I'm just catching up on a few weeks of podcasts (I'm so behind!) and heard that no one has yet answered the question of who the Hen is in the Boo to You parade.
She is in Donald Duck's first cartoon. You know the storybook about the hen that was going to make the bread (or some other bakery type thing) and asked for help. She asked her friends "who will help me etc etc." in every step of the process and her two friends replied, "Not I."
But of course, in the end, they wanted part of the end result and she wouldn't let them have it because they didn't help?
Well in the Silly Symphony version, she is the hen and Donald is one of the lazy friends that doesn't want to help. I believe this is before he became "Donald Duck" but he is definitely in his sailor garb. I think she also appears in a few other cartoons whenever there is a group type thing, like an extra.
