I need to lose and lose big! I am shooting for 100 lbs ( actually want 150 but thats just too overwhelming to think of) I would love to get a list going of others looking to lose big also as I think that losing large amounts of weight present unique problems and I could really use some accountability and support. wow what a sentence!! but you know what I mean.

I am 43, single, work as a public health nurse in southwest Colorado, have 3 grown children, several embarrising little chihuahua's, can't spell, hate to cook and love geeky weird things. I am starting this week by joining weight watchers ( mostly because I can't think of anything else to do)

Anyone else like to play??

:welcome: to WISH!!

there used to be a thread for folks trying to lose big numbers...but i can't remember what it's called and didn't recognize it at a glance on the forum. my i suggest admending your thread title to include word/phrase explaining a little what/who you are seeking out?

Welcome to the WISH boards! You are welcome to join us on the BL Summer Challenge. It started about a month ago and goes until mid-August. Here is a link to the sticky that tells you about our current challenge: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2173748 and here is a link to the thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2177354. Several people on the thread are on WW but you don't have to be to be part of our group.

I just started WW a couple of weeks ago and my sage words of wisdom are don't be afraid to use all of your flex and activity points. I like WW because it helps you to make healthier choices. An easy way to earn activity points is to get a pedometer and keep track of your steps. Add 1,000 steps a week and you'll be up to 10,000 steps (5 miles) a day in no time, especially if you are a nurse. :goodvibes

I find it is easier to break things down into smaller goals, too, so it is not so overwhelming. I just this week got down to double digits to go on my big goal. It took awhile to get there. Start out with goal of losing 5% of your body weight or ten pounds, then add to it.

Good luck on your journey to good health!

Howdy! I'm in the same boat with just about the same goal! I actually just started weight watchers as well, and I'm going into week three. So far it's been good and I'm just trying to think about it one day at a time, which I know sounds a little cliche but when I think about my overall goal it just seems a tad overwhelming.

I agree that the accountability piece is huge and the hard part for me has been that nobody in my family or work life is trying to eat healthy.

So, I'm all for being part of a support group or doing a weight watchers buddy system!

Well I'll be....

I'm from north eastern Colorado and just started weight watchers this past week!!!

I'm also trying to lose over 100 lbs.
