The I Love BWV (yes, Hallways and Clown Pool too!) Thread

hey everyone. i posted this in the main bw thread but wanted to post it in here as well just in case.

we are renting points and currently have a boardwalk view studio. first time staying at bw.

#1 - is there a specific floor/area we should request based on your experience?
#2 - how loud is the boardwalk view really? kids are 5 and 2 and sleep with a sound machine, plus we dont normally go back for naps or anything like that
#3 - we have stayed bcv last year and have stayed bc and yc a few times, and we love it there, but wanted to mix it up and stay at bw this time. those who have stayed both, do you think we will regret it? i can put in a request to move to bcv (although its not guaranteed) so was just curious.

thanks!

1. If you're not too noise sensitive, floor 2 has the most advantages for me - you still get a view over the lake, but you're on the lobby floor for easy in and out...and can use stairs to go down or up to the rooms without always having to go back to the elevator. If you're a little more noise sensitive, the upper floors can be a touch quieter as you're not as close to the boardwalk itself.
2. Depends - I personally don't find it an issue - it sounds like you're similar to me in that you don't intend to be napping or sleeping during the day when it's noisiest - and most of the time it's quiet enough at night with the doors closed - the music stops and most boardwalk shops and games close by 11pm - after that, it's only the occasional drunk group yelling or laughing as they stream out of Jelly Rolls that can sometimes be heard. The sound machine for the kids should help.
3. I actually prefer Boardwalk to BCV - but then I tend to like having a little more 'action' in easy reach - I like the music, food, and activity, and people watching. BCV is definitely the quieter experience, especially if you're down the hall a ways. I'd encourage the chance to try something new.
BTW - there are a few rooms that have special balconies - if you like lots of sun and openness, you may want the regular balconies, but if you want size and space, or protection from sun and rain, there are several very large and deep balconies on floor 2 - due to the design, these balconies are 2-3x the size of the normal balconies, and fully covered. If you like that, request 2013, 2015, 2045, or 2047.

Hi all,

I should have this info noted somewhere, but can’t seem to put my finger on it, and tried searching the DIS boards. We’re heading down in March for a week in a 2 BR Boardwalk view. Have been BWV members for 20+ years and am hoping for the following for our room. I’ll put in a request (know it can’t be guaranteed!)

- Full villa balcony (vs smaller ones)
- Railing with the open slat view (not a blocked wall)
- Not above Jellyrolls if at all possible :)

Can someone suggest a range of room numbers (or floors) that would be best to request to accommodate these preferences?

Many thanks!

Thanks so much. I do watch the Boardwalk Inn group, but figured that wouldn’t cover the villas. And I’ll try your other links. Really appreciate it!

We just checked out of 1BR 5011, which is part of a lockoff 2BR. See photos from our balcony in this thread https://www.disboards.com/threads/waitlist-filled.3908221/. There are 2 posts from me. We were above Big River Grille and didn’t hear any noise from outside.

Since all BWV 2BR are lockoffs, I’m not sure you can get a balcony that’s continuous across the entire villa. Our 1BR balcony was continuous across living room & primary BR. DH and I agree it was the best balcony & best 1BR villa we’ve had.

We have a BW view for one of our upcoming trips! How was the noise below in the evening? Thanks, hope you had fun!!

We didn’t hear any noise from below in the evening. That villa is above the end of Big River Grille that’s farthest from the Village Green, so farther from most of the Boardwalk activity, and we didn’t hear anything when Jellyrolls and/or Atlantic Dance closed either. As is normal with BWV, the hallway was long, but otherwise it was an ideal location!
Hopefully the refurbishment includes putting the clown back up! :jumping1:
I wish so too, but I’m not holding my breath. That clown reminded me of the New Orleans amusement park, Pontchartrain Beach, which had a similar clown at the entrance, but apparently too many people have been taught that clowns are evil instead of fun.

Thanks for your reply! Looking forward to it!

Yeah the new design just doesn't fit the Boardwalk.

I might be wrong, but I think its only the 3 Bedrooms which have a complete balcony.
I did some more digging today. It turns out that there are a few BW View villas where there is NO access to a balcony from the living room of the 1/2 BR unit. Only balconies on the bedrooms. I think we may have stayed in one of these before. Did not care for it at all, so this is what I was trying to avoid.

We just returned from our first stay at BWV after buying our contract last year. Definitely solidified our decision on the resort. We loved everything about it. We stayed in 1097 and 1099 - 2 standard studios but I would consider these pretty prime location. Although the view was of the entrance driveway, the Boardwalk sign lit up at night was beautiful. Didn't really hear any noise and we were steps away from the exit door to the Luna pool. I'd definitely request a similar location again if booking standard view. I didn't make any requests for location since our top priority was to get the two rooms close together, which they accommodated. The staff there was amazing. Cannot wait to go back!

We stayed in one of those same rooms in Nov. I agree it is a great location, the only negative we found was being so close to the exit that we kept hearing people going and coming out of it late at night when we were trying to sleep,

Glad that your first trip was so wonderful. It is just the first of years of trips to fill your memories. Welcome Home!

We always travel with a portable speaker and use a fan app to drown out noise so that's usually not an issue for us... we are fan sleepers at home, too!
