the Jayson Williams verdict

not too surprising.

I always felt like the shooting was truly an accident. He got stupid when he started trying to cover it up. Sometimes professional athletes tend to forget they are not untouchable. It looks like he will have 5 years to think about it.

The saddest part about all this is, besides the unfortunate death of the limo driver, that I really liked Jayson Williams. If you remember, his parents died when he was fairly young and he was raising a couple of his sibling from the time he was in college. He seemed like a great guy with a good head on his shoulders.

Tragic all the way around.

Didn't he kill his dog in cold blood because the dog lost a $100 dollar bet for him? How can you like that guy.

I used to like him, but the stories that came out during th trial...well, the jury believed him on the manslaughter charges, but that does not fully exonerate him from responsibiity for the poor man's death. in fact, I believe he settled the civil suit brought by the victim's family.

even accepting his version of the facts, as the trial jry did, he is not a nice person at all.

he can go to jail for a significant sentence on the four "obstruction" charges. I'm guessing that's where he's headed.

He may be a professional athlete, but he still took a life. There needs to be a consequence that fits. He was savvy enough to begin weaving his web of lies about what really happened. I hope he feels lighter pockets after the family gets done with the civil trial.

Accident or not, he shouldn't have put another at the wrong end of a gun.
:(

Yeh he did, he's a nut case.

But I think that he should be put away for life just for the fact that he shot his dog in cold blood. I don't want a psycho like him walking the streets. What a cruel and heartless human.

Yup. Money talks.

::yes::

Anyone who shoots someone, and while watching him die says, "My life's over," has some serious issues. The dead man had a family, too, and just because he did not have as much money as Williams, does not mean his life was worth less. Justice has not been served.

This is very local for us..........I am glad it's over, but the outcome wasn't quite what I expected. I did think he was going to be found guilty of manslaughter. I agree with momof2inPA,....the person he shot had a family too, and I think it was selfish to think that Jayson's "life was over", after the shooting........Gus Christofi's IS over, but his family's heartache will never be over.

I want all guilty famous people to be found innoncent

I should hope that after the story about the dog came out and with him shooting this guy that they at least ban him from ever owning or shooting a gun again. Its amazing how cash for multiple lawyers can buy a trial on technicalities.
