My Bro and my Nephew were in Iraq at the same time. Bro came home this summer after TWO years and now Ryan will be home.

Kim's brother is there now and she is so worried, and my friend who teaches next door to me, her brother just went two weeks ago.

Speaking of military, reminds me of my cousin in Japan, and did you know they had a TORNADO there???? Freaky! Not on his island though.

THANKS! I actually DO have a question. I posted a thread about this a few months ago. My mom LOVES italian rum cake, and I did a search on local Anaheim bakeries. I'm sure they would deliver one to our hotel, but would you be able to recommend a good one?

I know, Kar!! We're excited, but just found out tongiht that MIL has to have surgery AGAIN tomorrow. She had her hip replaced about 2.5 weeks ago...came home...it got infected so they operated again...said they were going to release her to a continuous care facility today but have decided to operate again because of the infection. My poor DH was in tears tonight.

YUP. My Bro is a LTC and he hears in a week that he has made COLONEL....

He and Ryan (Private) were in Iraq at the same time....which freaked our whole family BUT they were in separate complete areas of Iraq. They flew my Bro to see him for TWO hours on his birthday and then got my BRO back to his base.

UUMMM...no. I live in South OC, about 30 miles SW of Anaheim, so Idon't know the DL surrounding area that well. But also b/c CA is not known for it's food unless you're talking Mexican or Sushi. Growing up in NY, there isn't much good out here with the word Italian in it.

No, we're still going as planned unless something would happen tomorrow. DH talked to her tonight and said she sounded good and didn't seem worried. Luckily he's off on Friday and will go up to see her then (the hospital is about an hour away). I just feel so terrible for her....

Cool. My dad was inthe army. He was a door gunner in Vietnam. My Grandpa was a cheif-master-sergeant, served in WWII and Korea. His twin was a colonel too...I think Army..

Needless to say..I have a huge amount of respect and admiration for soldiers.

Great uncle passed away before Iwas born. Dad was H. discharged b4 I was born. Grnadpa was a career man, but was pretty much retired byt hetime I knew what the military was. So I didn't really grow up an "army brat". Used to go to comissary and PX with grandma who helped raise me though.
