I am now fully recovered, thanks for asking. Just in time to help out my parents, hard to do with them in another state, but I took some time off and did what I could for a few days..............

You know I was thinking about you today, and thinking what a good daughter you are. I have issues with my parents, but I think if it came right down to it, I would put all of that aside if my parents needed me. We used to be so close and my brother had to be so ugly to me.

When DH had open heart surgery 2 years ago, a copy of the bill that they sent to the insurance came in, and I thought I was going to have a heart attack and have to have open heart something. Before insurance the hospital bill was $275,000. That didn't include, anthisiologist, Dr., or Physical Therapy and medication. Those came later. It was very painful.

This was just outpatient...........mom's bills from one hospital are over 80K, and that doesn't include the other hospital, ambulance, care flight, pt, home health aide, visiting nurse, meds or equipment at home.....hospital bed, wheelchair, potty chair..............

Oh I am so sure her bills will be through the roof. I hope the other guy is aware of how much pain and suffering your mom and the rest of your family has and continues to go through.

Wow, Paige, how do you keep it all straight...are you handling all the insurance papers for M&D?

The medical expenses are outrageous. My BIL (25) had an appendectomy done (emergency) and at the time he had no insurance. The final total was just under $70,000. Fortunately they found an agency that helps people with medical bills. The foundation paid the entire bill!

And you know what, you can SLEEP good at night, knowing that YOU want to be there for them, helping them!

wow S4S! What a great foundation. Your BIL is sure lucky! I never thought that a procedure so small as an appendectomy couldbe that expensive.

Actually, I feel a bit guilty that I didn't stay longer, and that I was happy to come home to my dh and kids.................

So now you're caught up, maybe, S4S, I'm sure I've forgotten something........I didn't even touch on Denise or Tricia! But what's happened with you since you've been off the DIS?

Normally your right but the appendix ruptured and he was in ICU for 2 weeks and at one point they thought he might die. He was in the hosp for 3 1/2 weeks total.

How far away are they? My parents are 2 hours north in Maine all summer and then they go to Florida in the winter. I try to get up to Maine one weekend in May-June-July-Aug-Sept and now they are leaving.

You know what, I am sure that you feel guilt, but your family needs you too. Especially your boys, they mom to be there for them.
