The grey stuff... Disney, please...

LOL! Seriously, it requires eating in an enchanted castle setting... or in a tavern decorated with antlers (please and thank you, Disney decision makers) at the very least, to qualify as the "grey stuff" of the delicious variety. Otherwise, it's just something sweet that's the color of a pair of non-magical socks...

Haha that would be great. Although I dont know how Gaston would feel about them selling the "Masters" cupcake at his tavern

Granted, I went in 2015, so maybe something changed, but when I went to BOG, the Grey Stuff was nothing but a brownie, the kind you get at the counter of a 7/11 or gas station, with grey colored cool whip on top and a few little inedible silver pearl things (can get at grocery store or Walmart) that could crack your teeth! I assume its VERY easy to make at home.

Yeah I was going to say just taste like Oreos and whip cream. I used to make this cream dessert for my FIL with tea whip cream and chocolate wafer cookies. I bet if you did it with Oreos it would taste like it.

LOL I read your title like a "girl, please!", full of attitude, kind of thing. :duck:I opened your thread expecting a vent or a rant on how much you didn't like the grey stuff.

Now calling absolutmey, snark-inventor, party of one! :wave2:

I was really excited to try it but also skeptical about the hype. After trying it, I have to admit it was pretty darn good.

It's not cool whip...it's a basic buttercream with crushed chocolate wafers (not oreos). Cool whip does not hold its shape when piped like that.

You can make it at home really easily. Just pick your favorite vanilla buttercream recipe and add in pulverized chocolate wafers (like, food processor pulverized). Add in a couple drops of black food coloring.

Or, come to Disneyland and you can get it at two counter service locations!

I don't think its a cupcake anymore.

Can we just ask that the whole cupcake and cakepop poop fad be over? Viva la tarts! I'm ready for pie variety of bake shops like sprinkles. #endcupcakerant

Those pearl things are the best, I can probably eat a cup of them. LOL.

Buttercream won't hold that shape either. I'm 99.99% sure that they add gelatin to whatever junk it is to make it hold its shape. Just like with the cupcake frosting etc. (bleah)

I read it exactly the same way you did! LOL.

Buttercream holds it's shape if it is kept cold. But yeah, gelatin is often added.
