Could someone PM me about our other thread? I can't believe the whole thing got deleted. I read it last night and don't remember anything out of the usual.

This thread will do fine. We are all mostly liberal anyway. ;)

Has Obama named a press secretary yet? Anyone will be better than the ones Bush had.

I just received this from my favorite cousin:

Future President Speaks In Complete Sentences
:

In the first two weeks since the election, President-elect Barack Obama has broken with a tradition established over the past eight years through his controversial use of complete sentences, political observers say.

Millions of Americans who watched Mr. Obama's appearance on CBS's 60 Minutes on Sunday witnessed the president-elect's unorthodox verbal tick, which had Mr. Obama employing grammatically correct sentences virtually every time he opened his mouth.

But Mr. Obama's decision to use complete sentences in his public pronouncements carries with it certain risks, since after the last eight years many Americans may find his odd speaking style jarring.

According to presidential historian Davis Logsdon of the University of Minnesota, some Americans might find it "alienating" to have a president who speaks English as if it were his first language.

"Every time Obama opens his mouth, his subjects and verbs are in agreement," says Mr. Logsdon. "If he keeps it up, he is running the risk of sounding like an elitist."

The historian said that if Mr. Obama insists on using complete sentences in his speeches, the public may find itself saying, "Okay, subject, predicate, subject predicate -- we get it, stop showing off."

The president-elect's stubborn insistence on using complete sentences has already attracted a rebuke from one of his harshest critics, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska.

"Talking with complete sentences there and also too talking in a way that ordinary Americans like Joe the Plumber and Tito the Builder can't really do there, I think needing to do that isn't tapping into what Americans are needing also," she said.

Jen, could you PM me, too? I want to know what happened to our Ohana countdown thread??? :confused3 I hope the results you get back from Jon's tests are good! Do keep us posted. Are you in Alb. for the weekend or did you have the tests done somewhere else? We do need to meet up for a latte or something sometime!

Oreo, I'm so sorry to hear about your dog, but I'm glad to know he's on the mend! One of our Shelties was vomiting up tons of flem yesterday. I was afraid he had eaten something (non food like a footie sock) that was stuck in his gut. He seems fine today, so I'm hopeful that it was not serious.

Well, I'm pooped. Just got back from taking DD and her friend to see Twilight. I've definitely had my fill tonight of listening to a movie theater full of tweens and teen girls swooning over Edward and Jason. :cloud9:

Whaaa for Bill not getting SoS  Maybe he'll get Sec of Commerce? I still think he was the best pick for SoS, but am pleased that if it wasn't Richardson, it was Hillary. I guess we'll wait and see. I hate to loose him a gov. though if the trade-off is a position that he's not as well suited for.

Me too! :headache:

I was hoping for Richardson for SoS too. Oh well. I'll live. :rotfl:

Thanks everyone for the wellwishes!

Richardson would have been a great SoS, but I'm sure Obama has plans for him.

HC will do a fantastic job. She's well respected internationally, and the Clinton names carries a ton of weight overseas!

I'm not sure if this has been posted yet. A school in new york has renamed itself Barack Obama Elementary. The cool part is the students asked for it at a school board meeting.

Heres a link to a story and video about it.

Isn't it great? But nooooooooo, someone had to attack already and say people are worshipping Obama...
I think some of these people need to read their history and civil rights in America. :sad2:

This is a great piece of satire from Andy Borowitz Here is a link to Borowitz's original piece http://www.borowitzreport.com/article.aspx?ID=6961
