We are
Me - 42 years old (ouch!)
Wife Denise also 42 (heh heh) I think we refer to her as DW here
Son Tom almost 12, DS?
Daughter Rebecca (Becky) 10 going on 19, and therefor DD
We woke up at about 7, luckily the packing fairy had visitied last night and we were ready to go! I can't udnerstand why my DW gets so stressed about going away. I've not packed our cases once since we married, and sure enough, before every holiday at the last minute it always gets done for us.
I was volunteered to take the bags to the luggage collection point, while the rest said farewell to our room and we met up in te restaurant for breakfast, then bus to the park.
We decided to finish off the Studios with the one attractiuon we'd missed Armegeddon, not an E ticket, but they've improved the pre-show since our last visit. DD gets a bit nervous on these rides, she hated Twister at Universal Studios and Temple Del Fuego at Port Aventura, She coped OK with Armegeddon, it's not as intense as the Universal attractions.
After that we saw there was just a 5 minuite wait for Rock n Roller Coaster so with her new found courage DD and I headed over, DW and DS decided their breakfast might put in an unwelcome reappearance if they rode so went into the shop to wait, Great ride as ever.
We then took a slow walk back through the studios for the last time, and met up with Nemo, who was "swimming" along the street and happily posed for pictures with the kids.
Next door in Disneyland first stop was BTM for a Fastpass ticket, I then defied my advancing years by jogging over to Discoveryland and getting Space Mountain FastPasses. Nature then fought back and I staggered back to Frontierland and met up with the rest of the family.
DS was keen to ride the the Mummy Cruise Line, this was the jewell in the crown of the Halloween decorations at DLP this year, it really achieved the illusion of a ghostly spectre pulling the boat round the Rivers of the Wild West. If only the seagulls joined in the spirit of things and stopped landing on its head and leaving their calling cards....
It was then time for our Space Mountain Fastpasses so it was back over to Discoveryland. and just as we boarded DS decided breakfast was still not ready to deal with a looping coaster and walked off leaving me DD, and DW to journey from the earth to the moon.
A lot of people say the ride has deteriorated and is now too rough, and while it's not as smooth as the Rock N Roller Coaster it's still great ride.
The yo yo-ing between Discoverland and Frontierland continued as we headed back to use our BTM Fastpasses, and then we decided it was time for food.
We headed off to Fantasyland and Fish and Chips all round at Toad Hall's restaurant, and at last the temperature had struggled up to double figures so we sat outside and enjoyed some watery sunshine and our food. After that the kids had a race to the centre of the Alice's maze and back again, DD won, DS blaming human traffic jams.
We then caught the train back round to Town Square and decided to end our visit as we'd started it, with the Villains Parade.
We took one last walk into Disney Village for some last minue shopping and collected our bags from the hotel and checked in, at the station and sadly trudged on to Eurostar for the journey back to the UK. Back to Waterloo, Northern Line to Brent Cross where mum and dad picked us up and delivered us back home.
And that's it really.
DLRP gets a lot of negative press, but for us the magic was very much alive, the parks looked good , the halloween theming was excellent, the parade was good and there were loads of characters in the parks. My only real gripe was the lack of shows in Disneyland, no Tarzan, no Mickey's Winter Wonderland, no Night Before Chrismas, no Winnie the Pooh, no Fantilussion and no fireworks, judging by the crowds though Halloween brings the guests in anyway, so I guess it's a way of saving money.
After 3 succiesive autumn/winter Disney visits, the next time I walk down Main Street I decided I want to be in shorts, feeling the sun beating down, i want to go on the wet rides to cool down and to sit in the sun and enjoy an ice cream so.....
We've booked next summer for our first ever trip to California!! 1 week in LA followed by 1 week in Las Vegas, the Jordans Disney decade continues....
