As soon as we got on the first Monorail the smell was like a punch in the face, WOW! I figured, well it must be from a fellow passenger. No big deal.

Then we picked up our connecting Monorail and the stench was just as bad. We did not board with the same people so it had to be the Monorail. We purposely went to Epcot to catch the Monorail to the GF for dinner because it would be our only Monorail rides of the trip. What a terrible experience.

I had to ponder which smell was worse, the Monorail B.O. or Stitch's chili cheese burp....at least I laugh about Stitch.

Yikes! Has anyone else noticed this? What in the World can they do about it?

P.S. I asked a CM to let me nephew ride up front, he "No. It's company policy". I said "Oh, they changed it because of the accident?" , he said "No, it's the company policy" I knew he was wrong but I had to board the stinky Monorail so I left it at that.

On behalf of all Europeans I just wanted to say: "Thanks". No racial stereotyping here then!

LOL! I was thinking the same thing...

The stench is SO BAD on some of the monorails that I sometimes wish for someone with bad BO to sit next to me! :rotfl2:

Seriously though, one monorail trip the stench was so bad that I gagged the entire trip and had to hold my shirt over my nose/mouth and focus on the downy fresh smell to prevent me from yacking. It's nasty and really in this day and age, and given the money floating around in Disneyville, you'd think they could figure something out. Hang a car tree up in them or something LOL!

Yeah, really... what the heck is that about? :confused3

A lot of my family is Italian, yet I never notice any BO around them. And I was born & raised in Canada.

I figured, well either someone on board is European or just sweats a lot. No big deal.

.

Another European here - I had no idea this reputation existed. I didn't think Europeans were smellier then Americans.

Maybe I am!:lmao:No one has ever mentioned this to me and I have never noticed any one else round me who is smelly.......maybe that is because we are all smelly:scared1:

Come to think of it.......I have never smelled anything nasty on the monorails, probably because it is normal to us......oh heck!

Going to have a shower now. It has been at least a month since I've had one after all!! Now if only I can find my "Wet Dog" deodoarant.

On point of the topic, it rained off and on while we were there a few weeks ago, and the monorail always smelled like wet dog.

Not meaning to insult any dogs!!!!

:)

I might have a nose problem?, I have never notice any unusuall bad smell?. Yikes,:scared1:sorry europe! I dont think the op ment it that way,I think?:confused3. I think i speak for most that we love our nighbors on the other side of the Atlantic, sometimes we have a weird way of saying It:lmao:

Maybe I just had Katytrott on my monorail the whole time.

LOL...Lighten up..I'm just joking, read the rest of the post and there are other one-liners.

And for the record, I'm first generation American and am going to Europe this summer to visit family.

LOL...you guys crack me up as to how sensitive some of you are. LOL

The monorail has smelled like, well, like the monorail for as long as I can remember. And that goes back to '99. It has always smelled the same way. It has to be a combination of materials and the recycled air.
It's funny but my dd, 16, was just talkng about the monorail smell last night. She said she misses it and can't wait to smell it again in July.

Oh, and that 'no one up front' issue? Yes, it is company policy. Now, that policy did pretty much change due to the accident. Can you blame the monorail pilot for not wanting to discuss something that was, in all likihood, very painful? Since you knew about the 'accident' I can only assume that you knew, going in, that Disney no longer allows passengers up front with the pilot. The boards were covered with that news and subsequent discussion. Were you just hoping an exception would be made??

Um..ok...wow...

Well anyway, the smell is gross, and it also smells like urine a lot of the time.

I would totally hang out with you, smell and all!

I am laughing hysterically at the word smelly and my kids are staring at me.

you-are-peein' ?? Sorry couldn't resist. really it's absurd to try to generalize someone because of smell??

I was just there 2 years ago but didn't remember it smelling like that. I'll remember for next time.

I did read about the accident on the boards but I guess not in depth enough to know that they had stopped allowing people to ride up front all together. The policy makes sense to me and I didn't argue with the guy nor was I upset that my nephew would be unable to ride because, like I said, the policy makes sense.
