The Living Seas....Am I missing something?

My wife claims that there used to be or still is a ride in the Living Seas that tours the facility. I have no memory of anything like this. The only thing I remember is a movie and some exhibits. Is there anything else?

When did this happen and was there some reason why they did away with it?

I was reading about the Sea Cabs a couple weeks ago (on another Disney forum). They are still at The Living Seas Pavillion and if I remember correctly someone had posted that there was a leak that caused problems with the omni mover system of the sea cabs. I think they closed sometime between 1995-1999 (they were there when I visited in 95, but gone in 99! Here is a link to a page that has the spiel from the hydrolators and sea cabs (it also shows a pic of the sea cabs!).

They closed during the drop in tourism after 9/11. They were still in operation when we were there in October, 2001. I think it was a few months later that they closed them, supposedly temporarily - just like River Country.

The Living Seas itself could use a makeover. That ride (abeit a brief ride) was at least SOMETHING. Nowadays, we don't even visit Living Seas when we do Epcot. Too bad, as I'd like to "like it" more---

I was going to say it was there in Sept 2000 since I did the Dive Quest (where you scuba in the aquarium). I had fun swimming over the tube that carried the sea cabs and waving to the kids and my family!

They have updated it a bit with a Finding Nemo theme, but the biggest addtion is the "Talk with Crush" show. Crush, the turtle from Finding Nemo, actually interacts with children who attend the show. You just never know what's going to come out of the mouth of a child! We originally saw it during our New Year's trip and loved it. :lovestruc

We just saw it again 2 weeks ago and they have now added Dory. It's even better than before and it's now a "must see" for us on any future trips!

Thanks, OP for starting this thread my boyfriend and I have been arguing back and forth weather or not Living Seas used to have a ride. I said "yes" he said "no". I knew that something was missing when we didn't get into those little blue cars last rip. I am emailing him that Intercot link so he can see the blue cars. LoL :rotfl: Thanks again! :wave2:

I was just wondering if Ellen does the voice of Dory in the Crush show?

My daughter loved looking at all of the marine life. She loves to watch "Animal Planet" and educational channels. Finding Nemo fish are very cool.

We had a manatee (sp?) swim right by use...the look on my daughters face was priceless. We would have spent more time in this place had it not been so cold inside.

WOW!

I never remembered there being an omnimover in Living Seas.
If anyone has more pictures of this I would appreciate it.

thanks,

Awww I'm so excited they upgarded it. I sooo have to go check out Finding Nemo there! I'm wondering if they will make a Finding Nemo 'ride'??:fish:

Look for DLR to have a Finding Nemo ride with the reinstall of the subs. Sorry that WDW won't be getting this. By the way, Turtle Talk is coming to DCA as well.

We went in November of 2001, the week after Thanksgiving. They were not there on that trip. I had told my husband that there was a ride in Living Seas. That was his first time to Epocot so he went in/on everything. I remember him complaining to me because I told him it was a ride and then there wasn't one.
They must have closed it some time in late October or early November.

I don't waste time with it either. I didn't even know they had the "subs" ride. I wonder why United Technologies pulled out of sponsership? Too much $$$ I guess. :confused3

I remember the ride......

The LS building still said "Sponsored by United Technologies" when we were there in April this year. :confused3
