Day One – Journey To Manchester Airport – SAS Radisson

We spent the morning doing last minute things. My Mam and Dad popped down to see us before we went.

We set off at about 2 and arrived at the hotel at 4 pm. We parked in the hotel car park and were quickly checked in. The SAS Radisson is class. We have interconnecting rooms and the kids (18 and 16) have twin beds which they are very happy about.

We wandered down to T2 to see if we could suss out where the Virgin bag drop was but couldn’t see it. I asked one of the helpers there and he said it is usually over there pointing to the far left of the terminal. We bought some things from Smiths and had a snack in one of the terminal’s cafes. The kids headed back to the room whilst we had a wander around the airport and ended up in T1. We spotted Bewleys where we have booked for next year, it is a lot further away than the Radisson from T2. I mentally decide to book the Radisson for next year instead. We headed back to the room where one of the kids was colouring in.

We fancied a swim so popped down to the pool and also had a go in the sauna and steam room. The latter two the kids had not experienced before and as you can imagine both rooms were pretty hot. It was quite relaxing having a swim and a steam. Another reason to book the Radisson.

Kids' Room

Back in the room the oldest made himself a cup of tea. 2nd cup he has made since he came back from uni in July! After waiting for him to finish it we went down to one of the restaurants in the hotel, the Braisserie (or something like that) for tea.

I had a pasta dish washed down with 2 glasses of wine, hubbie a burger and a Guiness, the youngest a pizza and lemonades and the eldest pizza and milkshakes. The food was nice. Feeling full of food and excitement we went back to the room.

The kids started messing about with the mini bar but I jumped into bed. I wanted to get some sleep before the 2 glasses of wine woke me up early in the morning. Whilst hubbie was in the bathroom the youngest put the bible under my hand to look like I had fell asleep reading it to make his Dad laugh. As the beds were so comfortable we were all soon asleep.

Great pics - I have requested bedrooms with runway views at the Radisson, I hope they are available!

I think it will be class having runway rooms. I hope to get them next year. We have booked the Radisson with car parking so no extra car parking fees.

Great start - looks a lovely hotel :thumbsup2

what a great start to your holiday

Thanks Susan, it was certainly more relaxing going down the day before than on the actual day.
