Medically, there is no reason to breastfeed that long. I personally think it has to do with some psychological need on mom's part, but I know people who claim this isn't true. I can sort of see 2 and 3 yr. olds, but my goodness EIGHT?

I breastfed, but the longest I did was 12 months. AND the one I breastfed that long was my baby, because part of me didn't want him to stop being my baby....that's why I think there's some psychological issues at play.
IMHO, of course.
