The musings of a Disney addict

My name is Talley and I've been an addict for approximately 4 years.

*cue group monotone voice* Hi, Talley.

;)

Seriously I am a disney addict. I am also addicted to office supplies, lotion, diet coke, really good salty chips, Kleenex and sports. There's a lot more that I am addicted to, but we will save that for another day. It's a weird combination I know. But I am what I am. I have been WDW sober since January 5, 2007. I did have a slight relapse in Oct 07, but I just went to DL. So it doesn't really count. :rolleyes1 I came up with these things that I am addicted too when I'm having a bad moment, day, week, etc. I think of 3 things that I couldn't live without. So that's how I came to find out what I was addicted too.

Ok let me get back on topic. This is the first time that I have posted on here, so I am a bit nervous. *high pitch irritating laugh*

Anyways, who am I? Besides a bit of a nut, I really am Talley, aka Corn Bread. I know it's a weird nickname, but I am from Nebraska and my DH just thinks that is hilarious. I turn the big 3-0 at the end of the year and that is what started this whole trip.

DH is known as Jason, Jay or the brown man. He really is brown, I promise. He has this beautiful caramel colored skin. I, on the other hand, have pasty white skin, almost clear. He darkens during the summer, I just turn various shades of pink no matter how much sunscreen spackle I put on.

Let me tell you about how we (I really mean, me) first discovered our (I mean, mine) love for WDW. *cue flashback music and fog machine* DH is actually from LA and went to DL several times a year. Sometimes they would just go after school because they didn't have anything else to do! So when we decided to get married in 2004, we decided to disagree about where we wanted to go on our honeymoon. :) He wanted to go to an island in El Caribe and I wanted to go to Europe. So I compromised. I would agree to an island where I would turn ugly shades of red if he would go to WDW. It was a tough decision because WDW was like blasphemy to him. He was a DL'r through and through. But he broke down....it was mostly my constant whining that broke him, but we ended up spending a fantastic 5 days at WDW.

So we (mainly me, but a little DH) were hooked. I had to go back and soon. There was still so much to see and do! So we met my in-laws there in Feb 06 and had to go back for a wedding the week between X-mas and New Year's of 06/07. You really couldn't pay me to go back during that week, but I was even more in love with WDW at Christmas.

The decorations, smells, excitement....I just couldn't stand it. So for my 30th birthday I decided that we were going to WDW. I really wanted to go during the Food & Wine Festival, however, I am a wedding planner and I am booked pretty solidly in October which means September is booked too. I "settled" for Disney at Christmas.

We leave December 5th from Omaha at 5:30 and get to Orlando at about 10:30. We will be there until December 15th. My birthday isn't until the end of the month, but it's close enough. We are staying at the Pop Century, mainly because it's cheap and we really don't spend a lot of time in our room. Our theory is as long as there is a bathroom and a bed it's a good room to be in.

I am very excited to go. As I mentioned before this is my first PTR on here and I've spent most of my time lurking. It really has made me realize how little I know about WDW! Which is awesome, gotta learn something every day right?

Anyways, that is enough of my musings for today. I will post again with more random things as I think of them, like our ADR's, our itinerary, etc......

Tootles!

Rough that you have to "settle" for Christmas. I'm jealous. Have a great trip.

An addict or not?

So I thought that I was an addict. It turns out I'm more like a binge disney person. I go hardcore when I'm planning, but not any other time. I also realize that I am a rookie addict. I had no idea about all the resources on here and other websites. Where has all this stuff been all my life?!?! :confused3

Moving forward

It's ok though. I spent about a week furiously writing down my "itinerary" and paging through my 2006 UG. I had made most of our ADR's and then I started to read PTR's on the boards.

It's like I was being mocked. Here I am, super wedding planner and my plan was a joke! So in the trash went the plan! I'm starting over....

Poor DH. He already thinks I'm nuts anyway and now I'm spending what few extra minutes I have like this.... :surfweb: I didn't receive my status as a vacation general for being lazy!

*cue flashback music and fog machine*

Back in 2003, when DH and I were just engaged, his sister wanted to go on vacation. DH and her had always taken vacations together. When we moved to NE that stopped and she was  She stilled lived in CA. We compromised (we folded like a cheap suit!) and said let's go to NYC and DC. At the last minute we threw Gettysburg in there. We were going for 10 days and were very excited.

Now as I mentioned, I am a serious planner to a fault. I don't do anything without a plan. While we (I mean, myself) were planning this trip to the East Coast I had an itinerary, restaurant ideas, subway routes mapped, driving routes mapped, folders for travel documents and pouches/envelopes for receipts. I had everything in a binder. There were maps, excel spread sheets, brochures....you get the picture. We flew from Omaha and SIL flew from Los Angeles. We met in St. Louis and flew into Baltimore. SIL had rented the car and I had done the hotel rooms. We were to drive from Baltimore to NYC on a Friday morning. We let the brown man drive because for some reason they thought it would be better for me to drive in NYC. They reasoned that I had taken racecar driving schools, it would equate to NYC driving. Anyways....in the car I pull out the binder. My SIL starts laughing hysterically at me and says we can just throw that away because we are going to do whatever we want. I mention that had I been incharge of the rental car we wouldn't be driving the "brown beast". Supposedly she had rented a full size....we ended up with an ugly brown taurus station wagon! It did end up being a good car though.

hmmm....we will see who wins that battle. :rolleyes1

Needless to say by the time we got to DC they were saluting me as the vacation general. I was the one to get us up, keep us on schedule and got us to where we wanted to go. At the end of the trip, my SIL gave me this huge hug and said had we not had the binder we wouldn't have done half of what we did. heh...I know. :woohoo:

So flash forward to now....I am panicing now! :scared1: I didn't know that I would need a WDW binder. I thought it could just be basic it worked before! Well kind of....I have so much work to do on this trip. What am I doing on here?!?! As soon as I get everything somewhat arranged, I will post an updated schedule.
