Is there a bus that goes from CSR to the Boardwalk?? Thought about having dinner at Spoodles one night that we weren't going to the parks and wasn't sure since CSR is a "convention" resort if they had a bus that went there???

The bus direct to the BW was eliminated quite a few years back. That is one perk I wish they would bring back!

I saw National Treasure Book of Secrets this weekend and i was surprised to see many references to the Lost City of Cibola. That is the name of the pool area at CSR. Then when they actually found the treasure, the temple and some of the ruins looked like the things found at the pool. It was cool!

Can anyone tell me if they have real coffee mugs in the rooms or do they give you styrofoam ones? I don't like to drink my coffee out of styrofoam in the morning, so I was wondering if I need to bring my own.

That is really fun.
Thank you for pointing it out.

They always had mugs and water glasses but not 100% sure if they have changed this since 4/2006. I'll post an answer on my trip in Feb 08.

Thanks, Buzz! I knew you would have the info I was looking for. I will ask again when you get back. I know it's silly, but this is important to me!

We will be staying at CSR in May 2008 for the first time. What are the chances that the dig site will be closed in May for refurb?

Newbie (but long time lurker) to the boards here.

Just wanted to thank Buzz for all the hard work in keeping us CSR converts in the know. As you can see, we've stayed at some fine resorts at WDW, but we've decided to hunker down at CSR for the foreseeable future. With 4 kids, it's much more affordable and practical to get 2 rooms at CSR which essentially gets us a suite for still the fraction of the cost anywhere else.

We'll be at CSR 2/19 - 2/22 if anyone else is around...

Thanks again!

I am trying to call CSR to request a room but having a hard time getting through to someone.

I am a little nervous!

Just Back - Not What I Hoped For

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We just got back today from 5 nights at CSR. We stayed in the Casitas Bldg. 3.

First the good stuff:
All castmembers were very helpful and friendly
The landscaping and scenery is beautiful

I don't have any comments on transportation, since we had our own car.

Food: We tried the Pepper Market, Maya Grill and the Rix Cafe. All three were adequate, but nothing really stood out (negative or positive).

Now the negatives:
Noise: We were staying in a third floor corner room. Several nights it was quite loud. Our last night there, several drunks were apparently making their way back to a nearby room at about 2:30am. They were yelling, laughing and banging on a door. At 3am, when they still had not gone into a room, my husband called the front desk. Security came out and things were quiet for about 10 minutes, then they started back up. I realize that this is not Disney's fault, but that doesn't make it any less annoying. I think that the new Rix lounge caters to a younger adult crowd, that may not always be as mature and respectful of others as they should be.
My other complaint was the cigarette smoke in common areas. Smokers were obviously not confining themselves to the designated smoking areas and the smell of cigarette smoke was very noticeable in many of the common areas.

We enjoyed all other aspects of our trip, but just wish we had stayed elsewhere. Thanks for letting me vent...

I know this was posted awhile back, but i just now read it. I wouldn't really blame the resort for loud people. My husband and I just returned from the Grand Floridian, we had 3 rooms of HEAVY smokers on our floor and the room right next to us (which was adjoining,) had an infant whose mother had it on a SCHEDULE! The schudule was up at 5:45 each morning and let it CRY until 7:00 before feeding it or picking it up. I did call and ask to have my room changed however there were no other king beds available. I wouldn't say it was Grand Floridians fault the parenst were rude or say I'd never stay there again, but it did put a damper on my trip.

Just got back from a week at the CSR and had an excellent time! My family of 4 including my wife and two boys (8 and 10 yrs old).

Disney Transportation was very smooth from the airport. Our flight arrived at MCO around 11:30am on Sat Jan 12 and we used Disney’s Express. The transport service was very comfortable and efficient. We arrived at CSR around 1:00pm (we had 1 stop at Pop Century). The bus ride was fine and they had a video running to keep the kids busy. I liked the fact that I didn’t have to “deal” with luggage or hassle of renting car and driving.

Resort check-in was smooth and easy. I had requested Cabana 8A or 9B ahead of time and was hoping there would be no problem. I wanted to be in Cabanas because they were close to the main building and Dig Site… I was relived when the CM told me we were in Cabana 9B. So far, so good.

The Cabana location was perfect… We had a water view room on the 2nd floor. Although, there was a tree obstructing our “water view” I was happy with location. I like 2nd floor better than 1st .. because it is usually quieter. The location 9B was great too.. only 3 minute walk to the main building (which was nice) since I found myself walking there often getting morning coffee or snacks, etc. ..Plus the Bus stop #1 was very close by.

My Comments on Room: The room was very adequate.. but not too fancy. Frankly the décor was kinda “cheesy” (although, clean and in good condition) … But I am not going to comment any more on this. Since this was to be expected from the photos I saw online The resort and room was perfectly fine for us and a very good value. We liked the curtain separating the closet and sink area.

The room was OK for the amount of time we were actually in it... My kids did comment that the room was small.. most likely because we are used to staying at suite hotels, like the Embassy suites which has 2 room suites.

All in all, the room had everything we needed.. Sony 20” TV, Fridge, Hair dryer, Iron etc. It did have a coffee maker too.. But we had purchased the resort mugs and I went down to Rix café every morning for fresh coffee (way better than the coffee in room).

We ate at Pepper Market a few times… We were on the DDP and it was very quick and easy for B-fast and Lunch (we did not eat dinner there). I thought the breakfast was good.. lots to choose from. My kids liked the Waffles! The lunches were good too… huge portions and lots to choose from. The DDP worked out and just to let you all know.. the tip was included with the DDP (so nothing out of pocket).

Comments on PM. Food was very good and if you are on the DDP an excellent value. There was lots to choose from and huge portions…As for the service, I would rather just get my own drinks rather than rely on waitress/waiters.. I did not see any reason for the Wait staff (except to clear tables etc). They did not add any value to my dining experience. In fact most of the times.. I just got our own drinks .. since they were not paying too much attention to our needs.

By the way, Rix café was great for a quick breakfast and afternoon snacks (Rix is take out only – but if you need a table .. there are plenty outside and also some tables available nearby inside)... I just grabbed stuff and took back to room. They had hot food (Like egg sandwiches, Quiche for b-fast) and other hot items for lunch.. Plus bakery items, Coffee, cereal, fruit, Frozen yogurt, Candy, Chips, beer, wine and lots of bottled drinks… I went there every morning and they filled my mugs up with their fresh coffee.

All in all, the resort was excellent. The Digsite was cool! The pool was huge with lots of room to play and plenty of seating. It had a nice Bar, take-out food and an arcade. If it was hotter weather .. I could imagine spending more time here. But we had rather cool temps.

The convention scene was to be expected.. yes there were business folks walking around.. but usually they were just walking to and from the convention site to their rooms. The impact of the convention center was not an issue for us. Now this could change, depending on what conference was in town. Since maybe some conventions are larger or have more "parties"... But we must have been here during a good time and I have no problem recommending this resort to families.

All in all, we would definitely stay here again!

Hi Buzz,

My sister and I are going to Disney the end of April, beginning of May. We're booked to stay at CSR and have requested a Casitas Room. My question doesn't really involved anything related to the resort but thought you could help. I'm looking at the EMH for Epcot and noticing that for the evening ones, what time would they start/end the EMH because Future World and World Showcase Close at different times. Would they begin after Illuminations?

Thanks!
