The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

That new, lame special effect on Tower of Terror was part of the "update" for the Summer Nightastic happenings. Jack Spence from allears wrote a blog about it. Those coconuts were such a great idea! How many dads can say they have one of those?! Isn't it great when the buses cooperate with you? We had great luck with the DHS buses, we only waited 15 minutes once, and most times it was no longer than 2 minutes.

It's good to know that that effect wasn't there before and I had never noticed it.

Yep, good bus mojo so far.

:rotfl: I'm glad that's never happened to me!!!
Can't wait to read about it.....:rolleyes1

No, you don't want that. Hey, you just did read about it! There's no more to the story except that picture I didn't get.

Woah, man, I can see why they don't need an exterminator.

That's like you can always tell a happy motorcylist....from the bugs in their teeth.

Nice picture of the Hidden Mickey!

Oh geez, where?

Not to mention that obscure "Axiom of Fronts and Backs!

Um, okay.

Hey, I think I saw that shirt on a guy at Kidani last summer....

They're very popular with the cool crowd. :cool2:

There I was giving you too much credit. That was the first thing that jumped out at me and I was thinking how :thumbsup2 it was!

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

You do have a sort of CC aura to you!

They were laughing........on the inside!!!:rotfl2:

Well that's a relief.

That's pretty cool. Haven't heard of those, but I may have to check them out when we're there in December.

Yep-er.

Don't look now, but that guy behind you looks pretty hungry for some coconut.

He does, doesn't he?!

Pretty good salute! And she even wore green for the occasion!

That's the closest Mickey comes to camouflage I suppose.

Dang, I've obviously been reading my insider tips somewhere else. Another "hidden" treasure I didn't know about! And they say you can't learn anything in a glennbo TR......

Who says that?!

:lmao: That's awesome!

Great update! I loved the story about the lady on the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster- I would have been freaked out if I were her, too- I'm always irrationally worried about my lap/shoulder bar not locking and the ride taking off anyway. ;)

Oh man, that was the funniest thing to watch!

i knew you were getting the coconuts, because you told me about it at bob, they do look really cool

I forgot that I had told you that.

yeah i wasnt impressed with the new update on the ride, the lady told us they were doing it for the summer months only.

It was okay. I wonder why they'd stop doing it after the summer is over?

speaking of RNRC did you notice that they took down the song notes thingy in the air when you are walking up to the ride? i think i liked it better when that was up there before.

Yes. The whole great big guitar was barricaded off, so I assume they're doing some work on it. I imagine the notes will be brought back when they're done.

i bet the face area of those green army men get really really hot in there breathing into that thing.

Yes, I'll bet. But probably not any worse than any of the other costumed characters.

and i looked for that rope when we went by it but couldnt find it.

It's easy to find if you walk along the Indiana Jones side, rather than the side with the buildings. You'll come right to it.

also there is suppose to be a electrical box when you leave the movie room in TOT that if you pull something happens, but when i was leaving i saw like 3 boxes, and the CM was right behind me i asked him about it and he looked at me like are you on something you cant pull that...i just walked away, hemust not be in the know.

Hmm, I don't know.

I thoroughly enjoyed the last update. I love that take off on RnRc :woohoo: - you can't help but open your mouth! I always feel like it is pulling my skin away from my face!!! Your picture is great.

Great, thanks! The start of RnRC is great! And so is the rest, for that matter.

I have only ridden ToT once - but that was so long ago, I can hardly recall any part of the ride. There's not too many who looks too excited in that ride photo. But I'll still ride it again provided that the lines aren't over two hours long the next time I go. That's why I haven't ridden it in over two years. :scared1:

Guess I should get there early enough for FP's, huh? :teacher:

That must have been when it was new, I haven't seen the wait-time anywhere near that lately. The crowds have moved over to Toy Story Mania. But still, you need to work those fastpasses!

The PP pics are great. And I like that you can mail a coconut post card! How cool is that???

Thanks. It is pretty cool!

Can't wait to hear about your evening at DHS.

I think it's going to be a pretty big update.

I had no idea Poly had coconuts that you could mail to people. And I stayed there in April! Was it costly to send them? I'd assume it'd be more to send up to Canada.

Yeah, it was steep. I think it was around $40 for the two of them. They've already got postage on them and are ready to go as soon as you address them and write your message. I don't know what they'd have to do postage-wise to send them to Canada.

Remind me never to go to DHS with you... or else you'd be going solo on all those thrill rides! Great pictures in front of ToT. I like the pictures from your camera better. The flash is just too overpowering in the photopass pics.

Oh come on Jenbear...live a little! They're not going to let anything happen to you on those rides.

I thought I liked the pictures from my camera better too. I look especially sweaty and moist in the photopass ones.

Actually the picture looks great... if you want it to look a little brighter is just a matter to push the midtones up and Voilà! Creeeeeeepy :scared1:

Thanks for the tip -- I did it!

Tribilín;37695528 said:
Sounds a little odd  Hope it doesn't break the mood of the ride.

Great update glennbo123! :thumbsup2

No, it doesn't break the mood at all. I kind of liked the update, it's just that I was looking down.

Thanks Trib.

Loved the udate.

Great RRC picture. I've ridden it twice but both times it messed with my equillibrium so now I sit it out. But Tower of Terror is my favorite trill ride at Disney! I love to loose my stomach, too bad it finds me after I get off.

Thanks! Oh, that's a bummer that you can't ride RnRC. It's my favorite, but ToT is good too.

Another great picture on Sunset. We stopped for some there too. I really like your black and white photo, goes great with the theming.

Thanks again. I think the black and white would have been better if we weren't smiling. It would have been spookier or something.

I remember reading about the cocunuts on Tinks report. I would like to give that a try too in the future.

Yep, exactly. I knew you could get them, but she clued me in on exactly where to go.

I don't think I have ever found that rope at Indy, but I'm going to keep trying.

Looking forward to the Hoopla!

If you're going from Echo Lake towards Star Tours, just walk along the Indy side of the street rather than the right side with the buildings. You'll come right to it, just before you get to the Indy exit area.

:rotfl: I like how the Tiki looks like he's eyeing your coconuts and about to take one!

I didn't notice that until I posted the update! It is pretty cool.

Also: to answer your question on who would drink coffee when it's that hot? My Dad. He doesn't like heights, so he always skips out on ToT. My Mom and I ride, and he stands at the exit and gets a cup of coffee. It's almost a ritual now.

Even on a hot day like the one we had? Probably so, you can't deny a good ritual.

I'm glad you got to use two of your fastpasses. We LOVE Rock n Roller Coaster (of course we only rode it once, but my dh and I really enjoyed it. I am not a fan of ToT, :sad2: it's the heights :scared1: that do me in, but my dh really enjoyed that.
You got some really good shots there. Love the ride photo from the roller coaster.

2 fastpasses used, but the sun hadn't even set yet!

Have you tried ToT? Because the heights aren't that bad...you can't see down, just out over the park. My imagination of what it would be like was worse than what it turned out to be.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the coconuts. I'll have to make my way over to the poly to get one or more. My 5 yo would really get a kick out of them. He wanted to drink out of a coconut because of something he saw.

You should find out if they have some that aren't intended for mailing. That way you won't have to pay for postage (it's already on these), and they wouldn't have that white-painted area for the message and address to be written.

The army man picture with your daughter is so cute. She looks like so much fun, and that she was having fun too, with the rope out of Indy.

Can't wait to read about the hoopla.

I had no idea that she was looking to get a picture with an army man! We had a great afternoon.

"I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts, do-do-lee-do. Here they are planted in a row." - Zazu

I love the "do-do-lee-do" part!

Ah yes, you two would be my ninja-posters.

Great update Glenn! Love the coconut idea. I may have to borrow that. I'm hoping to be able to slow down and enjoy the details a little more next time.

I hope you get to go soon...you deserve it, and I'd love to read another GreatBiscuit TR!

Wow! I had no idea you could send a coconut from the Poly! How cool is that? You learn something new here on the Dis everyday, I guess. Do you remember what it cost?

I'd have to find my receipt, but I think it was around $40 for 2 of them. I know, expensive, but at least it includes postage...they're all ready to go.

Thumbs up on the 'best kept secret' picture. You're so silly!:lmao:

Silly?!

Yes I did ride ToT on our honeymoon :sad2: See I got to pick the destination (WDW) and with that he made me play a round of golf and go on ToT :rotfl2:

He practically dragged me on the ride :rolleyes1 And I feel bad for the kids on the ride, because oh man did I scream :scared1: and when it was over, I kept say "it's not over, it's not over..." Then we pulled into where we get out :rolleyes1:lmao::rotfl2: I laugh about it now, but I was pretty scared.

No Judy sightings!

I panicked for a moment thinking Liesa would have beat me already! Oh, but she had a rough day, didn't she? :sad2: I've had a stressful day with a certain little boy VERY much acting like an almost 3 year old. :headache::headache::headache:

I gotta go back and read. Looks like an awesome update!

They're very popular with the cool crowd. :cool2:
Where did you read that??? :confused3
Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.
I'll take your word for it.:rolleyes1
Who says that?!
Well, uh, I, uh, guess, uh, I said it.... :guilty:
Thanks! Oh, that's a bummer that you can't ride RnRC. It's my favorite, but ToT is good too.
RnRC and EE are my two faves. Not sure which I would pick if I was forced to only ride one of them!
I've had a stressful day with a certain little boy VERY much acting like an almost 3 year old. :headache::headache::headache:
Ah yes, those wonderful, exciting, terrible twos! :scared1:

Okay, so you did try it....well, you were a good sport about it! I guess you can avoid it now, since you've given it a try.

I've ridden it a number of times now and I'm still not 100% sure of when it's over until the doors open and the elevator attendant appears.

No Judy sightings!

You're two for two! I wondered where you were...I posted it at lunchtime!

I gotta go back and read. Looks like an awesome update!

Hopefully Henry's sleeping like an angel right now?

Where did you read that??? :confused3

It's common knowledge.

Well, uh, I, uh, guess, uh, I said it.... :guilty:

I had a feeling that was the case!

RnRC and EE are my two faves. Not sure which I would pick if I was forced to only ride one of them!

I like EE, but I know which I'd pick -- RnRC!

Ah yes, those wonderful, exciting, terrible twos! :scared1:

You break the news to her that the threes are worse than the twos. :rolleyes1

Somehow the reply you did to me about the camera settings didn't get added in here, and neither did your update...odd. :confused3

What a great afternoon at DHS! And count me in with the majority not realizing there were coconuts at the Poly. I had head about them at CBR, but not the Poly. Very cool. Now I'm trying to figure out who is the lucky one in my family to receive one of these next month! ;)

Great pic of Lauren with the Green Army Man! Every time I see those guys I think "they just don't get paid enough!" to walk in those boots and wear that mask.

Nice picture of the Hidden Mickey!

Where? :hyper:

What do you mean, didn't get added in here? The post wasn't showing?

It was! Ooo, some family member is going to get some interesting mail, and a mailman who's scratching his/her head trying to figure out how to put it through the mail slot.

Those guys are great!

Yeah Marv, where?

Addition to my post above - love that picture of the boilers! Totally weird and eerie looking! :thumbsup2

Oh nuts, I'm at work and can't look at the picture properties to see the settings. I think when I go into a dark ride I immediately changed the ISO to 800, sometimes even 1600 (but rarely), and just let everything else be handled automatically. For redneck photos of ride pictures, I found that setting the shutter speed to 1/60 worked best, so on or before the ride I'd make sure the "time" setting was set to 1/60 so that I could be ready when we got off the ride -- those pictures don't stay on the screen very long. For fireworks photos, I didn't take a tripod this year, so it was difficult. You want the shutter open for a long time, like 1 to 3 seconds with a tripod, but without one probably like 1/20 is the max as long as you have something to steady yourself. I forget what aperture setting I used for fireworks. (And I didn't get many this year :sad2:

We do ISO 1600 for the fireworks, open the aperture and let the camera pick the time. We never bring a tripod though. 1600 can get grainy, but for our use, it works - we pretty much only keep our pics on the computer for own personal use, then Facebook and the DIS. I'll have to try 800 for the dark rides...I would love to get some good ones there since I never really have been able to.

Thanks for the tip!!!

Great Update Glen !!! I LOVE:love: those coconut postcards !! How much do they cost also How do you mail them??????

It happened again I posted on your thread and it said "FATAL ERROR!! Or was it Dan's thread:rotfl2:I mean if I was replying to D Jay I could understand !!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Great update. Trying to catch up.

We went on The Great Movie Ride last year and went back this year because I couldn't remember what it was about until it started. I thought it was nice but agree that it isn't something that I need to do every trip. Think it is pretty much the same as the last time I saw it in the 90's.

This year I went back to the room almost every day after lunch because it was so hot so I can understand them wanting to go back. The sad part is that I live in FL.

Yes, Henry is now sleeping like an angel...thankfully! I'll spare you the details of the day, but it involved a Mommy Meltdown in Central Park. Not fun.

This evening Joe gave Henry a shower, and after it was like a brand new child. My happy, easy going boy was back! Just in time to go to bed. But at least Happy Boy goes down without protest!!!!

Even on a hot day like the one we had? Probably so, you can't deny a good ritual.

He does live in FL now. This picture was taken in Feb 2009, it was supposed to be 80 this day...
DisneyTrip09_152.jpg

Notice how I'm in a short sleeve dress, my Mom has a removable sweater...and my Dad has on a long sleeved polo & khakis... He has thin blood

I can't really tell a difference with the ones I've taken at 800 or 1600, but I haven't blown any of them up to large sizes. Still I try to keep it to 800.

Great Update Glen !!! I LOVE:love: those coconut postcards !! How much do they cost also How do you mail them??????

I was able to find the receipt...it was $39 and some cents for 2 coconuts, including the postage and tax and everything.

It happened again I posted on your thread and it said "FATAL ERROR!! Or was it Dan's thread:rotfl2:I mean if I was replying to D Jay I could understand !!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I don't think it's the thread. I'm just sayin'.

Just kidding, I've had that happen too. Just this afternoon, as a matter of fact.

Great update. Trying to catch up.

That's funny. I guess it didn't take too long to jog your memory?

This year I went back to the room almost every day after lunch because it was so hot so I can understand them wanting to go back. The sad part is that I live in FL.

No, for some reason that makes sense -- Judy's sister who lives in FL wouldn't go to the parks with us this year because it was too hot for her!

That just happened to me also as I was trying to reply.

See, it's going around.

Yes, Henry is now sleeping like an angel...thankfully! I'll spare you the details of the day, but it involved a Mommy Meltdown in Central Park. Not fun.

Mommy Meltdown in Central Park?! Oh boy. Just repeat, "every day in every way, I'm getting better and better". Okay, yeah, that doesn't work when you're dealing with a screaming kid.

Glad you got your Happy Boy back. You'll take it whenever you can get it, right?

He does live in FL now. This picture was taken in Feb 2009, it was supposed to be 80 this day...

And a dark shirt to soak up the sun, to boot. Okay, I believe you. Nice picture!

Great update, Glenn! Not a big fan of Rock & Roll (too old for that any more), but LOVE TOT. And now that you mention it, I think I've ALWAYS been in the front row of TOT as well. I love the coconut idea for the dads--a very unique gift.

I don't know about the coconut post. The picture kinda looks like a bra to me. Just sayin'......

Are you sure?:happytv:

To be honest, I am VERY sure...... Unless you and Cherie have a secret trip planned before 27 days from now.

I didn't think so. ;)

I'm hoping to be able to slow down and enjoy the details a little more next time.

A man after my own heart!
