In Disney from 7/12-8/6 updating daily
Warning: I add in every detail, I never leave anything out! We are so excited to hit the parks and have a little Disney Magic back into our lives!
Day 1 - July 23rd
Let's start at 1:30 a.m., when we were just starting the nitty gritty of packing for our two week vacation.
Now let's flash to 4:30 a.m... Waking up to go to the airport.
Regardless of the time we woke up, this was the smoothest airport trip ever. We arrived at Newark International at around 5:45 a.m., waited in line for employees to arrive, checked our bags, ate breakfast, and were thru sercurity at at 7:25 for our 7:30 boarding. There was no rush and no stress for ONCE. Haha. Now, I hate flying and this was also a great JetBlue flight. Smooth, Quick, and we had TV's, drinks, snacks, and pillows to make it go a little quicker. We landed around 10 a.m. got our bags, and rented our car..
BTW, Orlando International redid their rental car garage, and it's much more organized and nicer.. Alamo, National and Enterprise are now one company and on the bottom level rather than the top. We rented a KIA SOUL (the hamsters are driving this in a commerical haha) which was a midsize and it was very nice. Lots of room and of course, brand new! We figured out the easier, and cheapest way to get to the WDW area which is 528 west to 1-4 west. Two tolls a dollar each. One thing we always get frustrated about is how there are always so many tolls, so this was a nice change.
For some reason, it isn't that hot here, as it is in NJ. I mean don't get me wrong it's still HOT, but definetly more comfortable than back home. We checked into our hotel at around 11:00 at Orange Lake Country Club (which we own thru RCI, and it is located behind AK, you can see it from EE and Summit Plummet xD) and went to their new resturant, called Breezes. It has a Key West, island theme and it was very great. Amazing food, atomesphere, and service. I had a teriakaky pineapple burger, and it may have been on of the best burgers i've had in my LIFE. If you want good dining off property go here We then did our food shopping at the Publix, and when we walked outside it was very wet, then as soon as we closed the doors to the fully packed car it started DOWN POURING. (Welcome to Florida, huh?) By he time we were settled into our room it was 3 p.m. (The rooms are completley renovated and are gorgeous!) and unfortunately, the weather was pretty bad. I decided to look up the weather and it seems to be rainy all week but we will make the most of it :/. However, we were very tried from a long day. We then went to the other resturant here called River Island Grilling Company, which is located at River Island. (Which is gorgeous may I add...). We usually love this resturant but this time it was dissapointing. Holiday Inn has completley taken over the resort, and they said they improved their Customer Service (which they did, so if you had a bad experince at OLCC try it again!). Basically, they gave no bread with the meal (whats muscles without bread?) our favorite appetizer (jamician jerk chicken) was different, and not worth coming back to, and for the first time we tried alligator bites and there was only a few (delicious) pieces..for 11 dollars. Now already having a not-so-great time at a resturant it only got worse. Both my Ceader Plank Salmon (which i get everytime and love) and my Dads Briskett were SO SALTY it was unediable. Being me, I hate complaining so I just tried to eat as much as I could.. However for the first time in his life my dad sent his back to the kitchen while I just said mine was way to salty but kept it. Now our waiter (who we've had before and knows us becuase we go so much) offered us both free dessert or another entree. We just said, why don't you take the price of a dessert ($5) off the bill. He said he would talk to his manager, then he comes back with the bill and turns out he took both my dads and my entree completley off the bill! :O Even after such a dissapointing meal and even thinking "we aren't coming back here" that great customer service made us rethink and say "maybe next time will be better!" Isn't it amazing how the littlest things make a bad experince into a good one? After ending on a good note, we headed back to the room and were sleeping like rocks as soon as our head hit the pillow. Day 1 was pretty great!
Day 2, July 24th
(Currently going on..)
Today we are going to just relax around the resort and then going to Boma at AKL for dinner! This is our favorite resturant on WDW property and we can't wait xD haha. Now, I have a question that I think the Disboards would know.. Do they serve ribs on saturdays at Bomas? I'm asking this because my dad absolutley loves the ribs here and he says it's the best food he's ever had!
