The Grey Stuff at Be our Guest Restaurant

I'd never heard of it before it was put on our table. We were all like, what is that? No special occasion and we didn't ask for it, but we liked it!

We didn't have a celebration listed on our reservation but at the beginning of dinner our amazing server asked if anyone was celebrating a birthday or anniversary. My son's birthday happened to be the next day and my sister and her hubs had just had an anniversary. We talked about the grey stuff during dinner so the kids asked for it. Our server was so super awesome and brought 4 servings.

It had a very light a fluffy texture but absolutely NO taste to me--maybe a very slight hint of almond. The kids thought it was super cool since it was somewhat "secretive" and proclaimed that it was delicious! Their excitement was all that mattered at that point!

A surefire way to get some is to add a celebration to your ADR, such as a birthday or anniversary. You can also get a free button from City Hall to wear.

Sadly, this is not necessarily true. It sounds like there is no "surefire" way to have it. I went in early March (no rose on it) and we had a celebration (anniversary) noted on the reservation and were wearing buttons. No grey stuff was offered, so I ended up asking the server if we could try it. He was nice and brought a plate, but we wouldn't have gotten it if we didn't ask.

To me it tasted like buttercream frosting. I really couldn't taste the oreos or any almond-taste. Unfortunately, it wasn't really anything outstanding from a flavor/texture point of view. It was very petty to look at...

Ask for it. If the server doesn't want to bring it for you then you save money on a tip.

As said, whether a "first time" visit/button is enough will depend on your server. I had noted a birthday on ours, and she had her birthday button on but our server didn't bring it to us. Instead we asked another server who's also a friend to get some for us and she brought it out!

If you ask, maybe even pull the server aside so that it's a surprise for the rest of the table? pixiedust:

We had our son's birthday listed on our ADR at BOG and he received a plate with candle of the "grey stuff".

We had some for our birthday. I loved it!! Also, the plate comes out with an edible stamp that says The Grey Stuff. As to what it was from the song..... I don't think I ever imagined it was a pâté or fois gras..... It says to try the grey stuff, it's delicious and I would never consider either of those as delicious...

We asked for it and our server asked if we were celebrating anything. I told her just being able to go to Disney was a celebration. She gave us a sample because that is really all it is. Maybe a tablespoon of some type of mousse. It was alright. Honestly once was enough. We were there for dinner and I will say the food was excellent.

If you'd like to just ask for it, it depends on your server and how generous he/she is feeling. A surefire way to get some is to add a celebration to your ADR, such as a birthday or anniversary. You can also get a free button from City Hall to wear.

The Grey Stuff is a sweet mousse of some sort. Different people have reported tasting different flavors. I had been told it was an Oreo mousse and that's what it tasted like to me. There's a link in my signature to a thread called "Everything you ever wanted to know about Be Our Guest." The post that covers dinner has a photo of The Grey Stuff and includes more info about it :thumbsup2

Parkhopping ~ where did you find the awesome monorail ticker? I want one :confused3

Also, the plate comes out with an edible stamp that says The Grey Stuff.

If that was actually printed on the plate, I feel like I would need to own one. I would find grey food to make just to make use of the awesome plate!! :teeth:
