Food was very good, price was high but atmosphere was incredible.

REALLY????

You know, I sometimes hate the Restaurants board... although I LOVE it! Because it makes me second guess my gut sometimes. We should have tried it last time. Is it dark? Will they seat you by the tank if you ask and are prepared to wait?

Although I have never done it, I have to say, I would think the brunch would be pretty special. We have done the the Easter thing before when we were there and Disney has such a way with making special events so much more special.

I know. I think it would be really nice. We could dress up and it's probably beautiful to eat in the gardens. But... Beth will be charged as an adult. That's about $45 if I remember correctly. Which seems like highway robbery for what she'll eat. That is the only thing stopping me. Price consideration. Cause I LOVELOVELOVE me some brunch. Especially on Mother's Day.

It is dark but with the tanks it makes a real nice atmosphere. Not sure about the seating. We made our ressies way in advance so we were up front but I don't kno if that was just coincidence. But the way it is layed out even if you 're not up front it is still nice. If I remember correctly the second row of tables is a little higher in sort of a semi circle like a theater.

Have you been to the Grand Floridian cafe? It's really nice there, the food and service is good and prices not too bad. It's really pretty inside so you could still get gussied up but not spend too many US $.

Also, what about the GF tea on Mom's day? Just a thought.

Ok, thanks. I think maybe I will try this for dinner on Mother's Day. If they are booked I will try it for lunch that day or see what is still available for our time frame. I hate this!!! I make ADRs way in advance and then change them a couple of times until my PANIC mode sets in and then I change them AGAIN! We're only a month away so it figures!

TIME TO PANIC...

TIME TO PANIC...

Mel, we ate at Coral Reef in January (lunch). We were pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed our food very much~especially the Chocolate Wave dessert!!

Try to get the earliest ADR you can. And request tank side when you check in. Good luck!

I know!!! I just told MommyP that too. We've only had breakfast there though. But we really enjoyed it. It was pretty and sunny and, although our server was a very heavy sweater, really a very nice experience. The menu looks good too.

I booked the GF Afternoon Tea, again, already for Beth and I but I don't want to split up with the boys on Mother's Day. And they won't want to do the Tea. I'm SURE. So we're doing it on a MK day earlier on in the trip.

I recommend it to anyone with a daughter/daughters... it's so much fun.

Hear that Melons? La La?

Don't Complain! Wish I were just a month away!!

....You guys are making me HUNGRY with all this restaurant talk! Could go for some Le Cellier cheddar cheese soup and pretzel breadsticks right about now....mmmmmm

Yummy!!!! I'll bet ZZUB is getting hungry just thinking about eating at his favourite restaurant.

I've made the soup at home a couple of times. I've had to change the recipe around 'cause there seems to be something wrong with the one I originally found. Too much flour I think.

What did you get for entrees, Rhonda? Do you remember?

I am pretty sure that Mark got the Grilled Mahi Mahi and I had the Grilled Chicken. Wesley had pizza. And for dessert, we had that fabulous Chocolate Wave!

Mel - we were there on Mom's Day a couple of years back. I decided not to deal with the crowds doing brunch. We just went to the MK that morning. I got my "free" carnation, and it seemed to me that it wasn't very busy that morning at MK. Maybe all the Mommies were doing brunch. It was DS's bday that day too, he got some free stuff from CM's. Very nice!

Nice Viking pic's I will say so myself (Ed Grimley reference there :teeth: )

I have to admit I'm a Maelstrom newbie - never been through the pavillon. Ate lunch there once though. Creepy trolls scared off my kids. They should be used to it with all the pic's of Tom Cruise in mags and on the TV lately :rotfl2:

We'll definately make it a priority for July. :Pinkbounc

I'm sure they are going to start wondering why people suddenly taking so many pic's of their fastpass machine! :rotfl: I'm there!

GAAristocat - my kids like medicine too. DS loves the thick purple guck, and DD loves the banana flavor antibiotic. I have to hide the gummy vitamins.....they'd eat the whole jar!

Considering Coral Reef for lunch.........kidlets love aquariums. Is it worth it??

Maelstrom!

:clown: - I like this guy - it looks as if he has a minature Canadian flag on his belt!

We've only had breakfast there though.

I had dinner there on the spur of the moment. We had a CRT ressie, but my MIL and FIL were just moving too slow and we were about a half hour late. I didn't want to go in to the park and then be turned away cause we were so late. So we went to GFC instead and got right in. We were so glad too, because it was really, really good. We're planning to go back next trip.

We were on the Premium Plan so cost was not a consideration for us. We ate at 7 of the Signature resturants and while the Coral Reef wasn't the best of them it wasn't bad and I would not hesitate to eat there again. We both had fish and it was good, not great but still good. The service was a little slow but it was very crowded and you do have to fish, sharks, turtles, and divers to watch while waiting.

I have seen people give bad reviews to every resturant in WDW and our least favorite was one that most people rave about (Jiko's, not because it was bad, it is a very nice resturant but the taste of the food just didn't appeal to us as much as the other resturants).

So basically the only way to know if you would like a place or not is to try it.

The best (in our opinion) meal we had was at Citricos and it was a veal and scollops dish that wasn't even on the menu.

The only thing that we had to eat the entire week that we really didn't like was egg salad at the Earl of Sandwich, others things there may be great but we were not impressed at all with the egg salad :confused3

Where'd you get the recipe? Is it on AllEars? Would love to make it!

Yeah... I'm pretty sure it was from there. But I didn't turn out properly the first time. It was like paste kinda. I made everyone choke it down anyway... but the next times I played around with it and it improved. I will actually take a look in my recipes to see if I wrote what I did to improve it down. But, later... 'cause I gotta run now.

My cousin and his family from up North are coming here for the weekend. Then when they leave I have two University friends coming to stay with us through till the Tues. after Easter. I think I will miss some quality Dising time.

Boo hoo.

Gotta blast. Back later if I get a chance.

Mel.

I found the recipe, and would love to hear what you did for adjustments. Can't understand why it was pasty...only has 3 TB of flour, and about 6 cups of liquid (counting the Ale). It looks good! I may have to try it soon.......

Ok... now I have a question for someone. Anyone. We're in WDW on Mother's Day and I still don't have a great idea for lunch and/or dinner. I have somethings booked, just in case, but I want to do something fun and special. It's up to me to organize this... even though it's Mother's Day... but that's to be expected because Mellyman is not the Disney Planner here. My question is: anyone know anything about the Brunch at Epcot. It's outside, I think. And I've seen what is on AllEarsnet but has anyone actually DONE IT? 'Cause it's pretty pricey. Especially for the kids. Beth especially. Worth it or not? Plus... it's probably too late to even consider getting a ADR for it. I'm just looking for something... uhhh, specialish... you know? Ideas???? Blab blab blabbity blab blab.

Mel.

Mel - We are going planning to be in WDW over Mother's Day weekend too!!!! My mother, son, and I are taking a quick trip down because we have always wanted to go to the F&G Show. I think we are going to try the Pop for this quick trip. Anyway I just called yesterday about the Brunch on Mother's Day and they had plenty of seating times available. I didn't book it yet as we still have a couple things to firm up before I do this as you have to reserve by credit card. My DS is a very picky eater and at age 12 for the price it wouldn't be worth it that way but we still may do it. Need to make up my mind on this on yet :rolleyes1

Did Mother's Day make the Flower & Garden Show more crowded? We are planning a quick trip down and I wonder if we picked the wrong weekend? We still have time to change it if we need too. The main reason for the trip is the F&G show and we will only have 1 full day (Mother's Day) to really enjoy it.

Sorry Minnie, I don't really know. We were in Fantasy and Tomorrowland and it wasn't busy at all. I think that because it's Mom's day a lot of Mom's just want to sleep in and maybe that's why it wasn't that busy. :confused3

I'm sure you'd be OK, as long as you get at early start at Epcot.
