Thought I would update you one the DIY goings on at our new home!!
Anyone ever seen The Money Pit? Tom Hanks and Shelley Long (80's movie) - about a couple who buy a house - and everything goes wrong......!!!
The house is 26 years old (c1978) - and by the looks of things hasn't been decorated or upgraded - maybe even cleaned - since then.
Things are going a bit pear shaped - with the prospect of having to replace floors in the bathroom and kitchen - due to bad plumbing, and also the living room - since DH tried to climb the ladder and the ladder collapsed through the floor - and DH came crashing to the floor........(No musn't laugh........
)
The tiles in the bathroom and kitchen have been in place 26 years - and when they came off - the wall did too, so need new walls in bathroom and kitchen!!!
Everything has gone over budget already - including the replacement of the central heating boiler.
The old bath that DH tried to remove last night is CAST IRON - and almost killed himself trying to get it downstairs.
The house is now almost a shell - awaiting plasterer, Gas engineer, kitchen delivery, bathroom delivery, decorating, tiling, carpet-fitting - MOVING IN, oh and a small matter of the September Quiz!!! It will give me an excuse to get home everynight while DH continues his hard work!
But I know that in the end - it will be worth it!!!!!
