The Nascar Thread

Let's talk about Nascar. Who are your favorite and least favorite drivers? Do you have a favorite track? If you have been to any races please share your stories. However please keep race picks on Tori's thread.
My favorite driver is Jeff Gordon I started watching Nascar in 1997 and I was impressed with the way he handled the boos and I thought he was cute. I don't like Dale Jr because I think he gets too much praise from the media and some of his fans have been brutal toward Jeff. I love the road courses and the short tracks. I hate restrictor plate racing with a passion.

Hi! My favorite track is Talladega and my second favorite is Daytona. My favorite driver changes every couple of race seasons---I tend to favor Smoke the past couple of years. I used to love rooting for the Alabama gang when I was a kid.

My favorite driver is Tony Stewart, though I admit I do not always agree with his actions on the track.

My favorite race is at Richmond in September. For some reason the spring race doesn't excite me as much, true before the Chase started with Richmond as the last race before the final ten races.

I grew up on property owned by the owners of NHRA's Maple Grove Raceway, knew very little about NASCAR growing up and knew much about drag racing. Sure I knew who Richard Petty was and Dale Earnhardt, Harry Gant (my uncle's fave), but the television coverage wasn't like it is today. We really picked an interest during Richard Petty's final season, Jeff Gordon's first and have been fans since.

I've not been to a live race, but I have been at Dover and Pocono while FIL did the driving programs. And, when we went to Florida in 1999 we went to Daytona for the track tour and Daytona USA.
