The Lonely Hearts Club

Hang it there...it gets better. Back in 2007, my boyfriend of 3+ years dumped me over the phone on Valentine's Day. I later found out that he had been cheating on me, too. Needless to say, Valentine's Day was not a fun day for me for a while. Fast forward a few years...I met my Prince Charming and we're now celebrating our first Valentine's Day as a married couple. Even so, we're not making a big deal out of Valentine's Day. DH took me to dinner on Saturday and I'll cook something nice tomorrow, but we'd rather save the money for our trip to WDW this summer!

While Valentine's Day may be hard, remember it is just a silly day hyped by Hallmark, florists, and jewelry stores. Think all those in your life that love you for who you are and don't need a made-up holiday to express it--my friends/family were the ones that really helped me get through it.

consider a great big ol Texas hug coming your way:goodvibes.

And yes, I agree - find something fun to do Mondaypopcorn::.

Me? I am......just a chillin out at home Monday making some home made mini pizzas with my trusted 4 legged assistant ("Ladybug") followed by watching some dvds about Ireland:cloud9:.

I think there are far more of us who don't celebrate this holiday than those who do (even among those in a committed relationship.) I was married for over 15 years and not once did we have a romantic dinner or exchange gifts. It was always just another day.

Nikki....thank you for posting this. Usually, Valentine's Day doesn't bother me...but this year it is.

It's nice to know I'm not alone!

Laura :)

Add me in!!!

Most of the time I do well to stick to my strong independant supermom persona.... but for some reason days like valentines, and things like my best friend getting married and being so happy in love (which is great, I am happy for her)

It is just... difficult.

Work is hard on valentines, I think I am the only single person in the building, lots of flowers and deliveries tomorrow, kinda makes it set in that your alone and no one cares to send you anything :confused3

Good luck tomorrow guys/gals

Ah, it's just another day. I'm single and I'm happy so honestly, it's just another Monday. I'm a kindergarten teacher so I'm making it fun for my kids! They are excited and brought me cute hand-written cards and chocolates. And to be honest - that means more to me than any boyfriend that I had ever gave to me. Bc it came from an honest, true place. Seriously, some men act like an idiot the other 364 days of the year and suddenly they go out and spend some $ and I'm supposed to fawn over it? LOL no way! I'd rather have you be nice to me EVERY day, not just bc a greeting card company wants you to be nice on 2/14!! I have married friends that are going out to dinner tonight with their husbands and more than 1/2 of them said they'd rather have the day to themselves! It's a "formality" for a lot of them, and that's how it felt with my past boyfriends after the "honeymoon" phase wore off. I'm single, independent, happy, and not looking so it's all about me today LOL. Going home to my clean house, not be pissed off about anything, have the TV to myself, I'll do what I want and not do what I don't want to and then tomorrow will be Tuesday!! Singles rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Monday everyone!!! :goodvibes

Happy Monday Everyone !!!!

I did in fact treat myself to a Starbucks and ordered some great food from an oriental bakery for lunch....plus the Girl Scout Cookies that ordered came in....it's a good day !

I have mixed feelings about this holiday. My parents always did cute things for us and still do for each other. When I have had a boyfriend at this time of year it's always seemed so forced. So I enjoy my time with my preschool students because they are SO excited to give and receive Valentines and I know their Valentines are given with genuine affection.

Nikki - I'm right here with ya. I'm still working on that new screen name. I hate to even post here. I don't even like to see it. *sigh*

:grouphug: I have always hated Valentines Day. It is my mom's birthday so I celebrate that instead. Even married I don't like Valentines Day it is stupid. It is about love, friends and family. :grouphug:

Anyway love you!

I cooked my 12 year old son his favorite spaghetti & meatballs - nothing like sharing Valentine's Day dinner with your favorite guy
