The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

nope. I think we need a video of the meet

We might try, but you know how people tend to behave themselves when they know they're on camera.

What a great TR! I'm totally loving it and feel like I'm there! All subscribed up! Can't wait for your next post! popcorn::popcorn:: Fellow Pennsylvanian here!

Thanks, and :welcome: ajf1007! I'm glad my TR is making you feel like you're there. That's great to hear!

Don't even pretend to be shocked.

Day 2 - Part 5

We waved goodbye to the Streetmosphere people twenty minutes before 2 o’clock, so we must have arrived at the Indiana Jones show about 15 minutes before showtime. I’d think that that would be early enough, but the middle section was already filled, so we found some seats over toward the right side of the stage. They weren’t the best seats, but at least they’d be closer to the exits when the show ended.

It had been a long time since we’d seen this show – I think our trip in 2001 was the last time, because we went to Lights, Motors, Action the two previous trips, in 2005 and 2009. Not that you can’t see both on one visit, but they’re kind of similar, in my book. They’re both stunt shows that use the premise that a movie is being shot. One has fast cars and one has Indiana Jones. They both give you a chance to sit down, but otherwise take an hour chunk out of your assault on the park.

I got my camera out and kicked myself that I’d left the big zoom lens in the hotel room. Before we left that morning I looked at it and considered whether I should take it, but thought that I’d rather travel “light” and I couldn’t think of anything that I might encounter at DHS that I’d need it for. Dumb! After all, what did I buy it for? Well, at that moment I vowed to carry it to all of the parks from then on!

Soon the show started with Indy dropping from a rope tied to the rafters, and I started taking what seemed to be a million pictures. I apologize in advance that they’re not that good. That may be why I took so many, trying to get a non-blurry shot in the low light. I’ll try to cut it down to a manageable number.

IMG_2675.jpg

IMG_2677.jpg

IMG_2678.jpg

Uh oh Indy, the big skull behind you just turned red.

IMG_2679.jpg

IMG_2681.jpg

You know this is coming, but it’s always funny when the stage hands easily push this huge rock back up the hill.

IMG_2685.jpg

Then they picked some people out of the audience who would appear as “extras” later in the show, and they moved the backdrop out of the way to reveal a bazaar set behind it. If they did this back in 2001, I don’t remember it!

IMG_2687.jpg

It doesn't take long for Indiana and Marion to get into trouble in the marketplace.

IMG_2689.jpg

The woman flailing her feet here is the “Marion” character, who Indy will have to save once he takes care of all of these other bad guys. The people back by the marketplace of rugs and stuff, wearing blue robes that somehow look like rain ponchos, are the audience “extras”.

IMG_2690.jpg

The scene plays out so quickly that I never noticed that acrobat-quality see-saw that they’re about to use to project a guy up to where Indy is. But you can see it pretty well in this picture.

IMG_2691.jpg

Pow!

IMG_2692.jpg

Our heroes swing over to the other side. Hmmm, is that one of those inflatable landing pads I see? I wonder if anyone will be landing in it soon?

IMG_2693.jpg

IMG_2694.jpg

And more punches are thrown.

IMG_2695.jpg

Yep, just as I suspected.

IMG_2696.jpg

Marion seems to say, “hey, you haven’t fought over here yet!”

IMG_2697.jpg

Now I know why my ladder has a sign on it that says not to step on the top couple of rungs.

IMG_2699.jpg

Because you might end up getting hit on the head with a frying pan.

IMG_2702.jpg

And that will send you…

IMG_2703.jpg

sailing through the nearest awning…

IMG_2704.jpg

and hopefully a soft landing.

IMG_2705.jpg

For some reason Marion takes a zip-line into the awaiting arms of another bad guy. She’s nothing but trouble Indy!

IMG_2709.jpg

Oh no! Our hero is falling!

IMG_2713.jpg

But he’s all right, and able to save Marion.

IMG_2716.jpg

Uh oh, this guy dressed in black looks pretty tough. What are you going to do Indy?

IMG_2718.jpg

IMG_2720.jpg

That was my favorite part in the movie. There must be something sick about that.

Then a big truck explosion.

IMG_2725.jpg

IMG_2726.jpg

IMG_2727.jpg

IMG_2730.jpg

IMG_2732.jpg

Cut! The scene’s over. Nice job, everyone.

Then they brought out the guy who would fight Indiana Jones in the next scene, which would be a remake of the “fistfight under a slowly moving runaway airplane” scene from “Raiders of the Lost Ark”. He was HUGE! First, would one of the extras take him on?

IMG_2735.jpg

Look at him compared to the extras.

IMG_2736.jpg

Maybe Marion is more this extra guys’ size.

IMG_2737.jpg

Nope. She beats the living daylights out of him.

IMG_2738.jpg

IMG_2739.jpg

It turned out that he was a stuntman planted in the audience, and not a true volunteer. (I had thought so from the beginning, he was a little too “over the top” when he got selected.)

With that big guy standing on the mat like that, he really looks a lot taller than Marion and Indy.

Before we move on to pictures of the final scene, let me tell you that it was so hot in this theater. I thought that being shaded, it would have been a break from the heat, but no, it was still hot and super humid. I was having trouble watching the show because sunscreen was getting into my eyes from sweating. Gross, I know, but it was painful…like I had chopped a whole bushel of onions. And not Vidalia onions either, the cheap nasty ones. I tried rubbing my eyes with my shirt, but it didn’t help much.

All right, well let’s continue on. We're shooting the “fistfight under a slowly moving runaway airplane” scene, people. Action!

IMG_2757.jpg

Oh yeah, more bad guys are shooting at them while this is going on.

IMG_2758.jpg

But Marion accidentally takes care of them with the airplanes guns.

IMG_2759.jpg

Oooo, that’s gonna leave a mark.

IMG_2761.jpg

Somewhere around here is when the big bad guy met his demise with the propeller blade, but I missed it somehow?

Cut! Print! That’s a wrap, people.

Oh man, that just sounds AWFUL! And like RED onions. OW! Nothing would help that other than water/washing or eye drops. Which I plan to have in my park bag. Eye drops that is. Thanks for all the pics of the second half of the show, I missed it last year thanks to Eric's bladder and I have a feeling it may not make the cut this year as we have not seen LMA so that's a for sure deal.

I agree, kind of the same and it is a little bit of one or the other. That heat sounds just horrid though.

Hmmn...the great cooling ride. Sounds like a great touring strategy I need to copy! I find it interesting (ok, frustrating) that they don't offer LMA earlier in the day.

I'm not sure the *script* for that show documents the scenes as well as your TR installment. It's almost like I'll never need to see that show again. Since the show hasn't changed in (how many?) years, I'll just keep this link handy in case I need a refresher - no need to spend valuable park time and all. :rotfl:

And I loved the title too. I'm a movie girl, so I enjoy all the movie references you've included (yes, even the SW ones - geek!). :rolleyes1

Have a great weekend, Glenn. :thumbsup2

:lmao: You didn't disappoint! That was record time!

:cool2:

I win, I win!

I don't have sunscreen on right now, but something is in my eye - and it is crazy painful! I can relate RIGHT NOW, eye watering everywhere!!! Yet I sit here and read your update...

I have no idea what is going on with my eye -there is nothing in it, just checked. Maybe it's sympathy pain?

Anyway, great update! That is always a fun show! I think your Indy pictures came out nice - it's hard to take decent pics in there due to the light.

Great pics of the Indy show. We went two years ago for the first time since probably 2004 when we took oldest son and his "then" girlfriend for his high school trip. It is always SOOOOOOOOOOOO hot in that theater.

Brooke, whatever is bothering your eye is causing you to post twice. ;)

Love the Indy show :thumbsup2 - hate the LMA show :crazy2:. Oldest son has been an audience volunteer the last 3 years. Every time he has been selected to do the "evil laugh". This year in addition to that he was selected to do the "death scene".

Well, now I gotta add Indiana Jones to my long list of to-dos for our next trip. I enjoyed your photos very much!

Seems like I had a deja-vu moment while reading about the sunscreen in the eyes at the show. I read another report not long ago and she was having the same trouble at the same show!

We need a motivational poster:

INDIANA JONES STUNT SHOW
Hot enough to melt sunscreen

Glenn you got some great photos even without the lense. I enjoy Indy but only every other trip or so. We hit it this year too and it was just the right amount of time to have passed. If course if we have someone with us that has never seen it we do it.

I was feeling your pain with the sunscreen in your eyes.

Looking foward to cooling off.

It pretty much was. It didn't help my enjoyment of the show.

Nothing would help that other than water/washing or eye drops. Which I plan to have in my park bag. Eye drops that is.

You are so prepared! I hope your park bag doesn't turn into a MBOC. ;)

Thanks for all the pics of the second half of the show, I missed it last year thanks to Eric's bladder and I have a feeling it may not make the cut this year as we have not seen LMA so that's a for sure deal.

You're welcome.

I agree, kind of the same and it is a little bit of one or the other. That heat sounds just horrid though.

Unless you went on separate days, I don't think you'd want to do both.

Hmmn...the great cooling ride. Sounds like a great touring strategy I need to copy! I find it interesting (ok, frustrating) that they don't offer LMA earlier in the day.

Feel free.

That is kind of strange.

I'm not sure the *script* for that show documents the scenes as well as your TR installment. It's almost like I'll never need to see that show again. Since the show hasn't changed in (how many?) years, I'll just keep this link handy in case I need a refresher - no need to spend valuable park time and all. :rotfl:

I probably should have put a Spoiler Alert on this chapter, I had so many pictures. They'll be like, "this is just like that guys trip report, only with sound."

And I loved the title too. I'm a movie girl, so I enjoy all the movie references you've included (yes, even the SW ones - geek!). :rolleyes1

Thanks. You know, I'm not sure if "We meet again, Doctor Jones" was actually said in any of the Indiana Jones movies. A couple quotes of Belloq are close:

"Dr. Jones. Again we see there is nothing you can possess which I cannot take away."

"So once again, Jones, what was briefly yours is now mine."

But they're too wordy for what I needed, and didn't really fit. Maybe someone on here can confirm or deny my suspicion.

Have a great weekend, Glenn. :thumbsup2

Thanks, you too!

:cool2:

I win, I win!

Yep. Nicely done!

Quite often I feel like there's something in my eye, but can never find anything in it. Hope you feel better soon.

Anyway, great update! That is always a fun show! I think your Indy pictures came out nice - it's hard to take decent pics in there due to the light.

Thanks. It doesn't seem that dark, but the camera thinks so!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who thinks so!

It double posted me, with a Kathy in between.

Odd!

Brooke, whatever is bothering your eye is causing you to post twice. ;)

I saw it before you edited...I'm glad Kathy pointed it out because I was thinking, "didn't I just read that?"

Love the Indy show :thumbsup2 - hate the LMA show :crazy2:. Oldest son has been an audience volunteer the last 3 years. Every time he has been selected to do the "evil laugh". This year in addition to that he was selected to do the "death scene".

I like the LMA show all right, it's just that we've seen it the last couple of trips now.

Wow, your son must really know how to get their attention when they ask for volunteers! That's awesome. I had forgotten about that evil laugh part!

Well, now I gotta add Indiana Jones to my long list of to-dos for our next trip. I enjoyed your photos very much!

Oh thanks!

Really? I hadn't seen that, but I sure believe it!

:rotfl2: I'm not sure if it's motivational, but it is true!

 That's hilarious, I love that! I just love reading your trip reports, they always make me smile.

Thank you! It's great to hear that I put a smile on someone's face today!

They also make me really, really want to take my first trip to WDW after we are done our first trip to Disneyland! :)

You should...the place is amazing! Congrats on 60 days!

Glenn you got some great photos even without the lense. I enjoy Indy but only every other trip or so. We hit it this year too and it was just the right amount of time to have passed. If course if we have someone with us that has never seen it we do it.

Thanks. I just wonder what I could have done with that lens. For some things it may have been almost too close though.

Yeah, you don't have to do it that frequently. We had my sister-in-law and nephew with us last year and they had never seen LMA, so we did that one again.

I was feeling your pain with the sunscreen in your eyes.

Looking foward to cooling off.

Even reading a trip report you need a cooling break, right?

While I was reading the post about Glenn's eye burning from sunscreen my eyes started watering! When I read your post, tears were streaming down my face.:lmao: What is it with the power of suggestion here?

Good update. I think we missed this show on our last trip but it looks like something my boys would enjoy. I have so say I am so thinking about getting a nifty fifty lens before our trip next week. It would be perfect for some of those low-lighting shots.
