The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

Liesa's not bringing Tate to the meet?

:scared1:

Very cool that Rob will be there! Did I miss his TR coming back to life?

No, she's afraid we'll be a bad influence on him.

I haven't seen it come back.

That just might be it!

I actually found Rob via FB, and tried it as a last resort. He answered, but has had a truly craptastic time of things - he lost his job, his computer crashed, "among other things" he says.

But he'd still like to come. Added to the fact that the DIS really torked him off... you can find that on his PTR. We should beg him to write again!

Anyway, if there is a popular demand for Tate I'll ask him to reconsider. He is kind of shy at times, but might enjoy the company of those "who get him/her".

I win this round- again there are NO Judy sightings. I thought MAYBE that's her reflection in the Queen dress picture, but it doesn't look like her figure.... I'm going with ZERO!

Wow! The list has really extended since I last checked in! Denise (praisehisname) is coming?! Must've missed that one! There's going to be quite a few fine folks coming along that I've spoken to on here. :thumbsup2

It's going to be a good time!

:rotfl2: Never fails. I am on here more when I'm at work than on my days off. :rolleyes1

We got a lot of yard work done, so I guess that's good.

Great pictures from the Great Movie Ride! They're actually not all blurry. I can never get decent pictures during that ride.

It's not easy. I deleted half of the ones I took while I was on the ride because they were blurry.

Nice update. Unfortunately after you've done The Great Movie Ride a couple of times, you realize how much it needs an update of some sort.

Yes, I imagine so.

Although we were in Disney for a Star Wars Weekend, we didn't go to one. I've never seen the movies (*gasp* I know) so it doesn't matter to us. But I think the park guests wandering around would have been really entertaining in their costumes! I'd never heard of "Hyperspace Hoopla" until now, so I googled it. Sounds like a fun time. I agree about the Great Movie Ride. It's not a must do, but nice if you have extra time. I rode it twice on our 2007 trip, and so wasn't heartbroken when I didn't get to it this trip. That is so wrong that there was only one bus driver for Coronado Springs that day. I'm glad Judy, James, and Marlene didn't have to wait *too* long for a bus, though 30 minutes in the heat is definitely no picnic! Loved the Indy Jones pun, too.

Oh you've gotta see the movies! They're great! Especially the original ones (now called episodes 4, 5, 6).

I'll have a chapter on Hyperspace Hoopla after the next one.

Yes, with only one driver, 30 minutes probably wasn't too bad.

That was about all we could last in that park as well. Even with a few cooling rides along the way the young kids just pooped out.

It makes for a long, hot, exhausting day.

I can't believe someone dressed as the emcees of Hyperspace Hoopla! :rotfl: Man those are dedicated fans!

Not dedicated -- committed, as in they need to be.

I love movie memorabilia and props so my enjoyment of the Great Movie Ride and Backstage Lot was probably higher than the rest of the family.

For some reason, fake stuff (ie. props) used once in a movie, can be very interesting.

"No, I'm not gonna hit ya. Like hell I'm not." Pow!

Oh yeah, that would have been a good quote to use!

Our hijacker was a cowboy from the old west town. I guess it can change from tour to tour?

Yes, I think there are 2 versions. Others will know much better than I do.

I always liked “Things are never so bad they can't be made worse.”

That's actually very true.

Ain't it always the truth! :rolleyes1 Our second attempt at DHS had the same thing happen. Madison and I rode Tower of Terror while everyone else headed back to the Poly. The bus ended up taking them to Wilderness Lodge! I ended up arriving only minutes after the rest of the family. :headache:

Yikes. I think bus transportation is probably the number 1 complaint people have about WDW. I think it's amazing how many people they move, you see buses everywhere, but it still needs to be improved.

I dunno. :confused3 If it has anything to do with this then I'm going to have to pass.

:lmao: No, I kind of gave up on trying to come up with a movie reference (or at least I thought I did). I knew there was a Marx brothers movie with Cocoanuts in the title, so I looked it up and saw that it was just "The Cocoanuts" and I didn't really like that.

Sorry to hear about the issues he's facing.

If Tate is too shy, we understand.

I win this round- again there are NO Judy sightings. I thought MAYBE that's her reflection in the Queen dress picture, but it doesn't look like her figure.... I'm going with ZERO!

You win! Nope, not her reflection...it was just Lauren and I on that ride.

Wow...dressing like the Hyperspace Hoopla people! I agree - that's dedication! Actually, dressing like anyone in that heat was a sign of dedication...or insanity, one or the other! :rotfl2:

Great Movie Ride is another that I don't think I've done since my first trip to (then) MGM Studios back in 1992. Yes, it does seem that it need updated, but definitely looks like a good chance to cool off!

Looking forward to Hyperspace Hoopla...especially since we wimped out!

Was a list of DC Meet published that I missed , musta been busy earning Dan points !!:rotfl2:

I vote for Mr Tate to join us in DC!! Maybe we can start a Preidential Campeign for him !!:lmao::lmao:

i think they need to redu the indiana jones show, we skip it now, because we have seen it so many times and seems kinda dated and boring...maybe they could redu it with the new indiana jones movie.

and im not too keen on the cooling ride, it is a nice retreat, but the ride almost puts me to sleep like ellens univers of energy

/
...but then I thought “Hey, the Great Movie Ride would be just the ticket right now”. It’s cool, you sit down, and we had never been on it before. Yep, this will be my first time.
:scared1: WHAT?!! Your first time in The Great Movie Ride??!! Unbelievable! Apart from the thrill rides in DHS, TGMR is my favorite attraction there, is so nostalgic! popcorn::

On the way, I saw a couple more mega-Star Wars fans.

For a moment I thought the girl was Sara Rue!!! :3dglasses WOW! http://www.imdb.com/media/rm506235136/nm0749081
But I think she's a lot thinner now... still very pretty ;)

...So, they had to wait for about a half an hour, and there were people already waiting when she had gotten to the bus stop. She learned from the driver that he was the only one assigned to Coronado Springs that afternoon. She was not very happy. They probably should have come with us on “The Great Cooling Ride”.
Since I began to plan my next trip with my mom, nephew and (possibly) my dad, I started to worry about the transportation system. I've assured my mom we could make afternoon breaks (first time for me LOL!) to go to the hotel and take a nap or just hang out at the pool. But I've heard horror stories about the waiting times for buses at the afternoon hours (I'm always at the bus station in the first hour of the morning and at the last possible hour of the night :rotfl:). I guess they are mostly random but how where the wait times for buses at the POR?

Wow...dressing like the Hyperspace Hoopla people! I agree - that's dedication! Actually, dressing like anyone in that heat was a sign of dedication...or insanity, one or the other! :rotfl2:

They certainly had more dedication than I did! I was only dedicated to shade, A/C, cool water, and the occasional meal. ;)

Great Movie Ride is another that I don't think I've done since my first trip to (then) MGM Studios back in 1992. Yes, it does seem that it need updated, but definitely looks like a good chance to cool off!

We went at a good time and enjoyed it.

Looking forward to Hyperspace Hoopla...especially since we wimped out!

Believe me, my crew was close to wimping out too.

Was a list of DC Meet published that I missed , musta been busy earning Dan points !!:rotfl2:

My "list" was just from memory...I think Lisa posted a more comprehensive list on her thread.

Yeah, I posted my guess, before I went back to read... I think.

You guys are all about strategy. :thumbsup2 You never know when split-second timing will separate victory from defeat in this high-stakes game!

i think they need to redu the indiana jones show, we skip it now, because we have seen it so many times and seems kinda dated and boring...maybe they could redu it with the new indiana jones movie.

I don't know -- did you see the last movie? But yeah, something to change it up a little would be good.

and im not too keen on the cooling ride, it is a nice retreat, but the ride almost puts me to sleep like ellens univers of energy

I'm sure that when I ride it for a second time, I'll have trouble staying awake.

Yes, I emphasized that for folks like you, who I knew would be shocked. We've been to WDW several times, but we're still tackling lots of "firsts".

The buses can definitely be hit or miss. One of my sisters went to WDW last month and they had a similar episode of a long wait. It was the only thing they didn't like about their trip. (Well, that's not completely true -- the others had to do with park guests.) Anyway, I digress. I can't really help with an assessment of POR. We didn't stay there this year, and last year it was only for 1 night. But I think the bus issues (or successes) affect all of the resorts pretty equally.

I see missed an entire montage of gas related banter. I'm saddened by that. But at least I got caught up on the TR. Excellent job as always. I wound up carrying the big lens every day, though not for an abundance of foresight, it was actually a result of cracking the mounts on the other lens about 20 min after arriving on property. I was saddened by that too. Haven’t seen Indy since 1990. Which is also a bit sad. Both that it’s been that long and that the show is that old. I’m glad you enjoyed the GMR. Nice job on all the photos. Until next time, “Here’s lookin’ at you kid.”

I like the Great Movie Ride........it's so nostalgic & screams OLD Hollywood to me. I read a blog on the DIS not that long ago about a Tables in Wonderland event they held in there & did different courses in different parts of the ride which I think would be sooooo cool. They got to see the sets up close & could notice alot of detail that is missed on the ride.

Hmmmmmmmmmm goin' coconuts? I love coconut.........now I am singing "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts" to myself. :cool1:

From the Tarzan movies I learned that if you need an elephant to do anything, all you have to say is “Oongawa”. For anything – bring me a tree trunk, untie Boy and I, …get off my foot. That could be pretty handy information, so file that one away people.

Excellent advice. Filed away.

What were the words from this famous Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman scene? Was it was “pork schops and apple schause”?

:lmao: Yes, I think that's it!

Jan! Jan! Jan!

Great pictures from GMR! Mine never seem to come out that nicely, I need to play with the speed/aperture on the camera more. I agree with you that's it's "fine" - nothing special to me, but it's alright. I would love for them to update it with newer movies, but I'm guessing a lot of people would NOT like that!

I win this round- again there are NO Judy sightings. I thought MAYBE that's her reflection in the Queen dress picture, but it doesn't look like her figure.... I'm going with ZERO!

Gah!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loose. :guilty: We were out to dinner last night, then I went running, then worked on my own update. Stink!

Game on for the next update! ;)

I can't believe they all went back to the room when you had so many fastpasses in your pocket.

Sounds like a nice cooling experience :lmao::thumbsup2

After having to wait so long for a bus, I bet they were kicking themselves for not having stayed for the ride. But sounds like they made it on a bus, or I am assuming things ahead of the story?

Can't wait to see if they do get back to room for some cool air and rest, if those fastpasses get used, and the hoopla fun.

UGH that just sounds hot. There is almost nothing worse than being overtired, over heated, possibly waiting too long to call it a day and then having it take forever to get back to your envisioned oasis. I hope they went straight to bed for a nap or the pool to cool down.

why in the world, on a Star Wars weekend, would they only have one bus to ANY resort?

:confused3

I remember the tork...though not really the specifics. VERY sorry things have been so craptastic, please pass on my prayers to him!

I figured that banter was equivalent to a Biscuit bird-call....if that couldn't coax you out, nothing could.

But at least I got caught up on the TR. Excellent job as always. Bummer about your lens. Thanks for the compliment on the photos.

Little-known rejected movie lines:
"We'll always have Poughkeepsie."

I know...I saw that Tables in Wonderland event advertised, and I had a TiW card! But, it was only for a couple of dates and they were before we were there. Kinda ticks me off that they have those things, but we can't take advantage of them.

Hmmmmmmmmmm goin' coconuts? I love coconut.........now I am singing "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts" to myself. :cool1:

I love coconut too. I could go for a Mounds bar right about now.

Excellent advice. Filed away.

I can't wait to hear the story someday, of how that knowledge saved your life.

:lmao: Yes, I think that's it!

Jan! Jan! Jan!

Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!

What kind of camera do you have?

Yes, I'm sure a lot of people would not like to see it changed.

Gah!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loose. :guilty: We were out to dinner last night, then I went running, then worked on my own update. Stink!

Game on for the next update! ;)

:sad2: If you let your guard down for just a minute, people are ready to pounce. I'm having fun just watching!

I can't believe they all went back to the room when you had so many fastpasses in your pocket.

I know! The wimps.

Sounds like a nice cooling experience :lmao::thumbsup2

It was a nice ride at the perfect time.

I won't leave you in suspense...they made it back to the resort without any issues, once a bus arrived.

UGH that just sounds hot. There is almost nothing worse than being overtired, over heated, possibly waiting too long to call it a day and then having it take forever to get back to your envisioned oasis. I hope they went straight to bed for a nap or the pool to cool down.

I guess I left this as a cliffhanger when I didn't mean to...yes, they were able to get cooled off after they got back. The only issue was getting a bus.

why in the world, on a Star Wars weekend, would they only have one bus to ANY resort?

:confused3

I have no idea! And I always thought that they had buses that could fill in where they had shortfalls and unanticipated demand and stuff like that...where were those guys?

I actually like GMR. I love the movie clips at the beginning and end. But then again I'm a sap.

Sorry about the horrible bus service. We had a bad experience leaving DHS too. Ours was at night and in the freezing cold.

You got some really great pictures of the ride. Mine always come out blurry. What camera do you have?

hey, glenn! i'm slowly getting caught up on TRs i'm either behind on or haven't started yet. yours is the latter, so here i go! just finished the first installment....you're there, you're there!!! :yay: the "randy" from survivor picture is great! :rotfl: hopefully nothing bad will happen with bell services and your luggage. looking forward to reading the rest! popcorn::

Aww sorry you didnt like The Great Movie Ride that much. That is the first ride we do when we get to the Studios each time we go. You gotta love the bad acting and cheesy jokes. Indiana Jones is a must skip for us, we saw it once our first time at Disney and that was enough.
As always it was another great installment. :thumbsup2
