My Stila smudgepots came in the mail yesterday. (gosh, I LOVE packages!!). I tried the bronze as soon as I opened it. VERY creamy and really did stay on even through my tears, LOL. However, I do need practice with the brushes and the amount to put on the brushes. I kept getting little clumps as I was trying to apply on my lower lid... But I REALLy think I'm going to love this product once I get the hang of it! Thanks so much for recommending this eye liner!!!

Keep your eyes open(pun intended) for the bogo brush sale at Ulta. The have a very thin angled brush that works well with the SPs. I got two for 14 and after trying a bunch of brushes I found that one works the best. If you have deep set eyes which you do judging from your photo(not small) you just want to get it on your lash line. Do not make a thick line it will make your eyes receed even more. That set will last you a good year. I find I use the bronze more than any other color. You have dark hair as I do but sometimes the black looks too harsh. Once this stuff dries it is hard to get off which is good in one respect but if you mess it up when putting it on then you have a problem. Stick with the lash line and check out youtube gossmakeupartist video for deep set or hooded eyes. It will help.

Thanks for the tips, Bella!

Off to search for gossmakeupartist on youtube now!

I just love playing around with make-up. It's like being a little girl again. :)

ETA: I'm finding a lot of his videos, but nothing specific for recessed eyes or smudgepot applications... Am I missing something?

WARNING: Once you start on YOUTUBE and look at all the makeup tutorials you will be hooked. When I first started going on I was home from school with a torn collateral ligament in my knee. I was on You Tube for 4 days straight. Keep in mind, I had to be on bed rest but I do not know what I would have done if I did not have all that free time. Once you go to one topic they have a million other channels that have the same topic and you just get hooked.

I have a question...I am sure with all the knowledge on here I can be helped...

I have some MAC gluidline gel eyeliner...It runs on the bottom and on leaves a mark on my upper lid...How do I prevent this?

Also, even my pencil eyeliners run on the bottom. How do I prevent this???

Thanks!!

Do you use a makeup base like monostat? Also are you using the MAC fluidline? I have fluid line in gold and honestly I have no idea why I got it but I rarely use it but when I do it does not run.

Now how's that for a question for a newbie? :) She probably hightailed it off this thread so fast! LOL! :lmao:

Just to clarify, it's not the Monistat for yeast infections that's we're all rubbing on our faces... It's the chafing powder lotion. Can't remember the exact name, and I'm too lazy to run upstairs to look at mine.

It has the same main ingredient most expensive face primers have, but at a fraction of the cost.

I have this problem as well because my dry eye causes excess blinking. What I've done now is always use a primer or base before applying shadows or pencils. Just pat it on the lid and then run a small strip under the lower lashline with a concealer or eyeliner brush.

Apparently Two Faced Shadow Insurance is a favorite (as is the Monistat as mentioned). I intend to try that one soon. Right now I use a neutral (pretty much my skin tone) cream shadow as a base and I don't have too much running - just a bit here and there.

I use the Two Faced but I found that I had to use finishing powder to seal it before I put on shadow because it seems to keep the shadow from going on smoothly. The monostat turns to a powder so you do not need to use finishing powder with that one.

Yes, I am using the fluidline. (gluidline)That should have been fluidline.

ROFL!!! I have skimmed through the thread enough to know about the monistat. :) I will have to purchase some. I am so tierd of my liner running. It does not matter if it is mac, the cheap stuff, pencils, liquid, fluidline. I love my liner and need to fix my running issue. :yay:

Any help is appreciated!!

I've been using the Fluidline for a while now and absolutely love it. I have one of the brown colors (Dipdown), the blue/purple color (Waveline) and the Teal color that was discontinued. I don't have a problem with any kind of "running" unless I put to much. Try putting a small layer on at a time and let it dry in between. I do just a little dab on the corner edge of my liner brush and do small sections at a time. If I do to large of a section or get it on to thick I find it doesn't really dry like it should and will get a little bit of running with it. I have not had a problem with it flaking off when I do it this way either.

I have naturally wavy hair but it is cut in a short straight stacked in back longer around my face kind of cut (I use a round brush and flat iron to straighten) ...we leave for Disney in 14 days:cool1::cool1:Normally I just wear it up but that wont be an option with the cut I have this year. I know it will be hot, humid and raining some too?? I'm wondering if anyone has any good suggestions for keeping your hair from curling up with all that humidity, etc. I would like to look decent in some photos!!!! My hair dresser recommended Moroccan oil that you apply when your hair is still wet and it's supposed to help dry faster and keep moisture locked out....anyone try this or have any suggestions for me. I wanted some input before I purchased her product at 15.00 for a tiny bottle....Oh yeah, my hair is very fine so I have to be care about weighting it down, too.....Thanks

I LOVE MO.It is MUCH cheaper on www.cosmeticmagic.com. It will help and if you check out the website you might find some other products that deal with curly hair from MO. I must say I have the no frzz that Sephora is featuring now and I do not like it as much as MO. I also use the MO shaping cream when I dry my hair. I have used cosmeticmagic several times and they have been reliable and will ship free over 40.00. IN addtion, if you get the order in before 3 usually you get it in two days. Check it out.

Are you sure it won't weigh your hair down? That is my main fear of MO or Potion #9 that CR recommends. It seems like anything that deep conditions my hair makes a limp mess.

It does not weigh my hair down and while my hair is not curly it does tend to frizz and will curl to some extent in the heat. I must say I have NEVER found anything that worked in the heat at Disney in August. WEll it is not so much the heat it is the frequent rain and then heat and humidity. I have not heard of potion #9 I must have missed that post. Okay here is a suggestion...don't laugh. Try the smaller bottle of MO then if you hve a dishwasher or a very steamy shower stand over the steam that comes off the dishwasher or in the bathroom and you might find if it works.

Who makes potion # 9?

CR what is potion #9 who makes it. I have not tried it. I am not buying any make up for two weeks but this is not make up ....it is for my hair.

The drops are a little different because this stuff adds gloss to your manicure just like a clear top coat would. I have used the drops before. They do are good till the end of the bottle, the top coats I prefer are the gloss ones but they dri out too soon and I never get past half way in the bottle. The good thing about the ULTA is that they are only 2,00 so even if it dries out half waythrough it will not be as much money. BTW I do not like Sally Hansen fast dri topcoat. It discolors any nail polish except Sally Hansen when you use it. I wrote to the company and they said it was formulated to work with their nail polish which I do not like.

I bought some drying drops at Sally Beauty Supply and they are awesome. I couldn't believe how fast my nails dried when I used them. I did a bottom coat, two coats of color and a top coat and they were pretty much perfectly dry in 15 minutes and not just service dry, but dry the whole way through. Well worth the $5 I spent on it.

Well so far so good with the x dri from Ulta. I have natural nails and put two coats of OPI nail envy, two coats of color and one coat of drier when I start and then a coat everyday with a coat of some sort of top dri. I have used the Ulta twice so far and it is just as good as the China Glaze, or OPI I had been using at 5 times the price. It is on sale this week for 2.00....that is practically FREE in my world! If you can get a bottle this week while it is 2.00 it is usually 6 a bottle. Supposedly there are only 5 companies that manufacture nail polish for all the cosmetic companies. I do not know if this is true but a friend gave me a bottle of Beauty Cafe polish that cost 18 a bottle and it is no different than the OPI>

That's funny because I got some quick dry stuff too. It was an impulse purchase, I hope it works because I didn't see any reviews on MUA. It's a spray, envi, Salon Professional Nail Enamel Dryer. I hate waiting for my nails to dry. I hope it's not some gimmicky do-nothing spray. I'm going to try it tonight.

I know I thought the buy one get one was a great price. Just be careful, the quads are made in China but the singles are made in USA. I still bet they are made by Mac or possibly Stila. I tried to look it up on line but could not figure out how to find out the information. I did not get the blush BUT I did get the quik dri nail polish drier and it is really good. Worked just like the OPI and at 2 dollars a bottle it is a steal.

Ok, I'm so confused. I want to buy some sort of quick drying spray or drops for my nail polish and I just don't know what to buy or where to get it.

I have a solar speed spray that smells like Almonds that my manicurist uses but it doesn't really help.

I almost bought the OPI drying drops for $12.50 but I didn't want to waste $12 if it doesn't work. Maybe they have something similar at the Sally Beauty Supply store??

Any recommendations or reviews on what works? Where can I get it?

Thanks!

I was an OPI(ate) addict until I stumbled upon the Ulta x dri. It was on sale for only 2.00 for two weeks but now it is back to 6.00 a bottle. I quick dry drops but I did not like them as much as the clear polish quick dri. It gives a shiny coat while the drops IMHO are more greasy. OPI is good but you can get two uLTAs for the same price and if they are on sale you can get 6 ! I have been using both the ULTA x dri and polish for almost 3 weeks now and I still have NO complaints and see no differnce from OPI. I have also used Beauty Cafe for 18 a bottle and here too I am not seeing a differnce. Infact I could use one coat of the ULTA but I don't I use two to manicure adn then each night I add a coat and a coat of quick dri. takes five minutes snd keeps my polish for 6 to 8 days depending if I use harsh cleaners and really bat my hands around. Normal wear I would say averages 7 days.
