We just got home from our Labor Day trip. It was hot (we knew that going in), it rained only one day (that was a plus), and the food was free with the "Free Dining Plan". So it was all in all a good time!

We are: Dh pirate: 31 and he loves a good steak
Dw :bride: 31 and a vegetarian
DD princess: 8 and eats anything that resembles Mac n Cheese

We decided to do this trip sort of last minute, we booked it toward the end of the free dining booking time. But still managed to snag some decent ADRS. We wanted to try some new places this trip and we did, but kept the Le Cellier and Coral Reef standbys as they are family favorites.

Day 1 was driving across to Detroit, dinner was top notch in DD's book. She loves fine dining and for her that is McDonalds! Its a real treat for her, I hate the place so we only stop on the way to vacations.

DD had the child's 4 piece nugget happy meal with fries and a chocolate milk. She ate them all with honey and ketchup, she declared it delicious! Dh ate 3 cheese burgers, they were gone by the time we made it back onto the highway so they must have been alright. I ate the very dry and boring apple pie. It was alright but not the creme brulee I was dreaming of! :rolleyes1

I knew the next days dining would be better because we would be in Disney, DD thought was going to be surprised! ;)

Whispering Canyon Post #7
Le Cellier #8

We had a 7:30 am flight. I didnt plan it that way, but Spirit went from 6 flights to 2... 7:30 am or 5:30 pm.... we ended up on the 7:30 which ment more Disney time but getting up at 4:45 in the morning.

I wrongly figured we would have no problem finding food at the airport. Dd is a bit picky or atleast she is first thing in the morning. The poptarts we found were not the right kind, she wanted cereal and they didnt have it. She wanted everything they didnt have... this was not starting out on a good foot! We settled on chocolate milk and a cookie. I had the strawberry poptart and Dh had coffee.

We landed, got right thru ME and were off to Caribbean Beach Resort in record time! We were ready to go to MK for the afternoon, but we waited, waited and waited for that MK bus. It took 30min to come. It was hot, I was hungry and I wanted to go.... (insert a serious whine here....)

After a trip to guest services to get our Aps and DDE card we were off!!!!

We got so busy playing, meeting Stitch, riding Buzz lightyear that I didnt get time to eat. After a trip on Space Mountian I was in serious need of something to put in my stomach!!!! The nearest location was Auntie Gravity so I had the tropical fruit smoothie. It was awesome and even better at only 1 snack credit. I was so happy to have it I forgot to take its picture! Dh orded an ice tea and a water for DD at the lunching pad.

We watched Mike with 1 eye do his routine on the laugh floor, rode the pirates, DD was in the pirate tutorial, we rode the jungle cruise, everything with no wait. We were hot and beat, it was only 3pm!

We had a 6:40 ADR at Whispering Canyon. We took the boat over to explore the resort and find a place for a cold drink! :thumbsup2

Next to the Artist Point was a nice quiet lounge. We ordered up a couple of drinks: Bud, something fruity and a chocolate milk! We also ordered up some nachos. They were loaded and very, very good. We tried out the new DDE card, it worked great and was easy! I was too hungry to take any photos.

We wandered around the lodge for a bit and at 6:20 decided to see if we could check in early for Whispering Canyon. We were told they were running a bit behind but gave us a pager even though we were early. We found a lovely spot near the check it that was showing cartoons to keep DD busy. We were falling asleep in the big comfy chairs while waiting. At 7:15 we moved into the check in area so DD could play with the lincoln logs while we waited. At 7:45 we were buzzed and seated.

We were seated in the main dining area and right away there was a call for ketchup! DD took the bottle from our table and ran it over. We orderd the Macaroni for DD, I had the Vegetable Enchelada and Dh had the fish. The cornbread was good.

Dh's fish wasnt that good he said. He ate it all but wouldnt order it again. My enchelada was gross. Really gross! I know we were tired and we had waited a while to eat, so that might have made it worse. But it was bad and we wont be back again. It was like they threw baked beans with some squash into a shell, put the sauce and cheese on it and called it an enchelada. It tasted like spicy baked beans. Even Dh turned up his nose and he eats almost everything.

We took the smores cheese cake and apple pie to go. I ate the cheesecake the next day and it wasnt anything to write home about.

Whispering Canyon was one I had wanted to try but it just wasnt for us. DD had fun the one time she ran with the ketchup but that was about it.

I love Epcot Day, almost as much as I love Animal Kingdom Day!

Epcot has Test track and Soaring! Figment and Crush! :worship:

And it has all the yummy world showcase places to eat!!!! :thumbsup2

Lunch was Le Cellier, dinner we do every year but lunch was all we could get for this trip. I was looking forward to Creme Brulee and ice wine. This is dining nirvana! We were offered the fixed lunch menu if we wished with the dining plan. That ment I could get my cheese soup with out having to pay out of pocket for it! :thumbsup2

DD had the cheese soup for her appetizer, hot dog without a bun and the make your own sundae. I had the soup, the ceasar salad without chicken and the creme brulee. I washed it all down with an ice wine martini! It was excellant! Dh had the mushroom filet and cheesecake for dessert.

Everything sounds pretty good so far (except for that veggie enchilada :scared: )! I'll keep watching for more updates!

Waiting for more! Love your report, thanks. We didn't care for WC either.

Great review so far! Was the Mushroom Fillet on the fixed lunch menu and what other choice were there?

Great Reviews! Sorry to hear about your lousy enchillada. It looks like LaCellier made up for what WCC lacked. Hope the rest of your trip was great.:)

I think it was the mostly $15 and under items. The salads, sandwiches, etc. I know Dh's steak was not an option on the fixed menu.

We didn't have a good experience at WCC either - more the service than the food - but at least we were seated on/close to on time. To wait over an HOUR past your ADR time??? That's ridiculous in my opinion and then to get bad food - awful!!!
