Those rooms are honeymoon rooms (the ones literally right above Gasparilla’s on the second floor). However, they are not honeymoon rooms on the floors above those. I do believe there are other castle view rooms as well in the main building.

Do you know what room numbers? 3rd and 4th floor above Gaspy's? Would that be a good location?

4301-4309 and 4401-4409 will give you a direct castle view. We had 4404 once and could watch the castle changing color from our beds. Rooms that overlook the courtyard will probably give you a more angled view of the MK. You would most likely be able to see the castle from your balcony, looking left.

Denise, book RPC! You only live once.

I'm still thinking about the parmesan & prosciutto cheese appetizer. We thought the food offerings were outstanding. I wish I had that recipe.

We're planning on going to Hawaii or Costa Rica in 2007. It will be a few years before we head back to WDW. I'll have to live vicariously through you all.

Elizabeth, I've been enjoying your reviews.

Sure was nice to meet you, Lori. I think it would be great to try RPC, and then I could make an "objective comparison"~! ;)

Yes, 3rd and 4th floor. 2nd floor is honeymoon rooms only and there is no 5th floor on that wing. It's a further walk to the lounge and main elevators though. If I remember correctly, 2 long hallways. It did make for a very quiet area of the hotel.

And I think somewhere in the 4301-4309 and 4401-4409 rooms are a few of the rooms with the historic decor.

OK you all are DEPRESSING ME!!!! :guilty: :guilty: :guilty:

I just changed our week long RPC to just basic garden view. I was the ONLY one in my family that cared about staying concierge and main building for that matter. They all say it didn't matter to them and that we wouldn't be around much anyway!! Do you believe it???? My kids have more common sense than I do - LOL. My husband just likes the GF and doesn't care which building. I am having MAJOR regrets. It was booked thru BRP and I cannot get it back. I paid my $50 change fee and the RPC has not shown up on the BRP AP website anyway......sniff.

I have only stayed RPC and SL at the GF. I requested Sago Cay upper floor. I am soooo bummed and not even excited about our trip anymore. I just don't know what to expect and don't want to be disappointed. The GV was half of what the RPC was going to cost, so I felt pretty good about the whole thing at first, but who cares - I am with Steph - You only live once!

Any good news about regular old GF??? It will be our first nonconcierge trip in about 8 years.

LFD! 2nd guessing yourself? Boy, do I know that feeling! You know you'll be checking constantly, and I'd feel safe guessing you'll end back up in RPC! Since you went to GV, what about SL instead? I really, really enjoyed it over Christmas.

You and I should start a GF wishy-washy club. Wonder who the first 2 members will be??????;)

Lives4Disney,
We're in the exact opposite position as your family. We've been to the GF close to 15 times and have NEVER stayed in concierge; we've always been in Big Pine Key or Sugarloaf (before it went concierge). We have NEVER had a bad trip to the GF. The rooms in the lodges are like the rooms in the main building (not counting suites, of course). The views in the lodges can be excellent, and from what I've been reading here, some of the lodge building rooms have better views than some of the rooms in the main building. When the GF used to offer tours of its rooms, we toured Sago Cay's rooms - great decor! Other great GV rooms at the Grand are in Boca Chica, but our favourites are in Big Pine Key where we always ask for a GV room with one of these numbers - 9204, 9206, 9208, 9304, 9306, 9308; these rooms have a great view of the original pool and we've been able to see many of the fireworks above Cinderella's Castle -- although you can't see the castle from these rooms. Don't worry - I'm sure you will have an amazing time. No matter where you are at the GF, remember you're at Disney's Flagship resort!!!

Have fun!!

I'll have to think about it. being in the main building for shops, restaurants, and the monorail would be great for us. I'd love one of the rooms over Gaspy's looking at the castle and monorail. are those the only castle view rooms? what numbers would those be to request? my kids are obsesed with the monorail.

We just got back from RPC and we were in 4302 with a fabulous view of the castle and monorail! The only thing that was kind of weird was that our room had the old tan and cream decor! It was still pretty but I just thought all the rooms had the new decor by now! I have to say that it was really special to stay RPC at Christmas. It was an absolute zoo in the lobby and it was nice to enjoy the ambience of it from the lounge, without actually being down there with a zillion people. We are planning on staying RPC again next December. Thank goodness for Value Season rates!

TripleFigs - I am banging my head on my desk!!! WHY DID I DO THAT???? I LOVE RPC!!!! I had to pay the stupid $50 change fee etc. I have not seen RPC come back available on the AP site at all. I don't think it will for that week. I am soooo bummed. I got that ressie after midnight the first night AP rates came out. My husband was sitting right there and said to book it!!!! UGH! Then two days ago we started talking & it just seemed to make sense to switch when I did all of our preplanning, with the 5 of us we will have to do and see so much more to keep everyone happy, and nobody cared (only me - sniff....) My husband told the girls they could each have another doll made in Germany, go to the Princess Tea Party again.... we could get a new wood floor, he and I could have our own trip.......I was ambushed and they got me when I was down and now I am POed. I am the one that does all the planning and Disney dreaming. They don't care!!!! I should have kept what I wanted. As far as SL, the truth is that it is another $1400 and for what? Some soda here and there or a couple treats before bed if we are around. (My husband talking) I guess the whole thing for me about RPC is the fun, convenience, and atmosphere of the main buiding. My family is right that we wouldn't be around much at the resort or for any of the snacks and usually aren't around for the evening treats, either, so it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to spend that much money on a room. They are right, but I am in agony!! :guilty: I love that main building......

DisneyDoogie - Thanks for the peptalk! :sunny: I just need to stop reading wonderful GF concierge reviews!! I just picked Sago Cay because it is close to the main building and Gaspies. It looks convenient and maybe has good views out either side. ??

I am just so worried that I am going to regret not being in the main building & things won't be as they were and it will depress me when I am there & I will be mad at my hubbie and kids for the decision they "forced" me to make. Sound like a spoiled brat, dont' I? I am not, really. I just love Disney World and enjoy the GF RPC so much and we have had such good times there. I just look so forward to our Disney trips (lives for disney) - more so than any other vacation. (Last year we went to Hawaii, and crazy enough I wasn't even as excited about HI as Disney!! ;) ) Anyway.....I am going to get over it and I know we will make some great Sago Cay memories on our March trip. :)

Thanks for letting me rant.

We were in 4304 and it also had that "Historic" decor. They are keeping a couple rooms in those mauve colors for people that supposedly like them and request them. I much prefer the newer color schemes. We have since had a couple other rooms and they were the pretty blue/yellow chintz. The views from those rooms are great, though! I love the GF main building at Christmas time. :wizard: Well....I love it any time. ;)

I think the GV rooms in Sago Cay have views of the marina. The rooms on the other side of Sago Cay that look onto the lagoon and the monorail are, I think, LV rooms.

Ok, for the 7 nights it is $963 more for RPC vs Sugar Loaf. Is it worth it?

TRIPLEFIGS - are you talking about your Xmas trip??? I would say ABSOLUTELY for Christmas especially. The atmosphere it worth it to me. I honestly am not crazy about the darkish lounge area of SL. I love the sunny bright lounge and views in RPC. I am still kicking myself......

Yes, Dec 15-22. I'll have to book it, pay the difference out of my money (b'day, etc) and then tell DH we got upgraded! He'll never know. And I'll get RPC! I'll email my AAA agent to see if it's available. I'm excited.

For us RPC would be $1200 more than SL. SL is $1400 more than GV. I hope GV is a deal for $2600. I don't want to feel like I am not getting my money's worth. .... I would rather pay more and get what I want/expect. KWIM?

I think RPC is worth it, but apparently there are people out there (my family) that would disagree.. :confused3 :earboy2:

Oh! You are too funny. My husband doesn't even know the kids and I stayed there on our August trip. He never asked!!! We never told!!! I still haven't put the pics on the computer. He will notice when he sees the views of the castle from our room!!!

Go for it if you are comfortable doing that!! :sunny: You really will enjoy the main building. I would love it at Christmas.

I was feeling guilty about staying RPC right before we left on Dec. 16th! But I can honestly tell you that it was worth every penny in my opinion and amazingly DH agreed!
