The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

I actually like GMR. I love the movie clips at the beginning and end. But then again I'm a sap.

I liked it okay, I just don't need to ride it every trip...but I will next time I'm
sure because Judy hasn't been on it yet.

Sorry about the horrible bus service. We had a bad experience leaving DHS too. Ours was at night and in the freezing cold.

It would have to happen during extreme weather conditions!

You got some really great pictures of the ride. Mine always come out blurry. What camera do you have?

Thank you. It's a Canon Rebel XSi.

hey, glenn! i'm slowly getting caught up on TRs i'm either behind on or haven't started yet. yours is the latter, so here i go! just finished the first installment....you're there, you're there!!! :yay: the "randy" from survivor picture is great! :rotfl: hopefully nothing bad will happen with bell services and your luggage. looking forward to reading the rest! popcorn::

:yay: for finishing the first installment! Just a few more to go, and you'll be caught up. No, that's okay. You have a few things going on. The TR will be here when you have time. You can follow the links in the index, or go from chapter to chapter because I put a link at the end of each one. Feel free to comment even if you're on an old chapter -- it's still fun to hear what you think even if you're not on the current one.

Aww sorry you didnt like The Great Movie Ride that much. That is the first ride we do when we get to the Studios each time we go. You gotta love the bad acting and cheesy jokes. Indiana Jones is a must skip for us, we saw it once our first time at Disney and that was enough.
As always it was another great installment. :thumbsup2

Well, I wouldn't put it that strong. I liked it...but after seeing it, I don't think I'd need to go on it every trip. But, like I said in a reply to someone else, I'll probably go on it again next trip because Judy missed out on it. I think it's a good ride when it's hot out and you need to "sit a spell".

It Flashes !!!!:lmao::lmao:

Yes, when I have my camera get ready, you might just see a flash. :rotfl2:

Rosie is on fire tonight. :rotfl2:

Ay carumba!

You guys are all about strategy. :thumbsup2 You never know when split-second timing will separate victory from defeat in this high-stakes game!

Are you sure you didn't mean medium-rare steaks??

Gah!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loose. :guilty: We were out to dinner last night, then I went running, then worked on my own update. Stink!

Game on for the next update! ;)

I feel your pain. It's tough business maitaining a thread- comes with a price. :lmao:

Little-known rejected movie lines:
"We'll always have Poughkeepsie."

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I was going to post something almost as inane- I see you beat me to it.

I guess I left this as a cliffhanger when I didn't mean to...yes, they were able to get cooled off after they got back. The only issue was getting a bus.

I have no idea! And I always thought that they had buses that could fill in where they had shortfalls and unanticipated demand and stuff like that...where were those guys?

So they say but they never seem to show up when you said shortfalls actually happen. But you see 3 empty buses to somewhere else in a row.

I'm glad they got cooled off.

It Flashes !!!!:lmao::lmao:

Just like it's owner...:rotfl2::rotfl2:

When we go to DW at WS we have to go on Imagination. My kids always insist on it. I have to admit, it is a fun ride for me too.

Great report so far Glenn. I'm just going to sit back, relax, and keep on 'a readin'.:surfweb:

I grilled some tuna the other night and split-second timing does separate medium from rare. I lost....was too slow.

It does require a time-commitment, that's for sure.

For some reason I really liked that joke....good thing I write them mostly to humor myself.

I have the number for WDW Transportation in my cell phone in case we're stuck for a long while...do you want it? Well, of course you do. It's 407-939-7433.

I haven't been on that one in decades. Wasn't it closed a few years ago?

Great report so far Glenn. I'm just going to sit back, relax, and keep on 'a readin'.:surfweb:

Thanks...Enjoy!

Another happy convert. :thumbsup2

My work here is done. Oh wait, no it's not. I'm only on day 2 of 9!

Morning D Jay!!! For those of you who don't know this guys nickname is the Enabler !!!:lmao:Glen and him will make a fine pair !!!!:rotfl2:

Trying to get all caught up on everybody's threads after too long away.

Enjoyed all the TR updates. GMR and Indy are two shows I have enjoyed in the past, but have seen them way too many times over the years. I wish they would at least do some updates to both shows. When you know everything that's coming, they aren't too exciting anymore.

I still have to do them both every now and then just for the nostalgia.

Another fine update! We like the GMR, too, however it could use a revamp to make room for new movie classics that younger riders would understand. My child doesn't recognize any of the movies they represent in that ride, but he still enjoys it.

I haven't met D Jay in person yet, but I know we would get along just fine.

Welcome back. It's kind of funny that I did those two shows back to back. But it was good, I hadn't seen Indy in almost 10 years, and this was my first time on GMR.

Thank you. Yes, the younger kids won't recognize a whole lot on that ride. My daughter was familiar with The Wizard of Oz, Indiana Jones, and Mary Poppins. She had no clue about Alien, and has probably never seen a John Wayne movie, although she knows who he is.

It was about 2:30 and Judy, Marlene, and James were hot, tired, and ready to go back to the resort.
I'd just like to say that I'm astounded and beyond impressed that anyone makes it to 2:30 at that park in summer! :worship: No joke - I'm toast by 11am.

So, what did we think of it? It was nice…fine…good…okay. Not a must-do, but it fit the bill on a hot afternoon, and we enjoyed it.
Poor, sad GMR. We feel similarly - it's a good "filler" attraction, but it used to be positively GREAT. Sure wish they'd do something to liven it up.

I dunno. :confused3 If it has anything to do with this then I'm going to have to pass.

:rotfl::rotfl2::lmao: Oh, I hope it does!

Cool update, Glenn!;) I actually really enjoy GMR. In fact, pretty much any attraction that others feel is dated - I like. I'm nostalgic like that, I guess:confused3

Thanks to your links I am all caught up! :thumbsup2

You did take quite a few pictures during that stunt show. ;) It was really informative in the sense that I feel ok about never having seen it so far. It looks just mildly interesting to me - quite the same as I feel about the GMR. Which I find a bit boring...

I had not realized that you would do so much splitting up during this trip. But it seems to have worked for your family. :goodvibes

The Great Movie Ride - I haven't been on that in years! We didn't go to Hollywood Studios in april but going back in Nov/Dec so we'll hit that when we go. Love Indy

Lauren and I were just getting started! Being our first park day, we were still in commando-mode I guess.

It's probably time.

:rotfl::rotfl2::lmao: Oh, I hope it does!

The next chapter will not include motorcycles, but it will include a little transportation. That sounds exciting, doesn't it?

Oh, and Lauren's a little bit Country and I'm a little bit Rock and Roll. (If you understand that reference then you are in jeopardy of being called "old".)

That's a nice quality to have.

Maybe a few too many...people are saying they don't need to see it now that they've looked at my TR!

I had not realized that you would do so much splitting up during this trip. But it seems to have worked for your family. :goodvibes

I think it's a sign of the times. We're growing up.

Nov/Dec should be much cooler for you than our trip! Should be a good time to catch Indy.

Laughing so hard I'm going to wake Henry!!! :rotfl: Oh man! Too funny!

What kind of camera do you have?

Same as you, Canon XSi...tell me your settings! For fireworks/Spectro we turn the ISO up and open the aperture. We get pretty decent shots. I've seen WAY better obviously, but we like what we end up with. Perhaps the same for the dark/moving rides? I'm slow at switching between the settings, I have to check it 832 times to make sure it's right! I used to be so quick with a film SLR, and you'd think being a techno-geek I would feel confident with the DSLR, but I'm not. :sad2: (I'm really glad the point and shoot settings take awesome shots though! We keep it there most often)

It used to be great? How was it different? I would love for them to liven it up, it could be such a cool attraction!

For some reason I really liked that joke....good thing I write them mostly to humor myself.

And see, you get a bunch of us together who all do the same thing, and we end up entertaining each other- works fairly well.

:rolleyes1 That might be me....

I think it's a sign of the times. We're growing up.

But it's great that you still have family vacations even though Lauren must be getting into the age where a lot of kids would not enjoy family vacations...

Awww! Not as exciting as the little known 70's version of Lights! Motors! Action! featuring CHiPs, General Lee and the Osmonds! :happytv:

Laughing so hard I'm going to wake Henry!!! :rotfl: Oh man! Too funny!

Glad I could make you laugh! I cracked myself up with that one.

Oh nuts, I'm at work and can't look at the picture properties to see the settings. I think when I go into a dark ride I immediately changed the ISO to 800, sometimes even 1600 (but rarely), and just let everything else be handled automatically. For redneck photos of ride pictures, I found that setting the shutter speed to 1/60 worked best, so on or before the ride I'd make sure the "time" setting was set to 1/60 so that I could be ready when we got off the ride -- those pictures don't stay on the screen very long. For fireworks photos, I didn't take a tripod this year, so it was difficult. You want the shutter open for a long time, like 1 to 3 seconds with a tripod, but without one probably like 1/20 is the max as long as you have something to steady yourself. I forget what aperture setting I used for fireworks. (And I didn't get many this year :sad2:)

It used to be great? How was it different? I would love for them to liven it up, it could be such a cool attraction!

I wondered that too. I'm guess that the attraction itself hasn't changed, but we have a couple of decades of new movies since it opened.

And see, you get a bunch of us together who all do the same thing, and we end up entertaining each other- works fairly well.

Yep!

But it's great that you still have family vacations even though Lauren must be getting into the age where a lot of kids would not enjoy family vacations...

I don't want to get ahead of myself, but on the last night of the trip this topic comes up. Hmmm...

Awww! Not as exciting as the little known 70's version of Lights! Motors! Action! featuring CHiPs, General Lee and the Osmonds! :happytv:

Oh geez, I recognize all of those references...not good!

I hear they're going to do a CHiPs reunion. They're calling it "Paunch and Jon". (ba dum bum)
