When speaking with a Grand Gathering CM today, she suggested The International Dinner at EPCOT for a Grand Gathering? However, I can not find any info online! Help! :grouphug:

From allearsnet.com:

International Dinner and IllumiNations Dessert Reception" -- There's no need to jet around the globe to experience dining around the world. At Epcot, international culinary favorites are on the menu for adventurous groups looking for a storybook ending to their day. Children can join in the dinner's special storytelling experience, which is punctuated with a surprise character appearance. A special viewing area is reserved for the evening finale, the nighttime Epcot spectacular "IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth." Ages 10 and older, $59.99; ages 3-9, $19.99.

I am so confused! (You think it might be from trying to plan a surprise trip for 6 adults and 3 kids?! :rotfl2: Anyway...
The Intrernational Dinner: Is that a seperate "special" dinner for a GG gang or does it just mean dinner at one of the restaurants in EPCOT? And is that dinner, no matter which one from above) included in the price? OR is the price just for the dessert and the special viewing area for Illumination?
I told you I am so confused! I have been reading up on so much for this trip it is all now just blending all together. Does that make sense? :rotfl2:

We did this a few years ago. It is at the Odessey restaurant- this is open only for the Grand Gathereing. There is an area where there are different food stations: Italian, Asian, German, etc. and kids foods(chicken fingers, etc.). Each family has a table in the dining area. There is entertainment with a "story Lady" who does a little skit with the kids. A few characters came by. Service was so-so. Took a long time to get drinks. After you eat they lead you to the Illuminations viewing area. There is coffe, lemonade (in a can) and I think tea. There are several desserts in staions. These were okay. The view was great. We enjoyed it, but IMHO it wasn't worth it.

Thanks for the info, Amanda. It does sound just so-so. Guess we are better off skipping that one. Thanks for the heads-up! I has been a bit overwhelming planning this surprise GG for 6 adults and 3 kids-most of whom have never been to Disney. So needless to ay, i want to make it as wonderful for eveyone as I possibly can. I think for dinners I will go to my first choices and meet together for dinner each night at those. Thanks!

I agree with Amanda- the food and show were nothing special. We did this last 4th of July, and the main objective was so get the special viewing area for Illuminations. They roped off a section behind the gift shop opposite the Mexico Pavillion. I think a better grand gathering dinner was the one at AK, with the Safari after park closing and a special dinner at Tusker House. This also included an African Musician and a visit from Timon from Lion King, and the gorilla from Tarzan- Terk.

I am so tired of standing 15 people back with DS on my shoulders trying to get view of Illuminations, I thought we might try this. The FDP worked out so well.

Bumping up for more recent reviews. I had read awhile back alot of positive
ones on this Grand Gathering.

Also did the one at AK and the fireworks one--both were great.
