This is a movie I wanted to see, and knowing that DH wouldn't be particularly interested in it, I decided to go to the movies while he is out of the country.
This was very much a Clint Eastwood style movie. Three stories within a story of people whose lives intersect. The journalist survives a tsunami, the young boy survives a loss and Matt Damon is psychic for whom his "gift" is a burden. He sees dead people. The casting was interesting and sort of reminded me of the Changling with Angelina Jolie. None of the actors were particularly good looking. The boys in the movie were somewhat cute but not "adorable". They were more like people you would meet in any walk of life except the story takes place on two continents. The cinematography reminded me of the Changling. It was in color with a lot of dull tones. There were parts that were sad but the overall impression I had was one of melancholy. Did the characters go on to a happy ending? I let you see the movie to decide for yourself. Would I go on a Saturday night for $10? Probably not but it was a very good matinee and will be a worthwhile DVD to bring home and watch when its released.
