I was wondering if like with WDW can you buy a 10 day ticket with park hopper at DL?

And is 10 days to much?

(If you can) Would'nt you get more bang for your buck through buying a 10 day ticket versus a 4 or 5 day ticket? .... Just like with WDW.

I believe it only goes up to 8-days. And like WDW now does it, those 8 days have an expiration date of 14 days after first use. DL doesn't have a "no expiration" option like WDW (whose no expiration option doesn't necessarily save you much money anyway).

Now unlike WDW (I think anyway) APs are more mildly priced. For us, it's cheaper to get a Deluxe AP if we plan on going to the park twice in one year, our normal visit being for 3 days each time.

Even though I live in the same state, I still dont get to go there very often. So I will be going for a CHUNK of time all at once. "No Experation" means nothing to me. I just want to get the most bang for my buck. And get the absolute maximum out of my trip! :groom:

I am not sure what "bang for the buck" means here. Do you live close enough you can commute, or are you planning to stay at a local hotel? It is true that the cost per day goes down with additional days, but it still will cost you something each day, especially if you have a hotel. If you plan to commute, a Deluxe AP would be the way to go.

In any case, I know of people who spend 8+ days at DLR. After four days my kids are saying "can we leave now?". I think for most people 8-10 days in a 14 day period would be too much DLR, as there is not enough to keep you busy all that time. You can thoroughly do DLR in four days at a good pace, and five days at a leisurely pace.

I live abou 8 and a half hours away.

I plan on staying in an "Off property" resort. Probably one across the street or something. I dont know what AP is. At WDW, the longer you stay, the less you pay. If I got a 4 day ticket, I would pay like $190 dollars. But if I upgraded to a 10 day ticket, I would pay only $216. Is that the same for for Disneyland?

Yes, but WDW starts making steep discounts after about 5 day tickets, while DLR does it after about 3 days.

In any case, an Annual Pass (AP) lets you go year round and a Deluxe AP costs about $240 - see http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/reserve/ticketListing?name=TicketListingPage. A 5 day ticket to DLR costs $189. So for an extra $50 you can go year round, except for certain blackout days - usually Saturdays and holidays.

Well like some sort of confession I will admit that we will be doing 10 days of Disneyland in June! Some of those days we will go to the parks first thing then head to the beach, pool or someplace else. Then we will come back that night for fireworks and maybe a few other things. We are weird, we can't seem to get sick of Disneyland no matter how long we stay (7 days is our current record). We will be doing Deluxe AP's. It makes the most sense especially since you get 10% off at virtually every restaurant (counter and full service). We will be blacked out on our Saturday so we will have to pay the upgrade ($30 a piece) but I think my brother (who has the good sense to be married to a cast member) will be able to give us at least two free tickets to cut down on that. Or we can just not go that day giving us 9 days instead of 10. I am betting we will pay the upgrade knowing us ;) .

If I lived an eight hour drive away, hands down I would do the Deluxe AP. Even if I only did that one trip it would be a great deal, esp with the discounts. And if you can work it right you can take a second trip. The Deluxe AP will expire exactly one year after the FIRST day you use it. So you could take a second trip way down the road and still have your pass.
