The new Little Mermaid ride...why....

...are the wait times listed online always so short? While 7DMW is always close to an hour, every time I check Ariel's it's 15 minutes or less. I thought, with it being new as well, the demand for this would be close. So why isn't it? I haven't been there since both rides opened. Just curious.

Didn't know that, thanks. But isn't it the same kind of capacity ride as Haunted Mansion and the Doom Buggy? I'm seeing Haunted Mansion wait times usually doubled of those of Little Mermaid. Mind you, I'm not complaining as Little Mermaid is my fave Disney movie of all time (well, just behind Bambi but he's never getting an attraction NOR is he ever seen in the parks!) so when I DO go next year I'm hoping this trend continues as I will ride it over and over. But I'm just surprised a new ride doesn't have the Wait times compared to Haunted Mansion.

Yes, and now you're comparing apples to apples a bit more--at least in terms of supply. HM is a classic and has always been popular with likely higher demand, LM not so much.

Honestly the queue is better then the ride. It was not done well at all. I felt like I was riding around in a warehouse looking at props. I was very disappointed as The Little mermaid is one of my favorites too.

THIS. I rode it once and I'm not sure I will ride it on the my next trip. The only reason I would is to actually see the queue. I rode it during a halloween party while it was in soft opening and there was no line. We walked really quickly through the line, not bothering to notice much. The ride itself is nothing special.

During my trip spring break 2015 HM was frequently listed as 5-15 minutes. Little Mermaid isn't and exciting ride so you lose a lot of potential riders. Also, the location doesn't lend itself to walk by riders. People are generally walking through to get from one section to the other, not looking for rides there.

Friends and family of mine who have gone recently have told me they were disappointed in 7DMR, that it's a "shinier, glossier, much shorter" version of BTM and that Under the Sea was great if you loved the movie (HI!). So I guess I'm just surprised one is always 70 minutes + and the other new ride is 15 minutes -. Better for me when I go!! : >

Think People Mover with Little Mermaid theming and you have a very good idea of the ride, and how many people it can crank through. ...or if the Peter Pan and the People Mover attractions had a love child named "Under the Sea - Voyage of the Little Mermaid" :)

Really enjoy it, but don't love it, and the repeat factor is kinda low.

As others have said, it's an omnimover like HM, but that's really the only two ways the rides are alike. Under the Sea just doesn't have the heart that HM has. The ride isn't done nearly as well as HM and I don't think the appeal is as broad as HM because after all, it is a "princess" ride.

Also note that even those short SB times posted for Under the Sea are inflated. If it says 20 minutes or under, expect a walk-on. If it's 30 minutes, you might have a slight wait. 40 minutes means 15 minutes or less. It's really one of the rides with the least accurate SB times, IMO.

Have your ridden it since the black light effects were added? I'm hoping some of that warehouse feeling with be removed.

I'll know in 3 weeks! :)

We ride The Little Mermaid once each trip but have FP+ booked for all 4 days for SDMT! I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in this which is part of the reason SDMT has such long waits. Ride...and then ride again. Great family coaster!

I was thinking the same thing. The video with the black lights looks much better than when we last saw it. I am looking forward to seeing the difference soon.

My kids just loved riding in the shells, so we did the ride multiple times.

We thought it was cute, but really wasted a FP+ on it. When we walked into the inside queue it was like a ghost town and we got right on the ride. Now I know to go standby on that one and use a FP+ for something that needs it.

It's a very beautiful area to walk through at night.... It's too bad there is not any sane reason for an adult to walk through that area at night.

I constantly see (and I'm on these boards just a little bit) SO many guests posting that they intend to use a FP+ for Little Mermaid shells at MK.

I post, time-and-again, that it will NOT NEED a FP… but it seems to do no good.

Hey, guys!
Little Mermaid does not need a FP!

;)

I guess it depends on perspective. We ride the little mermaid multiple times each trip. We have a 3 year old and it is one of her faves, along with Nemo. I feel like all the adults hating on a kiddie ride might be expecting too much. The Little Mermaid is geared toward a younger set, as is the movie. If you are an adult looking to be wowed, ride things geared toward adults.
