The incredible coincidence at PatrickCon

So, I'm standing there with dh and we are talking with Barb and Bill. Barb asks me when we have to go back home, I tell her we have to leave that night after the party.

She tells me that they are going to visit Mackinac Island. I tell her we are going to visit Mackinac Island too, but we will be there Sunday night. She says, "really? We are going to be there Sunday night also." I say, "We'll be at the LakeView Hotel". Barb screams "We're going to be at the LakeView Hotel too!"

We both scream and jump up and down while the two husbands sort of look embarrassed.

It's just the neatest coincidence that we will be at Mackinac Island, at the same hotel at the same time. What are the odds of something like that happening? I'm so happy I'll have to buy Barb some fudge

Kath, I'm sorry I didn't get to talk to you yesterday. I was being passed around, but you were no where to be seen. Maybe you had left already. Either way, Barb told me about this and I could just picture the two of you jumping up and down and screaming like teenage girls...LOL! That is so neat--and weird--that you two will be there at the same place and same time. Have a blast!

Now I am going to whine.. I wanted to go to this island. Kath you know it ever since I saw the movie Somewhere in Time.. and now two of my favorite people are going to be there together and I am in MA.. Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :

It was pretty funny to see them jumping up and down screaming and their husbands just standing there

Well, we didn't see too much of each other They were much later getting to the island (poor Bill having to do all that flying )

I kept trying to call their room and they weren't checked in yet. When we finally stopped for the night it was too late to call.

I called the next morning at like 9 and woke them up Sorry, Barb and Bill. I saw them in the restaurant and they were going to join us until they saw how many kids were at our table

It rained hard on Monday, I didn't see Barb again until we were at the dock to board the ferry back to the mainland. She looked at me (soaking wet) and said something like, "OH MY GOD! You really got wet, didn't you?" tee hee Yes, I did!

Still it was the coolest coincidence. I hope they enjoyed the rest of their time there. It's a beautiful place to visit. No cars just horses and bicycles

Sorry we didn't get to see more of you guys, Kath. It seemed like the fates were against us on Sunday. LOL We (well, me) couldn't tear away from breakfast with everyone. That was the beiginning of the late start. We had no problem getting there, but Bill did miscalculate the flying time and we both forgot about the time change-we lost an hour. Duh! Then after we landed, it took almost an entire hour to get a taxi to the airport to pick us up-Bill was a little tense to say the least. Yikes! Also, they stopped to pick up another group along the way! Good grief! I thought we'd never get there!! We checked in and got a beautiful room. Then we went out to see if we could find a place to eat and hopefully find Kath and George walking around. We asked at the Visitors bureau for a restaurant recommendation. (It's all so confusing to go to a new place for the first time) We picked a nice place and had a very enjoyable dinner. We decided to explore the town before we called it a night. The shops lining the main street are either souvenier shops, fudge shops, ice cream shops or bicycle rental shops!! LOL Being very tired, we headed back to the hotel, which by the way, was an excellent choice despite being sight unseen. We were right in the heart of "downtown" and they had a pool. We went for a quick swim before calling it a night. Kath didn't really wake us up, we were getting up at 9:00 anyway and we were just getting up. We decided to see if we could catch them at breakfast, so we hurried up and got dressed. We did meet up, but we didn't want to intrude on their family time. Because of the rain, our plans changed. We were going to rent bikes, but decided on the carriage tour instead. It took us around the island and showed us some of the sights. We stopped at Fort Mackinac. It was interesting, but in the rain you don't linger too much. Headed out and did a little local siteseeing and shopping. Finally the rain stopped and we headed out for a walk. We managed to catch Kath and George as they were catching the ferry to head home. Yes, Kath was wet, very wet! Thank goodness for our WDW ponchos! Went for dinner and called it a night. It was a nice trip, but a little too short. We could have used another day there. Hey, Marsha, wannna go?!?! Wouldn't that be fun?
A side note-to walk into the Grand Hotel just to see it costs $10!!!!!!!!!!!!! (that's the hotel from the movie)

The LakeView was a very nice hotel, the rooms were perfectly appointed, I think.

I'd love to spend a weekend there, just dh and me. Let's plan a trip, you and Bill, Marsha and Tommy and me and Wilgus. We would have a ball
