We all know that City Hall is the best place to go with complaints or compliments, various questions, or for children to find their lost parents ;) . But what other uses have you learned of?

For example:

- City Hall has all the various celebration buttons, but you can also get a birthday phone call from someone special!
- City Hall is the place to ask if you would like to ride the Lilly Belle (for those who don't know, the Lilly Belle is the fancy train car named after Walt's wife, if you ask at City Hall, are willing to wait, the train is running and a CM is available to take you, you can get a special treat and ride in it).
- I read on here somewhere that City Hall has a list available of who every name in the windows on Main Street is can anyone confirm?

Can't you get a recipe for any food sold in DL?
Also I think you can get a list of hidden mickeys there too.
I think regular park hoppers turn into annual passes in there too.

Can anyone confirm Sys input? I would like to ask about the list of hidden mickeys but don't want to be looked at like I have two heads! :rotfl:

I thought of two more also;

- You can check how many times you have used your AP

- You can change foreign currency into US dollars or Disney dollars

Yes you can get this from City Hall.

You also used to be able to get a list of penny presses and their locations during the 50th celebration. I don't know if this is still available.

There are sooooo many things that can be done at City Hall. Here's just a few:
- Get a Guest Assistance Card if needed
- Look up the location of a personalized tile in the Esplanade
- Get park maps in languages other than English
- Make Priority Seating requests
- Rent an ipod specifically for Disneyland's ipod audio tour
- Braille guidebooks (i thought this was pretty cool!)

- Dreams

I have heard that you can go to City Hall if you are on a special diet (allergic to peanuts, for instance) to request help in having your meal at a Disney park restaurant made special for your dietary needs.

Someone said on another thread that you could get information on a particular type of plant if you wanted to know.

I don't think you can change your park hoppers to APs in there. You do that at Guest Services, which is located outside of Disneyland, to the left of the entrance turnstyles.

You can find out what characters will be out in the parks that day and where they will be located, and what time they are scheduled to appear.

Yes, this is true. I have gone in and requested the list.

Just this weekend we used it to transfer our Disney Visa Rewards dollars onto a card to spend :). How kind of them to assist us in spending money in their park ;)

Do they charge you to go on the Lilly Belle ? Because I know people who pay for a tour of Disneyland get to go on the Lilly Belle.

Actually you can't change your park hoppers at City Hall OR Guest Services outside the park. Guest Services has information about doing it, but upgrading them actually has to be done at the Bank on Main Street.

You get a "birthday call" from Goofy on their phone at the front desk.

You can also get medicine if you have a headache or other problems.

You can arrange meeting plans in case you lose you group and need a location to reunite.

As far as I know, City Hall does NOT give a list to Hidden Mickeys at all because they want you to find them on your own, AND they also sell the Hidden Mickey Disneyland book on Main Street. I could be wrong. They would never reveal ALL the Hidden Mickeys anyway, because the fun of it is findig the ones that no one knows about - the "unconfirmed" ones.

BUT City Hall indeed does give out a list of all the pressed penny machines in the parks, hotels and Downtown Disney. And it tells you which three pennies you can get at each machine which is very helpful! And it changes often because they put up new ones for holidays and special events. (Once upon a time penny albums were sold in the parks to hold the collections. but I am not sure if I saw any of these albums the last time I was there.)

As for plants, I would not be surprised if they give out a list of the different types of them in the parks because I know that all of the plants and trees in and around Tomorrowland are edible (either fruit or vegetable-based), so chances are, they probably have a list that outlines exactly what each plant is - at least in Tomorrowland!

That is my favorite thing about Tomorrowland !!!! I know thats silly to look at plants in tomorrowland and not the attractions, but I just love their use of vegetables and fruit to landscape. They're beautiful. Take a look :

I believe they're cabbage. I just thought they were SOO beautiful !! This was taken in January so I'm not sure if they're still there!

You can upgrade your Park Hoppers from one-day to two-day hoppers, or two-day to five-day, etc., outside the entrance to Disneyland, at the ticket booths. I have done that. But you're saying that it is only the upgrade to an AP that has to be done IN the park, at the bank?

I don't think it's silly at all - and I remember those plants! Once I learned that little bit of trivia about Tomorrowland, I was staring at every green thing around that land when we were last there, trying to identify them! It is one of those things that, if you don't know it is there, you pay no attention, but once you DO know it is there, it is one of those special details that makes Disneyland so great. They have so many little hidden treasures around the parks AND hotels, etc. that it keeps you interested even when the lines for rides are hideous. My friend and I must have looked like freaks, going up to what I think was a lemon tree and staring at the leaves, then practically burying our heads in another potted plant arrangement, trying to figure out what it was!

Haha !! My mother and I were doing that in January. I love it !!! I agree it is the little things that make Disneyland so great. It really adds to the whole experience. When I was sitting by the arcade waiting for my cousins to get out I noticed the lemon trees and the rosemary bushes below them. The combination of lemons of rosemary smelled so fresh and wonderful. It was amazing !

Oh, and by the way, I must say to you, Wazowskilover, that in addition to the fact that you share my love of the GCH, which I appreciate, you also take great photos! I have looked at your pictures on other threads, and being a photo buff and budding photographer myself since I was about three years old, I really appreciate other people's picture-taking ability, too. I can tell that you really take pride in composing your photos and that you LOVE your subjects, which helps a lot in photography! There is a lot of joy that comes from your pictures -whether of people or of inanimate objects or landscapes! Keep it up! I want to see your pictures on the covers of magazines!

I have seen some other really great pictures on other threads too, but I have to figure out who is taking them so I can compliment them as well!

It is amazing, and it is all a diabolical plot to make the guests hungry and spend more money on food! Just like the peppermint that wafts out onto Main Street to lure us into the Candy Palace (that is what it's called, right?), the lemon and rosemary make us want to eat lunch (lemon chicken, specifically)!

Yes, sorry I meant upgrading to from a park hopper to an AP can only be done at the bank. I guess I was typing to fast and left the AP part out.

That is good to know for future reference, though. I think a lot of people would assume that you can just go into any shop or any hotel on the Disney property and upgrade to APs, so it helps to know that it cannot be done everywhere! Thanks!

Both of you are right. The Bank is the Annual Passholder processing center, so all things having to do with APs are done there. APs requires that you have a photo on your pass.

You can purchase the upgraded difference at a ticket booth or Guest Services and they will give you a RECEIPT that you MUST take to the Bank. So, in the end you end up having to go to the bank to get your photo done anyway (which must be done before you leave the parks for the day), so you may as well just go there to begin with and do the whole process there.

Back on topic - Don't forget that you can go to City Hall to get the ever so important Guest Comment cards! Fill them out to help the great CMs get the recognition they deserve! Those cards become part of their records, good or bad, and can help them get special kudos in the end.

Nancy
