I would love to go by eurostar but we're in Glasgow and the prices are higher than our flights by the time we've paid for train fare and a possible overnight in the travelodge etc its just too much

Have you checked flight prices? We paid £291 for 4 of us return with easyjet from Glasgow to CDG

We're near Glasgow too and managed somehow to do it for less in November, but I think the train prices we got for Glasgow to London were some kind of glitch on the system, we paid £45 for returns for 3 adults! Spent a bit of time in London with family too, and loved the Eurostar, but it is a lot of upheaval.
If I lived in London I think I'd pop over to DLP every other week, they don't know how good they've got it!
