The Mechanics of the Split Stay

So it looks like we're going to be doing a split stay on our upcoming trip.

We already had planned a 5 night, 1BR LV stay at Bay Lake Towers in November. As I mentioned in another thread, my college roommate called and told me that he's getting married at WDW the day before we were scheduled to arrive.

The wedding party is staying over at AKL, and the wedding is over at Epcot at 9:00 AM. I guess part of the wedding package is Disney transportation will get a bus at AKL for the party to get to EPCOT on time.

To keep things simpler (and to save on points), we're going to add a couple of days at the front of our trip at Kidani and ride with the wedding party together.

So how do we split stay? Do we just bring our luggage to the bell desk on the morning of checkout at AKL and they'll ship it over to BLT for us?

If we're going to use Magical Express, can we have them drop us off at AKL (at the beginning of the trip) but then pick us up at BLT (CR) for the way home?

We were bummed on our last trip (at AKL) that we couldn't get a Savannah View, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we can get one once our 7 month window opens up.

Yes you can bring your luggage to bell services and let them know they will be sending them to BLT.

Let MS you need ME to drop you off at AKV and your ride home is from BLT - not a problem at all.

Good luck getting SV view for this trip, we stayed 1 night in SV view and would not consider staying there without the view! If it is not available make sure you WL it I think you should be fine! Have fun and let us know how you make out.

Bell services will pick your luggage up in your room- no need to schlep it down to their desk. Just let them know you are transferring to the next resort and don't expect your luggage to be there until after 3 and possibly even much later than that. You have to call bell services at your new resort once you are in your room and that's when they bring your luggage to you.

MS will set up ME for you and there is no problem with being dropped off at one resort and picked up at another. We have done that many times.

We just call Bell Services from the villa, telling them we want our luggage tagged for transfer, and they have come and picked it up. We have not hauled it to the Bell Services desk in the lobby. We usually transfer groceries too.

Thanks for all your tips everybody!

Thought we would never do a split stay but circumstances have dropped this one in our laps. I actually can't wait to get back to AKV. I really loved staying so close to the animals. Here's hoping a Savannah view is availalble!

We have done this a couple of time. It's absolutely no problem.

When you switch, leave with Bell services, tell them you want them sent to wherever you are going.
For magical express, what WE did ( and you might be able to do both up front ) is just book the arrival, then from our second hotel, we called Magical Express up to book for the departure. The latter does not need to be done before you arrive at WDW. just 24 hours before.
