I have heard about this and just recently read about it in the current issue of Coastal Living. Has anyone ever witnessed "The Green Flash" while on the western cruise??

But to make it short and sweet, the Green Flash is the point just as the sun sets in the horizon, it is said that a flash of green can be seen if the atmosphere is just right.

I've heard of it, but never have seen it even after living in Florida for ten years.

It really does happen......but you won't see it very often.
We've traveled all over the Caribbean, down as far as Bonaire & Curacao. We watch for it every night...(it's become a bit of a joke among our group)
But....we finally did actually see "The Green Flash" on our trip to Bonaire last November. It was very cool to see....but if you had blinked at the right moment, you would have missed it.
It's possible that you could see it on the Western. If you have enough open ocean, with no other islands in the way...and a clear night sky.
It's fun to just sit and relax and wait, even if you don't see it!

I have seen it while standing on the beach in San Francisco. I've never seen it on a cruise.

I've seen in San Diego but never in the Caribbean. It truly is a split second thing.

We see it all the time here in San Diego but have never seen it in the Caribbean. We were hoping to see it in Key West last week but there were too many clouds on the horizon.

That would be so cool if we could see it while on the cruise! I first heard about this from a friend. He shared with DH and I that there is bar in Florida called The Green Flash!

It is a very common thing to see here in Hawaii. Growing up here I just assumed everyone knew about it.

It occurs when the atmospheric conditions are just right ..it causes a green flash when the sun just drops below the horizon. Hemingway used to write about the phenom . I kinda classify it with the northern lights. You might get lucky and see them..you might not :) I'll still watch for it myself ::yes::

Maybe I will get lucky with this since I saw the Northern Lights twice!!
