I spent 4 hours at the vmk computers in Innovations at
Disneyland park saturday. As a group we had trouble even getting into the rooms most would disconnect after 5 minutes of waiting. Lady Boedicea discovered if you keep the mouse moving and clicking while waiting to enter the room it kept you connected. Next we discovered the easy maze was so crowded or blocked that when you entered the tea cup you ended up in the blocked doorway of the second room. They need to put more space between the room dividers there. I was obvious everyone was stuck and could not move. We then all concentrated our efforts on the middle maze and about eight of the 14 of us managed to get into that maze and find our way thru many of the rooms. Including yours Kaironzet. Did have a little trouble in the Mansion room, center coffin area with moving. Finding just the right place to click does seem to slow up the line and cause bottlenecks. Unfortunelty nobody at disneyland vmk made it thru any of the mazes. Half failed because of disconnect and half with being sent to the blocked doorway after teleporting.
By the way all of the kids gave up on trying to get into the maze rooms. (short attention spans) Only the adults kept trying. The kids all went to play air lock, and with the mutual help were able to actually make it to the 15th level. If the VMK staff could only see how happy and excited thier faces were to win the diving suit prize! There was more than one adult who wanted the kids to play it again and win them a suit. The kids love it when mom and dad depend on them for support.
suggestions:
1.) A seperate start room for each of the three levels, put start in the name of the room and include it in the discription.
2.) put space after any teleporter that is crowded to give room for movement. You can simply open the end of the walkway so that the empty space in the room can be used to stand and ponder the users next move. This would also help in getting around slower users. A long term solution is needed, the software needs to allow people to pass thru each other.
3.) Test, test, test. give it a lot of testing before the major event. People love a surpise opening beta test. We went on space mountain several days before it officially opened, and you can bet everyone we knew wanted to know what it was like. VMK is just like disneyland. there are long lines, but I do not think disneyland waits for a ride to open before the worry about the safety issues. Every disconnect, every teleport to a blocked door, or stuck person is a injured ego. We all want to work with, and support VMK to make this the happiest place on the internet
