I was reading a book about World War I and really realized how much is lost from it. We rarely hear about it anymore, especially compared to WWII. So I looked up some Wikipedia on it and came across that there are now only 3 veterans of WWI still alive. And only 1 was a combat veteran.

It'll soon be a generation gone.

I read John Keegan's The First World War a few years back and found it very interesting. I've wanted to read The Guns of August but haven't gotten around to it yet.

If you have the Military Channel, they are re-running the documentary series "The First World War," which is also well done.
