When we were in a stroke ward, I swear, the word of the day had to be G—D---(for the censors). Could be used to describe anything they couldn’t get out.

Grammy that is too funny, that is still what my Dad says if he gets stuck. That and the S word. Amazing how much can be expressed by those words, isn't it.

So glad you are feeling better today, and that you had a good cry. Good crys keep you sane.

I have had a very scary afternoon. I got a call at my office at 4pm from my baby (she's 18). She was in a car accident. Crying hysterically. I could barely understand her. Thank God she was not injured, but her car is a disaster. Unfortunately, she rear-ended a car that was stopped in the road. The other driver did not have her break lights or turn signal on, and with the way the sun was setting my daughter couldn't tell the other driver was stationary until it was too late. Also, unfortunately, the other driver was making some back pain noises. Hopefully it is nothing serious for her, and as a result for us. She did drive herself off though, so I'm going to take that as a good sign. Anyway, I could use a Dis hug.

Thanks for listening.

Oh dear, that is such a scare! My oldest totalled a car when he was 18. I have several gray hairs from that phone call. I also have never since wondered if the cell phone was an extravagance, I am so thankful he had one that day... and that he called me. I would have been afraid to call my mom.

:grouphug:

Don't even think twice about that other driver, that is why we have insurance, so they can handle that junk for us.

It took me forever to figure this out.

You plug your Ipod into your pc, then you go to your library and click on the song(s) you want to put on your Ipod. If you are moving more than one song at a time ..hold down the Ctrl button.. once they are highlighted you drag them over to where it says your Ipod on the left side of the page.

I am by No means computer savvy but once my kid showed me how to do it, I was able to put loads of songs on.. even CD's that I uploaded to the library.

thanks I am going to try this asap

I need to get my groove on and downloaded...6 weeks and counting til pool season!!
4 mos to TL in a suit in front of hundreds...

Sheridac, sorry to hear about your daughter's accident, but I'm glad she's okay. :grouphug:

Melonmom: Okay.....suggestions for your Ipod. You've got to download James Brown's Get Up Offa That Thang. It'll make ya wanna...well...get up offa that thang. And of course you'll have get Mississippi Girl. So you can sing it at the top of your lungs while you're cleaning your house. I bet your little girl will be so cute tonight. :goodvibes Yes, I saw your pics and I loved them. Talk about Heather Locklear.... :teeth: For a minute there you threw me with that picture of you and your brother though. I was thinking 'Now that doesn't look like her DH....' I thought you had kicked DH to the curb for oh, I don't know, maybe Buzzton. But I know you'd never do that cause your DH is just too darn cute. :teeth: Yall are really cute together.

Grammy- I love the sandbox thing! And yes, we are all tanned. Well, sunburned anyway. I think all the skin on my lips got burned off, as a matter of fact. I always forget to put sunscreen on my lips and they always get the worst of it.

Here are a few pictures from the trip as promised.....

APRIL FOOLS

Thanks for all the kind words folks. Things are calmer here now. Or at least until the estimate comes!

Jen, let me know when you figure this out. I was just deciding today when I was out on my walk that I needed to get me one of these. I'm thinking of the nano though.

Back to the Poly, huh? Good for you. You'll work it out. Although, when I go, I was going to take these two cantelopes, put a bikini top on them, lay them out on the beach with a drink and take a photo. Polymelonmom gets to Poly after all! But real is better than memorex, no matter what memorex says!

Great pictures, La La! Especially the last one, it really is a work of art. Do you plan on framing it?

Sheridac, I'm glad your daughter is ok. :cheer2: Like my dad told me when I dented his Caddy, you can replace the car but not the daughter!

Okay there is now a chance that we can go to WDW during the flower show :cool1:

I am about ready to go crazy with all this flipping around.

We are down to considering plane tickets. This is the options:

1 - Purchase from Airtran now - 1 hour closer to home but $50-70 more per tickets (need 3).

2 - Hope for a SWA Ding. (This is 1 hour further drive) but could be as much as $70 per ticket cheaper.

What would you do????????

wonder where pongo is lately??[QUOTE/]

I am here, I have been having some busy times lately.
Got some bad news today, and some good
I will talk about it later

As we speak Andy is tearing the house apart...ugh

I just heard a big crash and bang...it was a ton of plaster falling down from the ceiling of our front stairwell... because he was poking around, he was going to redo it...well I guess he has too now

Thanks. Well, I would, if I could figure out how to get my shadow out of the shot. :rolleyes1 Any suggestions? Loubon, the photo king? Anything? Well, you know, besides cropping the heck out of it...

We took those pics at sunset one day and I have some other really pretty ones that I intend to have enlarged and framed. I planned the little photo shoot with the kids in white at sunset on the beach, yada yada yada. DH rolled his eyes and thought it was silly. Now he loves them and wishes he would've worn white too so he could be in the shots. :teeth: We're going back in June and he has already agreed to pack a pair of khakis and a white Polo just in case. There was a wedding going on to the right of us in that shot and a professional photographer with a huge group to the left of us. Us Clampetts came bustin' up in the middle of em all with our little digital camera, a stressed out Mama and a Dad who was over it before it began.... :teeth:

Sheridac -- talk about a scary situation. I'm glad it turned out ok, and why was the other guy stopped in the road anyway??

LaLa -- Welcome back! and oh, those pictures! I love the sand people ones, and especially that last pic. The shadow, the frolicking kids, pretty pretty pretty. Glad you had a great time.

<<Braggy mama alert>> We went out and celebrated tonight because dd5 PiperPower made the Monkey Club at gymnastics! To get in, they have to climb the rope all the way to the top and touch the ceiling (25-30 feet up, I'm guessing). She's been trying for weeks, getting a little higher each time until she stalled at about 3 quarters of the way up (that' like 3 thirds up if you work at the WalMart fabric department). When I finally asked why she kept stopping there (week after week, when she'd been making steady progress up til then) she said

"I'm worried that if I get up to the top I'll bump my head on the ceiling and I'll cry and that will make me fall."

ohhhhh. Did you know, that if you climb up JUST far enough to reach your hand to the ceiling, your head won't bump at all?

So this week, she made it! Atta girl! Happy Meals all around.

<<this concludes the mama bragfest. thanks for being here.>>

Sheridac: Sorry about you DD's wreck. Glad that she is Ok, though.

Wanted to tell you about my wonderful Anniversary Dinner, think of this as a mini trip report:

DH made a ressie at our favorite Japanese Steak House for 7PM.

After waiting for a bit, we are seated at a hibachi table with a woman and her two teen sons. Her hair was so long and dried out that I was sure it was flammable. I prayed for her every time the flames rose, and she instinctively leaned backwards.

However, she I met up in the bathroom and struck up a conversation. She had a Southern accent. Her hubby was out of town, so the boys talked her into the Japanese Steak House for dinner.

They finally took our orders and brought out our hot, moist towels for our hands... and when I opened mine, it was dirty inside. I was not pleased.

We waited.... and waited.... and waited... for them to come and start our meals. No dice. Suddenly a waiter appeared and placed 2 more menus on the table.

In walks a young couple and a toddler. For reasons I do not comprehend, they place this little one right next to me on the corner. There were plenty of seats available for each of us to have our own space, but for some reason this is where they put this toddler. Now, at first I was a bit annoyed that they had placed this little guy next to me, as I know what toddlers do when they eat. I've had 3 of my own.

It wasn't all that bad, he only slapped my arm twice and he was mostly well-behaved if not well fed.

His parents and I chatted through dinner. I ordered a mai tai with my dinner and it wasn't as good as I remember them being and they no longer serve them in the special tiki glasses. I was sad.

I turned to the young mom, and said "mai tai just say that this is a fairly good mai tai?" She laughed and told me where to go to get a really good one.

Dinner went well, our chef was entertaining. The funniest thing that happened though was at the end of dinner. I was sitting there and noticed a single, lone green pea sitting in front of me. For no particular reason, i decided to see if I could launch it into the middle of the hibachi grill...

I overshot my target and it went flying over to rest right in fron of one of the teen boys. He pretended not to notice, which only made me laugh louder. The other couple and I blamed the mai tai for all the trouble it caused.

All in all, despit the long wait, we had a great meal. But now, I must get my bones to bed as I have a long day tomorrow.

Mai tai suggest a shower first? Of course you may darling... it's maaahhhvelous!
:wizard:
Cheers and MAELSTROM!

LALALALALALALALA's back. Your pix look wonderful -- there really is no mistaking any beach in the world for the sugar-white sand and crystal blue waters of Destin.

PolyMelonMom, re: your IPOD, if you're having trouble downloading, let me make a couple of suggestions. First, make sure the IPOD isn't in the "Hold" position -- that is, make sure the "Hold" button isn't set to on. Second, when you are in ITunes, do you see your IPOD listed as an additional drive in the upper left corner? If not, then ITunes isn't recognizing your IPOD. If that's the case, resetting the IPOD sometimes works. To reset, disconnect the IPOD from your computer, then toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Then, press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step. Once the IPOD resets, close ITunes, and then connect your IPOD to the computer. If all goes well, it will automatically open ITunes and recognize your IPOD. Third, what kind of connection are you using? The new IPOD's only recognize USB2 connections, not just regular USB, so if you 'puter is a little on the aged side, that might be the problem.

If none of these suggestions work, then take a hammer and beat the thing into little pieces -- it still won't work, but you'll feel much better.

Okay, serious question for all you experts out there. We're currently booked to go for our first Christmas trip to the House of Mouse for December 2 to 9. Today, the woman who looks after our kids after school (okay, I'll admit that I hate the word "nanny" -- sounds too Sound of Music or Mary Poppins for me (sorry Mommy Poppins)) said she needs to be off the following week. So we're considering switching our Disney trip to that week, to coincide with her now-announced vacation. Any reason why the week of December 9 through 16 would be better than the first week of December? I know about Pop Warner, but we're staying at BCV, so that shouldn't be too much of an issue for us. It's not too much of an issue to juggle the kids if we keep things as they are, so the only real question is, is the second week of December better or worse than the first week? Any advice would be appreciated.

(I added the dancing banana for Mel, in case she ever comes back).

Hey Maelstromers....I recently saw a picture of several characters in the lobby of CRT and I wanted to show it to another DIS friend who is going there. It may have been in someone's signature but I'm thinking it might have been in one of your trip reports.

Anyone want to come forward on that one? :)

In my experience, crowds are considerably lower the second week of December. I don't know why, and it doesn't really matter...it just is! (I did a quick check on touringplans.com, and they agree.)

Disclaimer: I've reached this conclusion after lotsnlots of December visits to The Mouse. YMMV! :thumbsup2

What would you do????????

I guess it would depend on if I was traveling w/my kids. If I wasn't then I would go for the cheaper airfare..deal with driving further away and any inconveinances that brings.

If my kids were coming, then I would go w/ the closer airport. Are you looking at an overall savings of about $150 - $210? I'm not sure that would be enough for me to have to drive further away and don't forget about airport parking.. are both airports charging the same to park..remember about gas, it keeps going up... think about any tolls you have to pay...so REALLY calculate what your savings would be.

Good Luck Minnie :wave2:
