We will be (I hope) at the Yacht and Beach Club Sept. 11 - 18th. Our 4th trip to Disney, the 3rd to Y & B (Consg. floor -- we LOVE it there!). I think I'd like to make reservations for the new Luau show, we have never been. Is it in fact new and improved? What's the difference between the luau, and just having dinner there at night? Seems dinner is a set-price, with entertainment. At least, that's the way I'm reading it in the Birnbaum book, on page 58 when it describes the 'Ohana room. Can anyone tell me more about it? Thanks much.

We went a year ago. Never been before -so I can not compare.
But....
Some Lilo & Stich songs - no character apearances.
Fire 'eater', belly dancers- dances for birthdays and anniversaries.
Picture taken when you arrive.
Tropical drinks available - along with soda, water, etc.
salad was ok. Dinner was family style - pork & chicken I think.
I remember tasted decent. Not gourmet - but filling.

Glad we did it once- but my family favors HDD :)

Maybe someone else can add more.

how could you forget the beer?!:) actually, i couldn't get past my second one. my DW and I thought the salad, bread, and chicken were excellent this year. However, whatever they call the dessert, they should just change it to gross. the server kept saying it was 'no calories'. i don't know if she was trying to be funny, implying we could eat as much as we wanted, but it was terrible (a chocolate mousse or something). also, if you have kids, they invite them up to do hula dancing.

We agree with makelab about the food. Was surprised at how good it was! Thought the chicken, bread, salad, grilled veggies, & pineapple were all excellent. The story line of the show was maybe a little lame, but the dancing & costumes were all as good as I remember from the previous show. Enjoy!

The subject line kinda sums it up: if you were only going to do one, would you opt for the Luau or ps at 'Ohana? Let me add there are no children involved, just 2 adults who LOVE LOVE LOVE Disney!:)

I've done the Luau three times. Twice with the old show and once with the new show just this past May. The food was great as always but was really upset that they no longer serve the noodle salad. It was soooooo good.
It was our honeymoon so just two adults in our party. We found the show great, a little corny script but the hula dancing and entertainment were just like the original. Great! We really enjoyed ourselves and will go back.

PS: Your seats may be further at the back if you order them now. It happened to us once. It wasn't bad but the earlier the better. We were in front row this past trip. Awesome!

We have only been to the luau once and that was the new and improved show. I honestly cannot imagine it being any worse. The food was okay but if you want good food go to Ohana or Kona's. Geez, if you want beer go to a nice lounge. The luau food was just not worth it. I know you pay for the show too but this show was worse then the food! I was almost embarrassed to watch it. It has some corny storyline about some girl losing her hawaiian traditions. Some old lady is supposedly her old dancer teacher and tries to get her back into the spirit of Hawaii. So incredibly lame! The only good thing was the fire guy. He was very entertaining. If I had known what I know now about this show I would never have gone.
