The link says it all.

This seems too serious to be a Disney film, IMO. They have enough Holocaust movies, so why make another one? :confused3

I went to see this women act out Anne Frank's diary and she was her friend.
It was some seriously heavy stuff. I'm very iffy about it.

IDK how I feel about it. Part of me says "NONONO!" but I think they might be able to put a cool, modern yet still older and sticking to the theme spin on it.

The Diary of Anne Frank is one of my favourite books ever. Disney is my favourite thing ever. Will they mix well? I guess we'll have to see...

Terrible idea. Disney movies are supposed to have happy endings, aren't they? I can't think of any of their movies that didn't have some sort of happy thing at the end.

this seems like way to heavy of a story for disney, they sugar coat everything i cant see them handling this specific topic.

"David, who is already writing the script, will be looking at the original diary along with the Broadway play in order to bring "his own original take on the material that could re-frame the story as a young girl’s rite of passage.""

This seems weird to me. It seems as though he is going to put his own spin on it. If he does I think it will suck because it will almost seem like historical fiction. By "original take" I'm concerned this means put the usual disney fluff in it.

Edit: The good thing about Disney owning the rights it that they will handle it properly as it is a sensitive topic. However, I think they may do something weird to market it to a younger audience.

i think it's kind of weird that david mamet is writing a disney movie.
let alone it being the diary of anne frank.
sounds like a very odd combo!!!

i agree it is an odd paring....hopefully it will be done tastefully and not over the top. personally i will go see it.

I hope they dont put some kind of sugar coating on it. I think that's very disrepectful if they cut out parts and put some kind of modern twist in her life. i'd be very upset if this happens. but if this movie is done right, I think it'll be a big success.

I'm kind of hoping it's a live action film.
I mean I'm assuming it is, but as a 2 or 3D film, it would be... scarring?

That is interesting. It kinda feels like Disney is changing their persona.

Well, The Boy In the Striped Pajamas was by Disney and that movie didn't have a happy ending at all.
So maybe they'll do this one justice.

I am SO offended.

Walt didn't like Jews...
not only that, but if they CHANGE the story in any way...

That is SO offensive, because this is a girls LIFE. It completely offends everything she had to go through.

I am against this 100 percent.

Mouse im pretty sure that isnt true....
if walt truely did not like Jewish people he would probly not have let them in his park.:confused3

Not really.

Theres no way of checking EVERY single person to see if their a jew. I mean, this isn't nazi germany.

I could not like jewish people but wouldn't care if they were in my park to have a good time. I'm not saying Walt was Hitler. I'm saying I've heard multiple times that Walt Disney frowned upon Jewish people, as a PERSONAL thing. Nothing related to buisness.

Catch my drift?

True but still. Where did you hear that he didnt like Jews. My great grandmother came from Germany in the 50's and still talks about dis-likeing the Jews. So i guess its how society plays a part in how you think.
