Has anyone been to the new The Mall at Millenia?

I was wondering if you could advise on best shops, any bargins, or places to eat there?

Your help is appreciated

Thanks

we went a couple of years ago, found it quiet expensive to be honest

maybe its changed though now

Oh yes. ::yes::

I daren't add up how much we spent there, but it was definitely >$1000. Dockers are a bargain in Macy's and the Jimmy Choo shop (speak to Taka) is cheaper than the same shoes in the UK -- even though it's a British company! Apple store is cheaper than the UK, as is the Tiffany's store. But the Louis Vuitton and Chanel stores aren't.

Many dining options are available, though personally we preferred the California Pizza Kitchen which is excellent.

Just a short drive from Festival Bay, which is another good mall. And just over the road from Super Target.

Have to agree - this is a HIGH quality Mall, not a place for discounts, per se.

Take a look at their website to review the names - Macy's, Tiffany, many fashion names, etc. Enjoyed the visit when happened to be in the area, but would only go if one of the specific shops appealed. ::MickeyMo

When we were there a couple of years ago, we had already been spending in Macy's when one of the assistants told us to get the 11% discount card for tourists. I went upstairs and got the card and was then given the discount on all the stuff we'd already bought. What was already cheap became almost embarrassingly cheap.

Hopefully we can do the same next week!

brigadoon, can you let me know when you get back whether the tourist discount card is still available..Thanks!! :bounce:

I believe Burdine's in Florida Mall did the same, but we didn't find that out until after we'd spent loads and got home.

Does anybody know of other similar discount cards?

The Macy's discount card is a permanent thing. Was quite pleased to get the discount after spending ~$110 on Dockers. Went back on the last day to get another pair (so total of aorund $130-$140) only to find they had a "free iPod shuffle when you spend $150 on Dockers" offer. Oh well.

Burdines and Macy's are the same company.

We've been to Mall of Millenia twice - found it very snooty but it was fun to look round. And I loved going into Bloomingdales! As for places to eat, I heartily recommend the Cheesecake Factory - not only is their cheesecake to die for, their meals are divine too. One word of warning - don't eat for awhile before hand, their portions are HUGE :earseek:

Have been before and some things are just a little bit on the expensive side!
It is a very cool building though!!! The food is good there but i much prefer the Florida Mall because it's more likely you will find a bargin :cool1:

...and with the exchange rate going in the direction it is at the moment, by the time I get there next year there will be very few bargains. :sad2:

We go to this Mall for Macys, Baby Gap and Bloomingdales. Macys always offer the 11% off card and Bloomingdales do sometimes I think, you need to go to customer services to get the card, it is for international visitors.

The food court here is very nice too.

We never miss this mall but we visit the outlets first to get bargains and look here for anything we could not find at the outlets. It is beautiful and well worth a visit (knocks spots off Lakeside or even Bluewater :rotfl: ) We have got great bargains during sale times at Macys and Bloomingdales (mainly designer childrens clothes and Clinique products) but the other shops are pricey.

We went there a couple of years ago and it's very nice. To me it looks a bit like the Trafford Centre in Manchester. Some of the shops are upmarket (Louis Vuitton, Jimmy Choo, Tiffany) but Gap is there and Macys and Bloomingdales aren't too expensive. I got a Nine West bag in Macys which usually costs about £60 over here but I got it for about £30 because of the exchange rate and the discount card. To be honest, I think it seems really expensive because everywhere else is so cheap.

It is a very nice mall to have a walk around.
As far as shopping is concerned the Bloomingdales and Macys stores are probably the best department stores in Orlando.

Can also recommend the Quiksilver surf store and the Tommy Bahama store too, for my mandatory silk shirts. :)

Several of the stores are very exclusive and expensive, proabably best avoid the majority as the sales staff always look set to pounce.

The food court is very good.

Overall well worth a visit but not necessarily for the bargain hunters.

Have to say its become something of a 'must do' for us evry time we go. Yes it is expensive in comparison with many other places but it is nice to just chill out and stroll around.

I think the food court is one of the best I've been to (bourbon chicken, mmmmmmm.....). Ideal place to stop off on the way back to MCO to 'get rid' of those last few $'s!!!

Went when we were there in 2003 and loved it, got some great bargins in Bloomingdales! It's a must when we go back in November!!

With the Macy's discount card do you need anything to prove your a tourist, and not just putting a British accent on! :teeth:

Thanks

I was very impressed by this Mall being a hardened shopper. Saved over £100 on my jeans from Neiman Marcus and £150 on my watch.
With the exchange rate coming down probably won't buy so much on our visit in Oct unless it picks up a bit.
My recommendation though is the CHEESECAKE Factory in the Mall. Great menu and of course great puds. Also did Bass which was great as could bribe my DH with a few hours shopping with a few proper beers for him after.
Great Mal just to look around and I will be visiting again.

my favourite shops were l'occitaine and bath and body works-fantastic bargains to be had in both. All those bottles weren,t so great on the luggage allowance though! :goodvibes

Another vote for the Cheesecake Factory. The food was tremendous and the choice of Cheescakes was staggering - took ages to decide but they were worth the wait. :cheer2:
