Day 5--- Animal Kingdom

Another good night's sleep!!! Love those pillow top mattresses.
I also forgot to mention the pillows. I have never experienced this before when i have stayed anywhere.... YC has different pillows.... want one of those foamy pop back into shape pillows... yup... they're there..... want a nice squishy pillow.... yup they are right there. Gotta love it!!!

And today we wake up to a coffee maker in our room so that is much nicer and easier on DH. ( They had also given us two of those all in one coffee packs)

We decided to do early entry so off to the AK at a little before 8.
Everyone else had the same idea. This was the most crowded entry we have had so far.
We went right back to the safari. wait time is the longest we have had so far at the parks... around 15 minutes.
We got a great one!!!
We saw lots of animals .. and had giraffes in the road so we could not move for a time. Great photos and video!!!!
Great experience!
We then did Pangani Forest trail. Very nice. We got to see a gorilla very close and he gave us some great pictures also.

Went to see tough to be a bug.... very cute. Really liked it.

Saw Festival of the lion king. This is a wonderful show and i highly encourage people to see it no matter how long you have to wait. We really enjoyed this.
When it was over we went to sit on a bench over to the side to let the crowds go by.There were some characters there so we watched them with the kids.... then out came Guitar Dan. Has anyone experience this man? What a treat. He was going up to kids and families and asking them questions about themselves so that he could then sing a song about them. It was nice that he had a speaker so all could hear him. We were loving this and watching for a while.... and then it happenend.... he started walking towards us.... and sat there right next to us. He said he had been watching us watching him so he decided to come over. He told me to tell him some things about DH, and then he sang a song about us. This was so much fun and such a surprising treat.

Off to get some lunch now.

We ate at Flame Tree BBQ. Very yummy pork BBQ sandwhiches. Really liked the beans that came with it also.

We left AK when my camera died, The cards on the Digital were filled and the battery on the camcorder died.
NOW...... should we have emptied the cards before we came over here... YES!!!!
Don't really know what happened with my other camera but that was just a back up anyway, no big deal. Just not good that we had nothing at that point. So... it was late afternoon and we were tired so we headed out.

Went back to YC and changed for dinner. Tonight we were going to CHEF MICKEY"S!!!
We headed over and once we walked into the contemporary I thought... hmmmm looks a little different since I was here 10 years ago. I don't know if it was me or that we were staying in a resort that is VERY different than this one.... but it felt cold and somewhat run down. DH did not really like it here. Just not his style.
We went up to Chef Mickey's and DH did not really like the looks of the menu too much. He had gotten way too used to our other buffet's and felt this one looked lacking. OK.... I told him we could try to do something else if he would rather do that. We take the monorail over to Poly..... he remained wishy washy...... back to Chef Mickey's...... OK good thing we were running early to begin with..... We decide to go for it anyway. I mean... He did buy a shirt for Mickey and the gang to sign so why not......

We got seated in that back part near the window. I was not too thrilled with that but thought they may end up being good since it may be a little quieter and DH would be happier.

All the characters came around and were very nice. All went well, but the food was not all that great. We had gotten much better buffets at Boma's, Cape May and Crystal Palace. The Shrimp was Very cold though and I liked that. The prime rib was good and the parm potatoes were good.
Dessert bar was not what we had experienced at the other restaurants. so so ordinary fare.
I would say this is a must do for kids but we are going to try other character meals in the future. The resort and restaurant were just not for us.

We then did the monorail loop and stopped into MK to empty the camera cards. ( cardand disc won't be back until tomorrow so I end up having to get one of those little disposable cameras.)

We then went to the GF so we could see the Christmas tree and the Gingerbread house. Just beautiful!!!!!

DH and I got to ride in the front of the monorail with the driver. I had done this years ago when I was in college and knew DH would like this. And he did!!!!::yes::

Back to the resort...... we were getting a little worn out and cranky and didn't want to lose our magic!!
