We recently moved (okay not so recent any more but about 2 years ago) to a new area. We love it. The library is the one thing I have found very lacking.

Sniff sniff. I LOVE libraries...one of my favorite places to spend a day. However, our library has way more videos than books. Okay, maybe not total (in all honesty) but way more new videos then new books.
I understand about budget constraints. Time it takes to aquire things...all of the general headaches to making "everyone" happy...my only problem is that they buy tons of videos (think blockbuster type videos not educational videos) and the book shelves remain sparse.
What can I do without insulting the people who work there (and I know they are working hard) to maybe suggest something new. **I have tried dropping suggestion card after suggestion card into the little box they have set out**
Our children's programs are about 60% video screenings with the other 20% of activities having nothing to do with books and that leaves about 20% of the stuff to do with books...gasp...at a library.
Let me add that we live in an area with a large literacy problem (we are located at the start of the Apilachian (I know I slaughtered spelling that) foothills. But how is that ever going to change when even the library focus is on videos instead of books??!!
Any ideas would be very appreciated!!
