he will be safe.

On another note, I'm not the most computer literate person in the world. How do you all get those icons to appear in the middle of your text and how do you get your pictures in the signature area? :confused3 DUH Okay, nevermind about the smilies just explain the pictures.

Hi! I have only a minute or two, but wanted to thank you all for the wonderful thoughts, prayers and good wishes for my dear son-in-law. He is such a wonderful person, he really has never felt like an "in-law". :flower:

I intend to print up all your wishes and send them to him. I know that will certainly make his time over there shorter knowing that so many are praying for him. Thank you all. I don't have a printer available, so it will be after I get home.

Elizabeth - EAD79 - Your grandmother and family are in my prayers. As you know we (DH ) has been through the valve replacement and face another sometime. I know how hard this can be. If you have any questions, that you prefer not asking your grandmother about the surgery or recovery, I will be happy to help if I can. Sending pd and many prayers.

Hey, what happend to those nice cool Wisconsin summar days? It is going to be in the HIGH 90's. heat index of 110 . :umbrella:

I have to run, we need to check out of the hotel and head to lunch and take DSIL to the base. Prayers and pd to all in need.

Angel

Today is 90 days until Disney World :cheer2:  :cheer2:

We're back, sadly--although my family was ready to come home after a mere 12 nights/13 days, I certainly wasn't! Does that make me a commando or simply addicted? :rotfl:

We had a wonderful stay at Polynesian--no complaints whatsoever! The staff was great from bell services to turn down at night! We hit the end of Arlene, but it didn't stop us--the weather would be terrible for a few hours then we'd hit a band of sunshine, etc.--it ended Saturday evening and the rest of the trip was typical Florida weather--brief rains followed by clearing.

No signs of any of the promised renovations at the resort--I was hoping to see some real work being performed, but that didn't happen. Further, there wasn't anything happening with the Captain Cook's renovation either. :confused3

Anyway--still doing all that "catching up" post-vacation--the mail is ridiculous and I had 89 email messages to review + two Disney surveys on PI and EPCOT!

Aloha for now. . .

Welcome back, Tess! I’m glad to hear that you had a wonderful stay at your favorite resort! It seems odd that there are no signs of renovations yet, but maybe since it’s the rooms they can keep it more hidden. I have no idea about Captain Cook’s but it definitely needs the rehab. That will be a very good thing for the Poly. How exciting—I love filling out Disney surveys. I also love it when we get surveyed by the in-park research cast members. What fun!

Prayers & PD to all here in need! :grouphug:

Just a quick note to Tammy-did you notice the $49 SouthWest Manchester to Orlando if you fly on July 4th? Have to book today. Sorry I just couldn't resist telling you. :teeth:

Thanks for everyones kind thoughts about my ankle. I'm out of the aircast and it's still a bit twingey, but definitely feeling much better.

LovesDumbo, nope, no way! I can't even look until after Christmas. We just got back from a skating competition/vacation up in Burlington Vermont. Both DH's team and DS's team took home the gold at the International competition, so it was a good weekend. Now DS is back to skating 6 days a week and we're getting ready for the Lake Placid dance competition in August. We'll be up there for almost the whole week and it's not an inexpensive spot. Unfortunately, I don't know the area at all, so I'm having to rely on others to give me information on where to stay. We're going to be at the Golden Arrow, which is right across the street from the Olympic Center and right on Mirror Lake. It seems nice, but with my family of 5, I prefer to stay in the suites hotels. That way we can all stretch out a little bit and have seperate bedrooms. Oh well. If we go back next year, at least I'll know the area better.

I'm finally done with school, so my summer can now officially begin. It has been a very long school year for us. We even started before Labor Day this year and it's almost the 4th of July before we're finished. I am going to fully enjoy the next 8 weeks though before we start up all over again.

Have a great day everyone.

Tammi
