The March 2014 Thread!!!!

Thinking about a Mardi Gras trip, haven't been at that time in years! Is it now a crazy packed time to go? Hot? Cold? Rainy?

Woohoo! Our first wdw trip March 15-23! POR kids DD 7 DS 5 DS 2 and me and the hubs! All three kids and hubby have their birthdays that week. Lots of cupcakes in our future.

Can someone explain Mardi Grah week?

Mardi Gras is a (formally) Catholic holiday, where you get to party before the fasting for the season of Lent begins about 40 days before (Jewish) Passover and the Christian Easter. Mardi Gras is mostly celebrated along the Gulf Coast, because of the heavy French population. Kids get out of school for several days because every one wants to attend the parties and parades. Because of this, it's a great time for families to take a vacation!

I could go into how the modern version originated (in the US) in Mobile, Alabama with a man named "Joe Cain" and how the phrase "Raising Cain" came to be& but I'll skip that for now!

Our first Disney trip was March 2012 and we had 2 birthdays (DH and oldest DS). Best experience ever!!!! Planning 2nd trip now for next March. Have fun planning!!

We will be at POR same time hoping for Stay/Play/Dine for general public (or a PIN would be nice).

We will need a car at least when we leave WDW (heading over to the coast for a couple of days). Right now I have one booked through Alamo to pick up at the Car Care Center near MK on our way out. It was a lot cheaper than booking something from MCO. If I happen to find a good deal before then I may change it though- since our trip is so short, I wouldn't mind having a car while we are there, just in case we feel like we want it.

Our first trip to WDW will be March 2 - 7! Staying at POR with my parents, DH, DD age 5 and DS age 4. So excited! I saw the calendar came out. Any thoughts on whether or not they will add more dates to MK electrical parade or what time the Pixar parade is when it says "dark?" I am completely overwhelmed trying to plan and only having the MSEP on Monday and Thursday is throwing a wrench in my original itinerary!

That is mardi gras week... so I'm thinking they will add some parade times. I hope so anyway.... Last year the schedule changed just before our trip and a few things were added. It's still early.... so we can hope!

Ummmm I read there were no parades. Pixar pals ended April this year and the MK one is gone from nov-mar. They are revamping it. Only the electrical parade is left it seems.....

The schedule is out and those parades are on it. The current 3:00 parade is ending in Dec and a new one is taking its place in March.

Yes the MSEP is still operating. Pixar Pals last date was April 2013
