The most perfect trip ever!

Love the TR. Your dd is precious. I am from Hammond, I'm sure you know where that is, :rotfl: I was wondering if you can book the guide if you are staying at the value resorts as well. Can't wait to hear more about your trip. Soo sorry about the toes, I do understand the inevitable yelp of pain.

yes, the guides can even be booked if your staying off property.

The cost is 120 an hour for a 6 hour minimum in case anyone was wondering.

Day 7 AK with Wildlife discovery tour

Believe it or not but this morning my toe was actually feeling better wooohoooo
We ate breakfast in the lobby and took a cab to AK. They opened the park up early this particular morning...so off to EE we went to get FP as Savannah is a thrill ride junkie! We get the FP and the stand by was 5 minutes. I asked the cm if it was accurate and he bet me $5 I would see him within 15 minutes LOL
It was a total walk on! I was so surprised! We laughed with the CM as it was actually 18 minutes when he saw us (we looked in the gift shop for a few minutes) and he said the gift shop didnt count hahaha
We then went to get FP for the rapids (yup it was already time to get a new FP as we got an EARLY one for EE)
We then walked on the rapids! I got soaked AGAIN..... not sure why I am always the one to get soaked lol
So here we are at 9:30 with EE and rapids done and FP for both in my backpack wooohooooo
All that and we didnt have to run!

We then went through the tiger trek... I got some cute pics of savannah

IMG_1109.jpg

We went into the bat house and while I was looking at the bats eat their breakfast Savannah hollard to me "Hey mom you should see the skeleton of this boy bat" I looked at the very confused CM and then saw the light go off behind his head and he started laughing REALLY hard!!!! OHHHH I had to go see this hahahaha....
IMG_1102.jpg

After that chuckle I took a few more pics
IMG_1100.jpg

IMG_1101.jpg

IMG_1097.jpg

IMG_1110.jpg

The tigers were being lazy and I couldnt get a decent shot of them this time =(

We then went to EE and the rapids AGAIN....
Here i am soaked to the bone YET AGAIN I got the waterfall hill splash with half of the water in my lap hahaha

IMG_1131.jpg

And again I was the wetest person to come off the ride :rotfl2:
WHY ME :rotfl2:
IMG_1117.jpg

IMG_1119.jpg

IMG_1114.jpg

Here we go on EE yet again...

IMG_1132.jpg

After finishing up there, we went to dino land to do the puke ride... oh i mean primevil whirl hahahaha
I hate this ride but i did it for my DD

IMG_1133.jpg

IMG_1138.jpg

IMG_1143.jpg

IMG_1149.jpg

I then convinced her to do dinosaur with me even though she was a little scared
IMG_1157.jpg

IMG_1158.jpg

IMG_1159.jpg

IMG_1165.jpg

We were RIGHT THERE when the ride broke down... the cm's had to go get the people on the ride! They gave us fp for later in the day
IMG_1166.jpg

I do want to say that the night before I reviewd my pics and realized I missed soooo much! I was so wrapped up in the Disney magic I forgot to take more pics :rotfl2:
this day I tried to fix that :cool1:

Instead of Dino, we went to lunch at the Restrauntsaurs place... typical fast food but I do want to say that the service was super FAST!
IMG_1168.jpg

Then we made our way over to Africa ..the marketplace is where we needed to meet our guide for the safari tour.

This sign made me chuckle
IMG_1169.jpg

A few things about this tour.... they say to be there 20 minutes early.... be there and please be ready...potty and all. no drinks or food unless they are capped drinks and food is in a sealed container... they are really funny about smells on the tour as the animals get nosey when they smell something good lol
We had 2 other families with us... 1 a newly wed couple and the other family.... family from HELL..... they showed up 10 minutes LATE...yes we had to wait for them.... and then had to use the bathroom and came back with coffee and snacks which we had to wait for them to finish as they would not throw them out and they couldnt go on the tour AACKKKK this family was a bunch of pains in the butts through the whole tour!!!!
Even the guides were rolling their eyes and sighing... the age is 3 and older but they had a 1 year old and they paid for her ticket and didnt mention that she was under 3.... the guides werent sure what to do so let it all slide... ticked me off too as this kid was a total BRAT the entire time LOL
We got in our van.... nice seats and great windows! The talking guide was the lady in charge of all the apes in the park. we learned soooo much from her and it was REALLY cool hearing how the safari is run behind the scenes!
We drove backstage but were not allowed to take photos =(
pretty boring stuff except for the barns....

then we were in the safari..... we drove all over the area in and out of the ride path looking for the animals.... we saw every animal on the safari EXCEPT the zebras. We found out there were no zebras on the safari as they were all in time out for fighting and picking on the new giaraff in the exhibit... this giaraff was from the AKL and was having some trouble being accepted by the others and the zebras were picking on it sooooo they were put in a backstage pasture until the new giaraff was doing better. There were so many stories we learned... some really cool things about how all the animals REALLY do go back to the barn (the safari animals) each night. I thought for sure they stayed out but they dont.... they blow a whistle and all the animals stampede to their barns as trained. They get special treats in their enclosures so they RUN to the barns LOL
its also cooler and has central air LOL
The reason they do this is the handlers can do a quick inspection each evening of the animals... looking for wounds that might need to be treated and what not.... animals in any enclosure can have tiffs with each other and you dont want a cut becoming infected.
Also the other reason is if they need to get them inside in a REAL hurrt for weather...... they are trained to come running at the whistle and they keep the training fresh in their wee brains lol
Also some of the animals take birth control (such as the hippos) and some of the older ones have to take arthritus meds and junk like that.....

We also learned about the breeding problems with the hippos LOL they had an over population of hippos .... no matter how they tried to seperate them the males would still end up with the females LOL they started them on birth control and a high voltage shock thing along the enclosures.... when you ride you will see on 1 side the gals and the other side of the road are the boys pining away for their loves LOL

There is an elephant due to have a baby any day now.... we were hoping she would have it while we were there but no such luck.... they put her in the barn as she was getting a little too nervous on the safari.
They have had 3 baby elephants born on property. The first one was super tricky as the herd had been rescued from other locations and had never seen a baby before!!!! What a challenge to train a whole herd about babies LOL
They would used large barrels and roll them between the elephants legs to teach them how to dodge things between the legs.... the new mother totally freaked when the baby came and had no idea what to do!!! It took her a week to accept the baby and they really had to work hard to get the rest of the herd to understand the baby..... by the time the 3rd baby was born they had it down PAT! The reason they wanted them to have babies is elephants are VERY strong mothers... its part of their make up to be elephants.... its not like other animals.... female elephants have to care for their young or they dont do well in captivity...... they need a strong family unit to do well.

Oh and when you go by the mandrills you usually dont see them.... but if you yell out and call for SNOW.... the name of the female... she usually comes running and bobs her head for you...WAY COOL! We always miss the nadrills but as soon as we yelled out for snow she came running from her cover and was bobbing her head for us!
Here are a few pics from the safari
IMG_1175.jpg

IMG_1178.jpg

Remember dingy family? Well the guide told us this particular giraffe was pregnant. They had just found out a few days beforehand that she eas expecting. Well the mother from FAMILY FROM HELL REALLY AND TRULY ASKED:
"Do Giraffe's breastfeed?"
I HAD to do it... ohhh yes I had to...
"Nope they run down to walmart and pick up formula on the way home from work.... here's your sign"
I said it laughingly and she thought it was funny but SHEESH what a ding bat :rotfl2:

IMG_1179.jpg

These next shots are of the 3 babies playing in the water!!!!! It was sooooooooooo cute!!! They were like puppies splashing and chasing and blowing water on eachother...along with rolling in the water!
IMG_1180.jpg

IMG_1181.jpg

IMG_1183.jpg

The guide told us out of all the years she has been there she has only seen this 3 times so it was special for us to experience it! They really were like little kids, splashing and rough housing with eachother! It was adorable to see the mama's patiently watching their babies get rid of extra pent up energy :lmao: It gave me a soft spot towards the mama's as I could almost hear the sigh that MOM sigh while their kids were acting like knuckleheads :rotfl2:

This next story is kind of funny.... there is a herd of thompson gazzelles as most of you know... well 1 of the thompsons doesn't like the herd and would rather mate with the other thingies (i forget the name of them but i think its the onyx)
anyway... they are trying to steer this little thompson back with its herd but it won't go!!!! It thinks its an onyx and its IN LOVE hahahahahah

IMG_1174.jpg

What a freak lol they have tried EVERYTHING to get it to go back to its own herd ... i mean we cant have the thompson mating with the other animals at disney now can we?!?!!? hahahaha

We saw the rhinos but as we were SOOOOOO close we had to be super quiet..... they have been known to charge the van before when disturbed =0 of course the guide tells this ONCE WE ARE THERE... no warning beforehand :rotfl2:
of course bratty kid had to start screaming at that point AAACKKKKKK but the rhinos just got up and walked off instead of charging I thought we were going to end up looking like the tourist on the Jungle cruise at MK :rotfl2:

IMG_1187.jpg

IMG_1188.jpg

IMG_1189.jpg

Another funny story... this ostrich likes to sit on the eggs in the safari :rotfl2: it doesnt realize they are FAKE eggs and so it sits on them happily ...so for those of you who were ever tricked by those ostrich eggs... even the ostrich gets tricked!
IMG_1191.jpg

Here is our guide
IMG_1192.jpg

After the tour they gave us a special collectors pin and a pair of Fastpasses for the safari ride. This was great as the line was 60 minutes long! I will say ... such a let down to do this safari and then hit the regular ride :rotfl2:
The cost was $45 a person but half of that goes to conservation efforts.
I would never miss this tour again! I loved it! I am not big on the ride as it goes too fast past the animals and you miss so much ...and the dorky story line takes away from the actual animals. It was really impressive to spend 90 minutes out there watching the animals (no storylines)
and hearing how the whole thing is ran. I totally fell in love with the safari during this tour!

Savannah had been bugging me all week to get her face painted... so I finally gave in and we did it in Africa right outside the safari ride
IMG_1193.jpg

IMG_1194.jpg

She then BEGGED me to get my face painted ...ohhh boy!
IMG_1198.jpg

IMG_1199.jpg

IMG_1201.jpg

We were able to get on Dino after our face painting as it was up and running by then. It scared the daylights out of savannah... she tried to climb back in the womb during the ride :rotfl2:

To soothe her ruffled feathers, I bought her the dino backpack she had been wanting. Since we have been home she carries it everywhere with her :rotfl:
IMG_1202.jpg

Here are our fastpass pics from this day... in no particular order from morning til evening...

image071.jpg

it was started to rain ... and it was looking like we were in for a storm... so we left AK and took the bus to the resort...aaackkkkkk i hate those busses!
took us FOREVER to get to the resort as we had to go to BB, DTD and then WL before they stopped at GF
Here is savannah taking a nap
IMG_1203.jpg

IMG_1206.jpg

So we get back to the resort and there are ads everywhere for the Camp rock beach party and premier movie at our resort. Savannah is a huge Jonas brother's fan OH LORD...
I of course had ressies for Les Ceiller's for dinner that night... so which is it? DO we do the Camp Rock beach party or Les Ceillers?

hmmmm i didnt think through the face painting thing.... i had to walk through the lobby and everything looking like a doofus hahahahah peeps were staring at me like i was NUTS hahaha oh well.... i was being silly and this was my mother daughter bonding trip lol .... so i just ducked my face and kept my head down as much as possible... of course savannah wanted a snack in the lobby sooooooo my humiliation knew no bounds lol

IMG_1212.jpg

IMG_1213.jpg

IMG_1214.jpg

Soooo what did we (meaning HER) decide? yup I blew off ressies for Les Ceiller's to go see the camp rock beach party with my daughter AAACKKK the things we mom's do!

We went up to the room and washed off the make up and changed into our matching camp rock t shirts savannah found for us ...... ohhh yeah this was my night to be cool and shine hahahahaha
After we got cleaned up we ate lunch at the grill...well we took the dessert down to the beach along with some towels and laid out there and I let her play in the sand while I relaxed... what a nice quiet spot!!!!!

IMG_1216.jpg

IMG_1219.jpg

IMG_1225.jpg

just to prove I am dorky enough to wear the shirt :rotfl2:

IMG_1238.jpg

IMG_1250.jpg

IMG_1256.jpg

the big camp rock beach party... oh boy ... of course i had dinner ressies for les ceillers that night which i had to blow off =(
but savannah loves the Jonas brothers soooooo we went to the party... not many of the pics came out as it was on the beach at night..... but it was a lot of fun for her. the poly and the GF youth corrdinators got this together as they got the DVD before the premier.... with the promise they could play it 10 minutes after it started on the disney channel but we had nooo commercials and it was on a large projector screen and with a 100 of screaming giggling little girls to watch it with hahahah all the girls had a blast. They had popcorn and drinks and Steve the guy from the GF had the whole group sing happy birthday to savannah.... he was her special pet that night and the 2 of them cut up and teased eachother all night. There was one really nasty mom there that almost ruined the whole thing for the girls and she really ticked me off..... but the girls just giggled and gagad over the movie ...

the problem? about 10 minutes until the end of the movie this mom with a stroller ..baby in it.. and a preschool little girl (what she was doing at the jonas brothers beach party with a toddler and a baby at 11pm is beyond me....)
started screaming at the staff as they didnt have security there to walk her back to her room!!!!!!! I dont mean a fuss she was red faced and SCREAMING at these cm's... who were no more than kids themselves! They put this party together for the girls to all be able to watch the movie together and have fun...... instead by theirselves in the rooms....
this mom started such drama ... she actually ran over and unplugged the DVD player as she couldnt hear herself scream loud enough!!!!!!!!!!!! talk about some DRAMA when the movie stopped and all 100 little girls SCREAMED NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hahahahahah they got the movie up and running again and Steve (the GF corridnator) walked this mom away from the party with her 2 little ones... not sure what happened after that but she was being a total meanie to EVERYONE!!! She even ran over one little girls hand with her stroller and didnt even aplogize... the little girl was laying in the grass on her tummy watching the movie and WHAM got her hand ran over! I do want to say the girl in charge of the poly kid activities was super nice... silly and great with the teeny boppers!!!!!! I really liked her a lot! She even brought out a whole wheeled cart of blankets to keep the skeeters off of the girls as it was dark and they were out in force.

After drama queen left... we watched the end of the movie and everyone cheered. It wasn't a party any parent would be thrilled at (i had to take some tylenol) think little girl slumber party and you get the idea LOL
but all the girls HAD A BLAST!!!!!
Here are a few of the pics but they didnt come out very good
IMG_1258.jpg

IMG_1259.jpg

IMG_1260.jpg

As you can see, the pics came out black once the party started... so no good photos of the beach party!

It was a late night for us with watching the movie and playing at the ebach party! I wasn't overly worried as tomorrow was our last day.... Savannah had loads of fun and even though I ditched Les ceillers for this party...well it will be something she will always remember :goodvibes

I absolutely love your TR! You have such great photos of everything I wish I could see! The safari sounds like so much fun, getting all that inside info about the animals. I recently went on the safari at Six Flags Great Adventures, but that's the kind that you drive in on your own so it's definitely NOT the same. I would definitely do that ticket price for my best friend and me just because it sounds so great! Thanks for sharing what you heard!

I love that your DD loves that Dinosaur backpack!

You seem like a fantastic mom :) Even though everyone was staring at you with your face painted, chances are you'll never see those people again, but your daughter will remember it forever! Plus, to give up Le Cellier~ haha ... that deserves some award!

And WOW, that meanie mother at the Camp Rock Beach Party ... just ... WOW. Who even THINKS to unplug the DVD player?! How does that even cross someone's mind?!?

Looking forward to more!

Thats what I was thinking about the face painting and the teeny bopper t shirt... only she will remember those things and hopefully remember them fondly :rotfl2:
It was great to act like a kid! Mom's get so caught up in being MOMS we forget to act silly and have fun with our kids.

Blowing off Les Ceiller's hurt me as I do like eating here... we did it earlier in our trip for lunch but... well...errr... lets just say the beach party was most defiantly HER idea :rotfl2:

The backpack is really cute! She is outside right now with it and her friend across the street LOL
She carries it everywhere~ I did get her several stuffed animals during the week as she loves stuffed animals... but by far dino baby is her fav :goodvibes

The wildlife discovery tour is opened to conceirge guest only... I just wanted to point that out in case anyone wanted to sign up. It was a great tour~ I loved it and so did Savannah.

Thanks for the response! What's concierge guest only?

Thanks for the response! What's concierge guest only?

Club level/ conceirge same thing...

most of your deluxe resorts offer club level rooms and buildings. It cost more to stay conceirge but there are also many perks to it. If you check out the resort forum you will find many conceirge / club level threads over there .

I am not sure if I answered your question or not ..so going to attempt to again..

If you are staying in a regular room... even at a deluxe resort, you can't book the wildlife discovery tour. You must be staying in a conceirge club level room in order to book this tour.... same as the AKL sunrise and sunset safari tours except this is done in the parks rather than the AKL. Any conceirge guest can do this Wildlife tour whereas you must be staying AKL conceirge to do the sunrise and sunset safari tour. I hope that helps

More great info, Brook! I am amazed because you did so many things I have on my list ;)

I was really happy to read about the Wildlife Discovery Tour, we are very interested in doing that but I had not seen much about it. And, how terrific that part of the price goes towards conservation!

Thanks for the wonderful installments!

This truly seems like a trip Savannah will always recall with happy memories :goodvibes

Thanks! The wildlife tour was REALLY worth it! We loved it so much. I just got our pictures in from Kodak... now I have 1800 pictures to go through and organize.... I am a bit of a picture nut :rotfl2:
I swear I only made you guys suffer through half the pics I took :rotfl2:

The tour sounded great, I don't think we'll ever be able to afford to stay CL though as just our flights are costing $5,400 this summer :faint:

The beach party also sounded great, last August we had to stay in and watch the premier of HSM2 with my girls as it didn't come out here till the October so there was no way they were missing it :rotfl2: What a horrid lady though :headache:

oh my gosh...loving your trip report. you are such a terrific mom. i have been called the world's greatest aunt (by my niece & nephews)...we must be related. can't wait to hear the rest of your report.

by the way...that mom at the camp rock gathering was out of control. some people are so self involved. and with kids that age, hello....free disney chanel in your room...watch it there! wonder what they did with her. my hope.....that they threw her off of property for tampering with disney equipment.

Yup I got to play the fun aunt as well :rotfl2:
My nephew and niece have an aunt on the other side of the family.. she is a college instructor and alllll about educational games and Learning fun. My nephew all week kept telling me I WAS THE FUN AUNT :rotfl2:
gotta love that!

I have no idea what happend to that lady once the walked her off... most likely just walked her back to her room so she basically got what she wanted I am sure. I still dont see why she would have an infant and a toddler out there at 11pm for a teeny bopper party and then complain as nobody was there right that second to walk her back to her room? silly if you ask me!
I will say the party was fun for the moms... we all sat together and groaned and moaned with the squeals of the little teeny boppers :rotfl2:
good adult mom bonding time for the adults I guess LOL

Of course we were all in it for the fun and loved seeing the little girls have fun.... but it was nice to be able to sit with other parents while savannah had a blast with the other little girls!

Tell me Brook...did you happen to see Towel baby or the Teddy Bear lady at the Grand Floridian? You said ya'll stay there a lot so I was wondering! :rotfl2:

I love the face paint on you guys! I did BBB w/ my DD a couple of years ago and people thought it was the cutest thing! I'm sure they weren't looking at you thinking WTH!? but instead thinking, awww what a sweet thing to do with your DD!

Yes we do some crazy things for our kids. I took mine to see Jonas Brothers in concert last October! You don't even know how much I would have liked to have sold those tickets for the crazy prices people were offering...::yes:: but we went to the show and had a GREAT time. They'll never forget that! No amount of money could make up for their faces during that concert!

Sounds like you guys had a blast and bonded nicely on this trip! She'll never forget it! :)

nope didn't see her. I will be honest I really didnt look but I would think something like that would stand out :rotfl2:

Yup..the things we moms do for our kids :rotfl2:
I was okay with it util we hit the main lobby of the GF at dinner time. All those peeps dressed up and going to dinner and I looked like a big goof :rotfl2:
