The Many Uses of City Hall

Oh, and by the way, I must say to you, Wazowskilover, that in addition to the fact that you share my love of the GCH, which I appreciate, you also take great photos! I have looked at your pictures on other threads, and being a photo buff and budding photographer myself since I was about three years old, I really appreciate other people's picture-taking ability, too. I can tell that you really take pride in composing your photos and that you LOVE your subjects, which helps a lot in photography! There is a lot of joy that comes from your pictures -whether of people or of inanimate objects or landscapes! Keep it up! I want to see your pictures on the covers of magazines!

I have seen some other really great pictures on other threads too, but I have to figure out who is taking them so I can compliment them as well!

Thanks so much Sherry E !!! My mom bought me a Nikon D40 a couple of months ago and I can't wait to take pictures at DLR with it for the first time. You're so awesome for making me feel great !!! Thanks to you, I'm going to have a great day !!!

It is amazing, and it is all a diabolical plot to make the guests hungry and spend more money on food! Just like the peppermint that wafts out onto Main Street to lure us into the Candy Palace (that is what it's called, right?), the lemon and rosemary make us want to eat lunch (lemon chicken, specifically)!

They're geniuses because I DID get hungry. Goodness sake they're good !!! You know I read on a thread somewhere that they produce sugar water vapor and pump it onto main street in the morning to make people smell the ambience of sweets !!!

Back on topic - Don't forget that you can go to City Hall to get the ever so important Guest Comment cards! Fill them out to help the great CMs get the recognition they deserve! Those cards become part of their records, good or bad, and can help them get special kudos in the end.

I didn't know that ! I will definitely do that the next time I go because as always the CMs treated us supppper great at our last trip. They definitely deserved kudos !

That is my favorite thing about Tomorrowland !!!! I know thats silly to look at plants in tomorrowland and not the attractions, but I just love their use of vegetables and fruit to landscape. They're beautiful. Take a look :

I believe they're cabbage. I just thought they were SOO beautiful !! This was taken in January so I'm not sure if they're still there!

OT but I wonder if anyone tries to ever eat any of the stuff in tomorrowland?

I have to admit I was almost tempted to eat the one's pictured because they looked so fresh and I'm a bit compulsive :rotfl: . I usually have to convince myself not to do things that are weird haha.

Yes you can get this from City Hall.

You also used to be able to get a list of penny presses and their locations during the 50th celebration. I don't know if this is still available.

There are sooooo many things that can be done at City Hall. Here's just a few:
- Get a Guest Assistance Card if needed
- Look up the location of a personalized tile in the Esplanade
- Get park maps in languages other than English
- Make Priority Seating requests
- Rent an ipod specifically for Disneyland's ipod audio tour
- Braille guidebooks (i thought this was pretty cool!)

- Dreams

What exactly is the ipod audio tour? How much is rental?

I was wondering about this one too?

We went into City Hall to see if they had a phone book once. Not only did they look it up online, they made a print out for us.

Do they charge you to go on the Lilly Belle ? Because I know people who pay for a tour of Disneyland get to go on the Lilly Belle.

No, they don't charge you to go on the Lilly Belle. I have been on twice. Once on a VIP tour and in June my dd(11) went to City Hall to get a birthday button and requested to ride on the Lilly Belle for her birthday. They scheduled it with the conductor and gave us a special ticket for 7 people to ride (we had friends with us). We got to keep the special ticket for scrapbooking!

City Hall will have to check with the Train Station to make sure there is availability of a special conductor to ride with you the entire trip. Our guide in June was awesome and gave us so much DLR historical trivia. He was better than our VIP tour guide we had in April!

Actually, from the CMs I have talked to , they had a bit of an issue with this, especially when it was first planted. Remember that this is a "local park" with a very culturally/socially diverse population that attends.

They had people climbing the short fence and picking the oranges - same over at DCA, too. The gardening cast has to prune the trees carefully, to help avoid this issue.

OOO really ??? That would be amazing to see !!! Thanks for the info.

You can find out what characters will be out in the parks that day and where they will be located, and what time they are scheduled to appear.

Is it a list that is given out or do they just tell you verbally?
I would LOVE to know where the characters so we'll be the first ones to take pictures with them :cool1: :thumbsup2

I'm pretty sure you just ask what characters you are looking for and based on that they can tell you where and when they will be coming out.

In March our oldest DS (19) wanted to sleep in :confused3 instead of going to the parks with us that morning. So we left him at the hotel (in Garden Grove) told him how to ride ART and to call us on his cell phone when he got to DLR. Well, we didn't hear from him for quite some time - about 2 or 3 in the afternoon. I was starting to get a little worried about him.

Turns out his cell phone had died and he didn't have his charger - so he was wandering around DL for a couple of hours by himself looking for us!! :rotfl:

He finally went to City Hall and told them he had lost his parents and could they call us for him. They called my DH's cell phone and we were able to meet up with DS! It was sooo cool that they would be willing to call his parents (us) so we could get together. Even though he isn't a little kid! I love Disneyland!!!

What a great story! :thumbsup2

My DS is 17. In the modern ages of speed calling I am not sure he even knows our cell phone numbers! Guess I better brush him up and let him know he can go to city hall if ever he can't locate us.

that is grate. Im gona show my son city hall next time we go (well were going to go there any ways now) and im gona tell him if he gets lost to come here (here would have his little id necklace his grandma makes for him to. But i think it would be a good place for him to remeber to meet at or have them help.

Ive though about saying "find an adult" but not all adults are good. and any one can buy badges and stuff.

Both of you are right. The Bank is the Annual Passholder processing center, so all things having to do with APs are done there. APs requires that you have a photo on your pass.

You can purchase the upgraded difference at a ticket booth or Guest Services and they will give you a RECEIPT that you MUST take to the Bank. So, in the end you end up having to go to the bank to get your photo done anyway (which must be done before you leave the parks for the day), so you may as well just go there to begin with and do the whole process there.

Sorry, a slight tangent from the original topic again, but I have a question on upgrading a park hopper ticket to annual pass. Do you have to upgrade on first day of use, or before you fully use the park hopper?

TIA!

That is a good question. I have never upgraded to an AP from a regular Park Hopper but I have updraded from a single day/single park ticket to a Park Hopper. For an AP ugrade, it must work dfferently. I would guess that since you have to go INTO the park, and thus, use your first day on the Park Hopper to get in and get your photo taken and complete the upgrade to an AP, then that means they would probably want you to upgrade on Day 1, because if you wait until the last day, there is really not much value left to the Park Hopper to apply towards your AP, and in that case, you might as well just buy a brand new AP. I would err on the side of caution and just do it on the first day of use.

But the people on this board will know for sure what to do! I do not the concrete answer to give you - only my assumption! And I could be wrong.

You can upgrade at any time as long as your parkhopper is still valid. Actually, you really should wait until the last day to upgrade if the pass is 3 days or more so you can take advantage of the magic morning benefit. You will get the full value of your parkhopper no matter what day you upgrade, but you must do it on or before your last day. Once the parkhopper is completely used up, you cannot upgrade.

That is good info to know. Even though I was not the one who had the initial question, I had been thinking about doing an upgrade to AP at some point in the future so it is good to know how it works! Thanks!

I was hoping I could do this - you got me, I want to be able to use the MM benefits, but then upgrade to an AP as we will be visiting again next year :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
