What are we doing for the holidays.. Oh you just had to ask!
Let's see.. Thanksgiving will be just the 5 of us.. Ssons are w/ their mom..but will be here on Friday and thru the weekend.. I love to cook so I'll have enough food cooked in one day to get us through the weekend.. I'll even pack leftovers for the games we have all weekend.. The boys have a travel basketball tournament just an hour away!
We'll put up our decorations the next weekend.. because we are too busy this weekend.. I have to get the garland wrapped around the house and the lg. bulbs up.. I did lights last year but I don't want DH to climb the roof in the snow this year... (it's bad enough I came home to him climbing it to blow leaves off)... We decorate 2 trees in the house... and the house looks great inside.. Our family says "we puke Christmas" around here.. I'm telling you.. my house gets nice and cozy...and than when I take it all down (notice I put I in there.. not we)... our house seems to increase in size.. Everyone room has a theme.. The bathroom is our snowflake room.. Our entry is the reindeer room, our hallway is the angel avenue.. The kids have themes too... I just love Christmas...
Which reminds me.. I really need to get started on my homemade gifts.. I'm going to be doing altered quart paint cans filled w/ goodies for my babysitting kids, gallon paint cans for the parents/inlaws..
The 23rd we are getting together w/ DH's family.. My parents haven't decided when they want to do Christmas.. Oh, wait! It's my turn to have Christmas.. I better get on that.. She did Christmas last year! Cool, more cooking and left overs!!!
I hope everyone has a fun, safe and happy holiday season!!!

Good lord woman! OK when you're done there can you come over and help me do my house???? I want to see pictures!

SO what am I getting?????

Here it's just DH and me. His family is all in Oregon and Washington, my parents are in Florida now. We go to the families for Christmas (this year it's Seattle), but Thanksgiving is just the two of us. I do make all the traditional stuff, and we actually eat at our table (instead of on tv trays and the couch).

Nancy, I can help you with your family, the next time someone teases you, you can show them pictures of how I grew up. These are from 2002, the last year I was home to help and before my parents moved to Florida. I do manage to pull of 4 trees of various sizes in our little apartment. This is all Disney, but my parents have an equivalent amount of non-Disney. The record for trees, I believe, is 37.

I'll get pictures.. I have an 5 foot bar area (breakfast bar for the kids) that gets taken away at Christmas for my Christmas village.. My living room is the Santa room, the dining room becomes the village/snowman area... I have over 21 tubs of Christmas goodies (or $%^$# as my DH refers to them!)

I went shopping today..and couldn't find squat! I have my idea for you already! Ha!

Just a drive by posting. I'm back at work after 9 hours on Saturday and 14 yesterday we are still at it. I am planning on taking tomorrow or Wednesday so I can get ready for the group Thursday.

Now for decorating. We do two trees in the house. One 8' and one 4'. I have mostly Disney and Hallmark but I really buy whatever I just like. I place all my little ornaments on the small tree and usually put it next to the tv and the large tree goes in the living room. I'm loving the new house since its an open floor plan and I'll be able to see the living room from the family room and I'll get to look at my pretty tree. My DH doesn't do as much outside for Christmas as he does for Halloween but we still do alot. LOL

I still haven't done the picture posting thing but I'll see if I can figure it out this week/weekend and I can post what we do.

Now back to work.

WOW!!! That made me tired just reading it. HOw long would it take to get everything done? I bet the house looks bare when everything comes down. I love the article your did, I hope you scrapped it with pictures!
I hate taking stuff down because the house feels like it's missing something.

21 tubs, Nancy? I thought I was bad. I have 1 for each of the kids, and 6 or 7 for everything else. I need to buy more though because this year I bought wreaths for every window on the front of the house.

Off to buy bows for those wreaths so I can get them up.

Hey everyone! It has been quite. My dd and I will spend our 1st Thanksgiving at home in 8 years. Now that my dad is gone, we usually went there. I have an 11 lb turkey, thawing in the fridge, and will make mashed potatoes, green bean cassarole, stuffing and pumpkin and mince meat pies. I love left overs!!! Turkey sandwiches!

I have most of my shopping done and don't want to step foot in a store for the next month if I can help it. My dd's choir had a poinsettia and xmas cactus sale, so I got some for gifts. Just need to order gift cards (scrip) from her school and I'm done.

Since I am having craft withdrawls, I am prepping a craft to do with my dd's class on the last day of school. It's from the new issue of Pack-O-Fun the recycled CD photo album. It think 3/4 graders would like it.

I bought some of those light up Christmas displays to put in the windows and just have to get my alpine tree from the basement and put ornaments on. I usually put up a garland around my archway between the living and dinning rooms, so it looks festive.

I'm off from Dec 22nd to Jan 2, so I always look forward to the time off!
